Chapter 6

We have just arrived home after spending almost the entire day at the meeting with the council members. I knew I had to see this day, no matter how much I told myself that I would have move on because I didn't have a mate, my heart refused to listen and co-operate with me. Now to top it off I really have to look for a bride, I don't think I wanted that, but what other option did I have?




I thought I would go on a trip to all the packs once again like I did a year ago, maybe this time I can find my mate, but who will leave the pack to? As per werewolf laws, every wolf get an opportunity to go around visiting packs in hopes of finding their mate. I did that too, but I never found my mate, I tried telling myself that maybe my mate wasn't of age, but it did nothing to help the thought that I probably didn't have one.




I sighed cursing under my breath as I walked into my office with Elvin right behind me, the pack house was entirely empty reminding me that my family and pack is at my best friend's pack celebrating his ceremony. And here I am trying to think of something so I can escape the order issued by the council to get another chance at finding my true mate. I sat down in my chair as my hands landed on the table, I ran my hand through my hair trying to let go of this tense feeling I had since the meeting.




Vince hasn't stopped whining in my head ever since he heard the council members, he has been growling and howling in my head which has started triggering a headache. I really don't think I can handle Vince right now, he has been clawing to come forward, thankfully I have good enough control to not let him push through, but the stubborn wolf refuses to co-operate and shut up for once. Too bad I am not able to block him out right now because I can barely focus on anything around me.




"You knew this day would come" Elvin said breaking the silence making me sigh




"But, no matter how much you know or how much you prepare yourself, nothing helps when it actually happens" I snapped, I know it was wrong of me to snap at him, but I couldn't help it




"Woah, woah, woah, you don't have to snap" he said raising his hands in mock surrender while he rolled his eyes to irritate me more




"Roll your eyes once again I might take them off" I warned and he chuckled shaking his head




"If you snapping at me is helping you, then snap all you want, but both you and we know, that we can't escape this" he said calmly




"You don't say, you found your true mate, wait, she was your childhood sweetheart" I taunted




"Come on Vin, you can't be angry at me because I found my mate and you didn't, besides, you will have to find yourself a bride" he said, I know he is right, but he won't understand what I am feeling because he had his chance at happiness, but I didn't, I really don't want to look like a jealous man, but I really hoped I had my mate like the few other wolves




"Tell me why are you still alive?" I asked annoyed




"It's because you love me" he replied smugly




"I don't know what to do" I told him honestly




"I know Vin, and I also know that I might not know how you are feeling right now, but I really can't do anything at this moment. We are bounded by the council's order, you know we can't bypass them because it has to with the future heir" he answered, I know he was fucking right, each and every word he said was right, but what do you expect me to do




"So you are saying I should go ahead with the order?" I asked still trying to get a reason to refuse to the stupid demand made by the council members




"I wish, I could say no, but both you and I know it's not something that is possible" he replied, I know he was trying to be the calm and composed one to handle things if I did something stupid in my rage. I haven't done stupid things but this is my true mate we are talking about, I have little to control over myself on realizing I won't be able to have my mate




"Vin" Elvin called pulling me out of my thoughts, I looked at him and he sighed taking a deep breath before he could say anything




"I want you to listen to me, and listen very carefully" he said I nodded my head hesitantly for him to continue




"I know how you feel about your true mate, you need to know that you will not lose her even if you marry someone for an heir" he started looking at me to make sure I am listening




"As a King there a few things you have to do even if you don't want to, and this is one of those things" he added, I was still quiet as I tried to process his words in my head





"This won't mean you are cheating on your mate because you are not" he said trying to explain




"That is what we think, and what if my mate won't think like that? Besides, if I happen to find my mate after marrying another woman, what am I going to do? I can't reject the woman I married for an heir neither can I reject my true mate" I objected, I know this is bad idea, and for some reason I feel like I will be in a lot of trouble with my true mate if I go through with this idea




"You won't have to reject either of them, you will have to take care of them both because both of them will be related to you, connected to you in some way or the other" he explained, now this feels like even more trouble, I heard it's difficult to handle one woman and my best friend here is advising me to handle not one but two woman, I think he has officially lost it




"You want me to die, don't you? Do I look like an idiot to keep two woman when I don't know how to handle one" I said with a scoff unable to stop myself




"If you have a better way, then good luck, but the point remains the same, that you will have to get married" he said shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly, I now feel like I want to strangle him




"Do you think there really isn't any other way to get rid of this order?" I asked hoping he would say yes




"Unfortunately for you, No" he replied making me curse under my breath once again




"I need some time to process all of this, it's a lot to take in" I told him and he nodded his head in understanding




"I understand, we'll talk more in the morning, and it's now time for the pack members to be returning from the ceremony, so I am off to my mate" he said getting up from his chair, the way he smiled when he said he was going to his mate was something I wanted, I have craved for it for as long as I can remember




"See you tomorrow" I told him and he nodded his head walking out of my office




I sighed leaning back in my chair as I closed my eyes, everything that has happened today was going through my mind. Elvin's words kept ringing in my ears, I really don't know what else to do. I don't know how long I have been here, I opened my eyes my I felt my mother running her fingers through my hair to comfort me. I looked up to see her smiling at me softly, that smile made me forget about every other thing for a second.




"How long have been back?" she asked with a raised eyebrow




"Not long" I replied and she nodded her head




"What was meeting about?" she asked looking at me




"The council has issued an order" I told her, she gasped in response, I know my mother well, I didn't have to explain because she understood exactly what I am talking about




"Oh my baby, are you okay?" she asked in concern




"I am fine mom, as fine as I possibly can be" I replied and she nodded head




"Where is Li?" I asked when I realize my baby sister hasn't made her appearance to irritate me telling all about her best friend who I am yet to meet




"She stayed back" mom replied with a smile making me squint my eyes at her




"And you let her stay? Like I believe you" I said scoffing in disbelief




"It's not my choice any more, she will stay there, it's her home" she said, I was confused because why would she want to stay at her best friend's pack unless, the thought itself made my eyes widen in surprise




"Yes, she found her mate" she replied, I was happy for her, but it also brought disappointment in my heart




"Who is her mate?" I asked trying to not let my mother see how much it affected me, but who am I kidding, she could see right through me




"You know him" she said with a smile, I tried to think of who it can be




"Your best friend Fabian silly, he is your sister's mate" she added and wide smile spread on my face, I was happy for my best friend and sister, I also knew he would care for her well




"I know baby you feel sad, but everything will be fine, don't worry" she said giving my shoulder a comforting squeeze




"Thank you mom" I replied grateful for her love and support




"Li was coming to get her stuff, I have invited Fabian with her too" she said




"That's great, thank you for letting me know, I will make sure to be available" I replied with a smile




"Go get some rest, I am off to bed" she said as placed a kiss on my forehead before walking out




"Good night mom" I wished her




"Good night Vin" she replied walking out of my office, I sighed before making my way towards my room. I was already tired and I needed to sleep it off, and that is exactly what I did
