Chapter 14

After leaving Mr. Hollard's house, she entered her car and tried to calm herself down. If only she knew it was going to be this embarrassing and a total waste of time, she wouldn't have dared to visit. Mr Hollard was truly an annoying old man and he was good at pissing Sharon off!.
'It didn't go well?" The driver asked as he turned back to look at her. One would tell she didn't have a good night rest. Her eyes looked puff and her mood was greatly soured. She looked a bit better before she entered but it became worst as she came out of the compound and the driver couldn't help but show concern to his boss.

Sharon sighed and hissed as she her head replayed the look on Mr Hollard's face and her eyes tuned red.'So because I'm a woman. Is that why they look down on me? They think i can't get that position? Really?" Sharon asked as if she was referring it to the driver. The poor middle aged man just stared at her like he was watching a TV show of his favorite characters but the truth was that he hated to see his boss like this.

'I know you can." Mr. Joel, the driver uttered as if trying to encourage her not to give up. He knew her to be brave and intelligent, a strong woman that fought her way up, all alone. No siblings, no parents, no lover. The only thing was her lack of respect. She acts like she could get anything. But that was just the truth! She had always gotten every thing she wanted no matter how hard it was as she was a very courageous woman and a determined person at that. She had never been like this before. She was always the one taking the lead and making her opponent regret facing her off anytime and all the time but why? Why was things turning away from her this time around?
Is Daniel that much of a person? Is he truly Insourmountable? The answer caused the driver to shiver in fear!.

'Thanks" Sharon replied grudgingly. Nothing would make her happy today again as her morning already proved silly. . "So, what is next?" She said and her eyes met with Mr. Joels'.

'I should be asking you that. Maybe, go back home?" Mr. Joel suggested with a smile on his face.

Sharon was quiet for about a minute before concluding on something. The more she wasted time, the more ken would stay in jail. It was obvious no one was going to help her. They didn't want to be on the bad side. So she thought but the truth was, her attitude was creating enemies. She had to do something to help ken, 'Take me to Daniel." She uttered with a low tone. She didn't want to do this but ken was too old to stay in the cell for too long and she didn't want to regret this...

Mr. Joel understood her and nodded, 'Okay. Put on your seat belt." He reminded her and smiled inwardly. He really wanted to see and talk to Pa yang too.

However, the drive to the company was very quiet, Sharon couldn't help but think about how the meeting would be. She and Daniel were never the best type of people to be in the same place as they never agreed on the same thing before. She was nervous about what would happen today and as soon as the car parked near the entrance, She got out without a word. She sighed one last time and calmed her mind... " He might be cold and all but he is not God!" She told herself and her heart immediately became calm.. She looked so determined that Mr. Joel wondered what the poor lady was up to. Though he wished everyone would understand her just like him and ken does but it was difficult... Veru difficult for people to understand her rude behaviors despite her stunning looks!.

Mr. Daniel was in his office and so busy checking out all the paperwork when Sharon barged the door open and walked in. Behind her was his secretary. She looked fearful and gave her boss a sad look. She had earlier tried to stop Sharon from coming in but, she just didn't want to listen. And the lady knew if it continues, she would one day kiss her well paid job a goodbye. She was so mad at Sharon that she wished she could drag her out no matter what her status might be but Daniel nodded at her and gave her the permission to leave without looking angry at all.

'Your new habit of barging in without permission is quite impressive." Daniel smiled at their direction. But the smile was quite cold and eery.

'It is not like you're banging a girl and doesn't want anyone in. This is an office not your house." Sharon responded and the secretary behind her almost cried. Her boss was never a calm person!

'Sir, I am so..." His secretary, Angelina didn't even finish her sentence when Daniel winked at her reassuringly. Daniel knew she tried her best to stop Sharon, so, why should he blame the lady? He really had no reason to and he wasn't at all.

'It is fine. You can leave." Daniel answered calmly with his eyes still on Sharon. Angelina left them but was still not sure if her boss has forgiven her. It was the second time such a thing was happening and Daniel wasn't the type to give people chances. He was never calm and every one knew that. After the secretary left, Daniel turned to Sharon and frowned a little 'You see how you scared her, huh?" He asked.

Sharon rolled her eyes and sat down without being permitted to, 'And so?" She asked back. Daniel shook his head in disappointment. He almost forgot she was a savage. She would never change her ways but it wasn't like he wanted her to, anyway!.

'Uhmmmm..." Daniel smirked and sat comfortably. He overlooked her presence and continued with what he was doing. Well, he was excited knowing the fact that she came because of her arrested secretary, that made him very relaxed that he was the one that was still leading. Her pride didn't let her come sooner but He didn't care and he wouldn't mind if she never came either.

'You should know the reason i came." Sharon suddenly uttered with a low tone. This was the point where she wished she never had to speak about but she had no choice.

"Only if you didn't barge in and sit without permission. But, i should still ask, right? So tell me Miss Sharon, what brings you here? Or have you come here to pick up on me? Or yes, you got a proof to my crime?" Daniel asked with a mockery tone and it upset her.

'Nice one. You can try better than that." She paused and studied Daniel but as usual, he just only smiled back.

"What do you want?" Daniel looked serious as he asked. He didn't have all the time in the world to exchange words with a lady that has no manners and sees herself like a goddess of which he doesn't see. To him, she was just like an ant he could step on at anytime but one thing that annoyed him was the fact that her words always pained her and he wondered why but he wasn't the only one, was he?
No, his words hurts Sharon more than anything in the world too!.

'Release my secretary." She just ordered and Daniel looked stunned, He couldn't believe her guts.

"Is that a command or you're begging me to?" Daniel's question kept her speechless for a minute or two, 'I can leave him there for as long as i want. Or have you forgotten the reason for his arrest?" He added with a little smirk on his face.

Sharon knew he was right. She didn't know how to beg. She had never done that before.

"I know but, what is the point of keeping an old man in jail. He suffered alot already." She defended but it made Daniel annoyed the more. He wondered if she ever had anyone that liked her in her whole life.

He frowned a little and crossed his legs 'He should have thought about that when he tried to tarnish my reputation and boldly called the police on me. He really got the guts. How are my sure he is not a long time wanted criminal." Daniel said with a serious look on.

Sharon flared up!."ken only did it for me. He is not a criminal." She hated the fact that Daniel was correct and they had to conclude on something, "So what do you want me to do?" She forced herself to ask and Daniel burst out laughing. He couldn't believe what he heard. Was she giving up already?

'Ha ha ha ha... What did you say?" He asked with a bold smile. Enjoying the moment and would have paid any amount of money to see the angry look on Sharon's face.


Some seconds later, Ray came in with a tattered looking man,he was looking so unkept and dirty. No one would have doubted it if they were told that he was a mad man but he wasn't. He was sane and well!.
"How can I help you?"Daniel asked without battling an eye at the man standing in front of him.

"Can I talk to you alone?" The man asked in return, looking at the guards surrounding him. The look in his eyes was that of fear but his tone was so calm that one would doubt he was scared at all and that impressed Daniel.

Daniel looked up to see the man in front of him and he frowned a little. He had never set his eyes on the man before.
"Okay then" He uttered after he had looked at the man for a very long time.. He waved his hands to dismiss his guards but Ray was hesitant. He didn't want to leave his boss with such an haggard looking man. He felt like his boss would get hurt if he was to be left alone with that man.
"Sir are you sure you want to left alone with this man,he looks dangerous" He mumbled his concern to his boss but then...

Daniel glared at him again and he knew he was overstepping his boundaries.
He bowed his head and left the room but that was only after he reassured himself that his boss wasn't that easy of a man.

"Have a seat"Daniel said gesturising with his hands and the man nodded.

"Thanks"the man said fearfully and sat down. Being alone with Daniel was scarier than being with the body guards and he was starting to regret his decision to talk with Daniel privately but he had no choice and he could no longer say something else.
"So what do you want to say?" Daniel asked without much interest.

"I came to warn you Mr Daniel"the man face suddenly changed and his tone became different too . He was like a completely different man but Daniel wasn't moved at all.

"Here to warn me?" He was surprised and smirked but he still decided to listen anyway "about what?" He asked almost laughing to himself.
The man was quiet for a while and he searched the room with his eyes. His reaction was that of someone being watched and that made Daniel only more confused about the identity of the man. "Someone is after your life"the man quickly uttered with a serious face.

"After my life?"Daniel said uncertain if he heard the man clearly. He always knew people were after his life due to the nature of his job but he was surprised that someone was warning him about it and the man seemed really scared despite the fact that the person they were talking about wasn't there.

"Yes, you have to be very careful Mr Daniel"the man muttered and stood up. He walked to the other side of his seat and knelt down right in front of Daniel.
" Please be safe, Mr Daniel!" He said and stood up.

Daniel was shocked by the message and he was really curious too..
"Someone is after my life? why?"he muttered to himself.
He wasn't scared of the threat but he wanted to know who could be after his life.
The thought of someone wanting to kill him made him made him want to laugh as he loved people daring him. He was never scared of threat neither had he ever waste his time thinking about them but this was different... he could feel it.. Yes... The enemy would he tough and he was sure of that!.
He tried to ponder on who could be after his life but the only person that appeared on his mind was...
"Could it be Sharon?she was trying to get rid of me after all~" he said to himself but he was quick to deny that!. " No it can't be her she's not that desperate"he muttered to himself while cracking his Rubik's cube. He knew Sharon was desperate but he was sure she would never go to the extent of trying to eliminate him.
" Do you know who the person is?" He asked the dirty man curiously.
The man frowned a little before he turned to leave " I will leave now. " he said and ran out of the office. .

Daniel was still on this thought when Ray walked in, looking unimpressed.
"Sir, Miss Sharon is here to see you again." He told Daniel.

"Let her in"he said almost immediately. He needed to know if she was the one trying to kill him and he must figure that out.

"Ok sir" Ray said and walked out. He really didn't like Sharon coming around at all. Not even after the mad man just left and he was sure the dirty man had came to deliver a sad news to his boss due to the look on Daniel's face when he entered.

A few seconds later, Sharon walked in with her head held high and looking prettier than ever as she had applied little make up on her face before coming.
" Why am I doing this?" She had asked herself several times before leaving her house when she was doing the makeup but she got no answer. She wasn't the type to care about makeup as her beauty was enough for her but today, she found it really difficult to leave her home without applying some makeup and she wondered why.
"Hi,Mr Daniel!"she greeted in a sweet and calm tone and Daniel knew immediately that she was up to something but he couldn't imagine she might be trying to kill him. He somehow trusted her and it was because he was confident in his instinct about people around him.

Daniel looked up from his desk and smiled when he saw Sharon looking so fresh unlike when he came to rescue ken "Hi Miss Sharon, such a pleasant surprise to see you"he said and gestured his hands for her to sit opposite him.

"Thanks"she said and sat down. She didn't sit down on her own consent like she always did but she instead waited like a good guest that was supposed to be offered a seat. She even asked the secretary for permission before coming in which quite surprised Daniel.

"So, what brings you here"he said coldly.

"I actually came to tell you thank you for releasing my ken,I really appreciate it"she said looking down as she did not want to see his expression. It was the first time in her life that she would be saying thank you to someone and it made her look awkward and shy at the same time.

"You don't need to appreciate me,I released him on the ground that he would tell the public he was lying and only trying to defame me"he said playing with his pen and he no longer bother to look at Sharon's face anymore which somehow got Sharon disappointed.

"I know and I'll make sure he does that as soon as he is better"she said finally looking directly at him.

"By the way,how are you related to such a fraud and criminal minded man? He is old already but his tactic is childish and dirty"he said standing up. He walked over to his office sitting room and sat on the one closest to his Sharon.

"Don't push it, he's not a fraud or criminal he's like a father to me"she said getting angry. She wouldn't let anyone insult ken on any ground. He had stood by him since her father died and he was more like a father to her.

"So someone like a father to you wants to defame me"he said with a smirk and frowned. He hated this!. " This irritates me." He mumbled to himself. He wasn't in his always calm mind right now due to the message she got from the dirty man earlier and Sharon's presence was only pissing him off the more.

"He was just trying to make me win"she said trying to reason with him and defend him too.

"I guess it runs in the family"he muttered out enough for her to hear and crossed his legs, looking away.

"I'm not here to get into an argument with you okay." She said, already losing her temper. " In fact,, im leaving right now!" she added, standing up ready to leave.

"If that's all you want to say you say,you may take your leave. We are still opponents after all and your presence is really pissing me off today.
I believe you leaving now is the best thing to do. Leave my office, Miss Sharon" Daniel said sincerely,, turning his back on her and facing the window. He was no longer going to consider her presence any longer.

"Have a good day then"she said and stormed out of his office. Her face was completely red and she was at the verge of tears as she left the office with her steps so fast that one would fear she might fall. She felt extremely disappointed.
