Chapter 26: I Owe You

"You're finally here," he says as the knife presses into his throat, "Let's get out of the open before they come back, I know you have questions". Without answering him, I enter the nearest room and wait for him to follow. Once he closed the door behind him, he starts telling me what happened. His version lines up with the Doc's and Michelle's so I know he's telling the truth. After he tells me what happened he drops to his knees, "I'm sorry for not being able to properly protect the alpha" he says with his head down, "I know I'm a failure so...". I quickly interrupt him, "I'm not your uncle, I don't need you to pay for anything with your life". Facing him, "you were smart, you played along and secretly helped my family. There is nothing I could ever do to repay you for that. At this moment I'm the one that owe's you, so do me a favor and get off your knees, we really don't have time for this." If my dad's not here then I need to figure out where they have him. Based off of what Tristan overheard, they are keeping him in an abandoned building on some unclaimed land. "Who the hell is leading this attack?" I ask out loud. Tristan said that only Seth and the rogues know what their leader looks like. "Okay, I need to get to Lily," I say as I pull out my karambits again. Clearing his throat, "About your sister..."; we didn't have time for this so I cut him off again, "she's your mate right? I guessed it from the moment you stepped foot on pack grounds 5 years ago. You've proven yourself since then, the only thing I want you to focus on right now is protecting her and getting me to her as soon as possible without being noticed, understood?". He nods and walks out ahead of me, as we make our way downstairs to the hidden hallway to the saferoom, we hear muffled groans from the pack dungeon. Stopping by the secret entrance I see him balling his fists and looking down the hallway leading to the cells. I rest my hand on his shoulder and told him I would take care of it, I needed him to help get the doc in there once I was done.

Running my hand across the wall, I find and press the secret tile. A screen pops up and I enter my personal pin and scan my palm. The wall slides away and the passage opens up before me. "I'll link you when I'm on my way back out", I say and head down the hallway, "got it" he says as the wall closes behind me. "Enya, we'll check how they're doing quick and then reclaim the pack," I say as I head to our safe room, "Yes, I want to see how our family is first too" she answers back. Stopping at the door in front of me and looking at the key pad on the front of it, I punch in my personal code and the door slides open. As I step in, Lily's head pops up from the couch and a wave of relief washes over me as she starts crying. "Why do always wear that creepy ski mask?" asks in between sniffles. I quickly walk over to her and comfort her. She shows me mom and Seb, they're practically in a comatose state. Looking at Seb's chart I see that he was injected with something in the back of his neck after he was attacked. He's alive simply because he held out until William found him and brought him home in time. Taking a look at what they found in his blood I knew exactly what they injected him with, a cell destabilizer, one similar to what I used on Levius 4 years ago. I reach into my mini combat bag and pullout an anti-serum, it will cancel out the destabilizer and help rebuild damaged cells. The doc had already started cleaning his blood, but without anti-serum he would’ve remained in a coma. I grab a syringe and inject him directly in the heart, that way as it pumps it will send the anti-serum everywhere quickly. I squeeze his hand and tell him he did good. Then I went over to my mom’s room, she had wounds all over her body but I know they all didn’t belong to her, some of these are dad’s wounds too. Mom, is an elemental, and being of alpha blood she is one of the purest of her former pack. Thankfully that means she has a few abilities others don’t, like being able to take on another person’s wound and heal it. She has a nasty gash on her abdomen that keeps bleeding, and there’s also the stab wound in her chest. She’s trying desperately to keep dad alive. I grab a vile of my strongest medicine and inject it directly into the chest wound. “What’s that?” Lily asks, “the secret medicine” I answer. Squeezing mom’s hand she says, “I didn’t think we’d ever really need to use it”, I rub her head and say, “none of us did”. I tell her to expect them to stir or wake by the ending of the night. "You're coming back right?" she asks worriedly, with a warm smile I reassure her, "is there any reason I wouldn't sis?".

Now that I've taken care of Mom and Seb, it's time to fully reclaim our pack house. Walking into the mini control room, I sit and input my personal override code. After that I hit record and let out a low warning growl, the moment the override goes into effect it will play the recording as a warning for all our pack members to stay out of the way and to stand down at once. I thought dad was insane to have this protocol but now I see why he kept it. I walk out and let Lily know that the override would go into effect in 20 minutes and that I would let her know when it's okay to open up the door. I walk to another wall and shift one of the pictures on it. The wall opens up revealing the secret stairs to the alpha office, I didn't bother checking if anyone was in there because it won't change the fact that I'm going to kill them once I get there. The wall closes behind me and I walk up the stairs and stop in front of the office wall. Taking a deep breath, I pull out my 2 bowie knives. I kill the power for the office and input the code to open the secret door. Once the wall opens up I smell one a couple feet ahead of me. "What the fu--?" he says right before his blood splatters the table in front of him.
