Chapter 7

I am currently sitting in office trying to sort out the paperwork I have pending since yesterday. I had to make sure I am done before lunch, we are supposed to have lunch together as Li and Fab are coming. Although Li was only coming to get her stuff, but my mother managed to make sure the tradition of inviting our newly mated daughter is followed. These are few little things that make me wonder how does she know what and when to do,it's like she was born to do all these things everyday. I shook my head pushing away the thoughts as I tired to focus on the paperwork.




Too bad, I can hardly concentrate on anything because my mind keeps going to back to everything that has happened yesterday. I thought after feeling so tired I will be able to sleep it off, but unfortunately for me, I was barely able to close my eyes. I sighed as I closed the paperwork pushing back in my desk drawer, I don't think I can manage to get it done today, not when I am so conflicted. A knock on the door grabbed my attention, taking a deep breath as I asked the person to come in.




"Good morning Vin" I heard Elvin's voice, I looked up hoping he might have something that can help me out of this mess when I recalled my conversation with him yesterday and sighed in defeat




"I see, you are still not able to make your mind" Elvin said, he could clearly say what was just by looking at me and so could Fab. The three of us have been very close to each other since we were kids, I just hope there is something that can help me




"I am trying, but I just can't get myself to think that I can do this" I said sighing in defeat




"I know it is difficult, but we have to start on it, we don't have a lot of time" he replied looking at me sadly




"What do you mean?" I asked confused, I don't think I can take another stunt of these old people, looks like they have something against me to be doing this




"I went through the order issuance letter we received from the council" he started, I knew it, these fucking old people have to do something more to make this even more stressful than it needed to be




"And?" I asked looking at him impatiently waiting for him to continue talking




"We have less than a week for your marriage" he stated looking at me with a blank face




"You mean they have given us timeline to do what they asked for?" I asked in disbelief




"Yes, they want you to get married in five days" he explained making my eyes widen in shock making me freeze in place




"What the fuck?" I shouted banging my fists on the table




"We don't have a way out of this, they knew you would try to postpone it, so they made sure you don't have time to postpone" he explained, I triedly ran my hands through my face before looking up to see Elvin looking at me with a sad look




"Now what do we do?" I asked trying to think of solution




"Nothing, basically work on implementing it" he replied




"You mean, looking for a bride" I asked and he nodded his head in response




"It would not be difficult" he said looking at me with a smirk on his face




"And why is that?" I asked wanting to know what was going on in his head




"Because, they made it easier for you, you have to marry an Alpha female, you can't marry any other she-wolf" he replied




"That's basically a part of the tradition that a King can only choose an Alpha female as his bride" I replied with a scoff




"And basically that's the only good thing about this because after the true Queen, it's only an Alpha female who can bear the King's heir and take care of the pack" I added and he sighed shaking his head




"Yeah, true" he mumbled




"Get me the details of all the female Alpha's in the country" I ordered and he rolled his eyes




"I already have the details" he explained




"You mean, you already looked up for the details?" I asked




"Atleast, one of us have to stay in our senses" he taunted




"Whatever, give me the details you found out" I told him and he sighed




"There are only two female Alpha's of age in the entire werewolf species, there are a few female Alpha's however, they are very young, basically pups" he explained and I waited patiently for him to complete




"Out of the two, one is your sister, so you basically don't have a choice" he added




"You mean there is only female Alpha of age?" I asked to reconfirm, I mean it's better that I don't have to spending a lot of time selecting a bride for myself




"Yes" he replied with a smile




"And she is?" I asked looking at him, I think I already know the answer but I wanted to hear it from his mouth to make sure




"Violet Willow Wade from the Dark Moon pack, Fab's baby sister" he replied and I shook my head in disbelief, now I have to deal with Fabian. I remember he said the only thing his sister wanted was to find her mate, and she had her entire family's support




"She won't agree, neither will Fab or his father" I told him holding my head as my headache became bad




"You have to purchase your bride as per the tradition, besides, Dark Moon's business has been in a lot of loses. They are literally broke, Fabian is now trying to make sure he handles everything, his father has not been the same since their mother's death" He answered




"He would hate me if I did anything you are hinting me to" I told him shaking my head, I don't think I can do anything to risk my friendship




"Vin, you really don't have an option, you will have to tell him everything honestly, and because of the tradition we will be able to save their business so the pack can continue to live in peace" Elvin said, no matter what he said nothing makes sense to be honest




"He can literally take a loan from the market and get everything sorted, why will he want to agree to what I am saying. He loves his sister a lot, he will kill me the moment he realizes what I am up to" I explained




"His company's reputation is quiet bad at this moment, they need a lot of help to be able to get their business back on track to be able to provide for their pack" he persuaded




"He still won't agree" I said shaking my head in denial, I know it's a bad idea




"Vin, you really have no other option here, be honest with Fab, and use your power as the King if you have to because you know the circumstances will be extremely bad if we don't do what we are asked to" he warned, I know he is right, but how can I do this, I know I really don't have an option here, I sighed as I looked at him defeatedly




"I am going to try, we'll see how it goes" I told him get up from my chair walking towards the door, Elving was beside me, he stopped giving my shoulder an encouraging squeeze




"I am here with you every step of the way" he said and I was really grateful to have him and Fab as my best buddies




"Let's go down, it's almost time for lunch, which means Li and Fab are going to be here" I told him walking out of the door with him behind me




"I didn't know you were so excited to see you sister" he teased




"Yeah, I will talk to you when your sister finds her mate" I told him with a scoff and he chuckled




"I feel for the poor guy already, I am really happy you didn't let her get to you, I know she is annoying, but I hope she grows up" he replied with a sigh




"Veronica will never grow up, I really think how I ended up being friends with her, I feel like strangling her neck at time" I told him with a sigh




"I know, but we will try to not strangle or snap necks for now" he chuckled




We continued to talk and chat as Elvin tried to make me laugh by cracking stupid jokes to lift my spirits as we walked down the stairs to the ground floor to meet our family
