Vida

Villa Philipides, Island of Spiros, year 2025

Alex:
When she confessed that the little boy was mine, I didn’t believe her. And I paid dearly for it.
We have been together, these past three years, we are a couple for all instances and porpuses, but she refuses to marry me. She was very offended when I didn’t take her word for it.
I told her a thousand times that I had no issue with raising the child as my own, but she demanded a DNA test. When the result came, I wanted to kill myself again.
The testing reported a 99.99 percent compatibility, proving that she hadn’t lied…and that I was the world’s dumbest asshole. Although, by the time we had the results, I had spent weeks with Alejandro and the more I played with him and noticed his curious, intelligent mind and adventurous spirit, the more convinced I became that I had made a huge mistake by not believing my woman.
Our permanent residence is in Cuba, in Havana, in the little house where it can be said that everything began, we come here, to Spiros once or twice a year, on vacation… when her work allows it because the very stubborn and contradictory witch refuses to stop working.

I couldn’t understand her, with all the money I have she doesn’t need to keep doing so. One day we had a very ugly argument about it, and she told me that it was her purpose, that the ruby had lost its powers but that she was still tied to the promise to help the sick and suffering…I never touched the subject or tried to make her change her mind again.
She takes a shower while I look at her curiously through the glass.
—Don’t look at me like that.- she scolds me.
— I shouldn’t look at you like what?
—As if you wanted to eat me.-she screeches, as she grabs the towel drying herself.
—Oh, I want to eat you little witch…- I reply playfully. -…and not just in a sexual way.
We laugh like crazy, sometimes we have fun, remembering and recreating some of the situations we lived together. Like two nights ago, we went to the strip of beach and devoured each other with kisses there.
She gets dressed and I roll my eyes at her, I don’t even know why she’s trying, I’m already planning the fastest way to take off the robe she’s put on.
— Is Ale asleep?
— Yes.
— What story did you tell him tonight?
— That of the Gaugamela battle.
—Ah…he likes that one a lot, I thing it’s become his favorite.-She smiles.
— Yes, and I am grateful to you, for allowing me to tell him about my past victories.
—He’s your son, Alex.- she answers seriously. – it’s to be expected that you want to teach him to speak Greek and that you share with him important moments of your history. I wouldn’t deny those privileges. God! I thought you knew me better than that.
—I’m so proud of him. He is a very smart boy.
—And a rascal.
—That too.
She comes into my arms making my heart rumble.
Theos! Over the years she’s has gotten even sexier.
I kiss her and she kisses me, but there is something that bothers me, there is a thorn that is still stuck in my heart.

—Marry me.-I beg for the fifteenth time this week.
—No.
—Don’t you think you’ve already punished me enough? I made a mistake and I fixed it, I apologized, I’ve been asking for forgiveness for years. Don’t be so spiteful, mágissa mou.
She looks at me sideways.
— You gave Ale your last name because he is your son and it was your duty, but…
— Little witch…
By the gods, she’s such an infuriating woman! But, truth is, I wouldn’t want her any other way.
—I said no, Alex.
She’s in a bad mood, this way she won’t give in, therefore…I chose to sweeten her a little with kisses and caresses until she is more receptive.
—Marry me.- I insist.
She bites my lower lip angrily and shakes her head.
— Well then…- I whisper against her chin. -If you don’t wish to be my wife, then give me another child.
She freezes, petrified, a frightened expression on her face.
—Was it that bad?- I ask. Cursing myself for my mistakes, I shouldn’t have asked her to cast that spell, I shouldn’t have asked her to release me…if I had waited a bit, I would have been able to be there when my son was born.
— No. It wasn’t that bad, it’s just…
— I would like to give Alejandro a brother or sister.
She smiles, she really likes it when I call our miracle by his name, the same as mine.
— I want to do things right this time. I will be by your side, I will accompany you every step of the way.
She rolls her eyes incredulously and that’s what bothers me the most, we’re together, we sleep together every night, we make love…but deep down, she doesn’t trust me.
—To tell the truth…I’m nothing but selfish dog.- I confess and her eyes shine, as I take off her robe, slipping between her legs. I know her as I know myself, she loves to hear me say how evil I am. – if I’m totally honest, what I am is a misogynistic pig.
I take her, and she wraps her legs around my hips, moving with me, making love to me.

— I just want to inflate my ego, seeing how your belly grows, and knowing that what you carry inside is all mine. Yes…I want to fill you up with my seed and watch you bloom, precious.
She trembles, closing her eyes and moaning to the beat of my thrusts.
— And then… after you give birth, I want to fight with the baby, for the privilege of drinking from…
—Alex!- she stammers, scolding me.
—I already said it, precious…I’m a selfish, misogynistic and possessive dog.

**9 months later.**

Yolie:
—Damn it, Alex. I hate you!
—You’re not serious, precious.
— Damn it!- I snarl.- damned you and damned our last vacation on Spiros!
They allowed him to be present in the delivery room, under the condition of being silent and heloing me relax, he hasn’t been able to, I’ve spent the last three hours cursing him and his entire family. Specially his long gone mother…
—Come on, just push a little more.- Osvy insists. The poor guy is out of luck, this time I went into labor at midnight, right as the last bell rang.
—Arrrrrrrrrgh, shut up you too!- I yell.
And with that last push, I brought my daughter into this world.

0000

—She’s so cute.- Alex whispered after the nurse bathed her, and deposited her in my arms.
—Hello little sister.-Ale greeted her, a little disappointed, because we hadn’t given him the little brother we had promised.
—She looks like her mother.- Laisa commented, smiling as she took from me and carried her second foster niece in her arms.
—Yes, she’s beautiful, just like her mother.- Alex whispers.
—What name shall we give her?- I asked, it was only fair that he chose the name, after all, he hadn’t been present to name his son.
— What do you think if we call her… Aida?- he proposes, his eyes filled with all the love I ever wanted, all the love I saw, three years ago, when I fell from the Malecon wall into his arms.
I looked into his eyes, those mismatched eyes… which after all this time still have me in love.
I think it’s about time you cut your nonsense, Yolie, I thought to myself.
—Would you marry me, Alex?- I asked.
He blinked a couple of times, puzzled, then he kissed my forehead nervously and smiled.
— Áse me na se latrépso theá.
—Is that a yes?- I asked.
—Yes, my precious little witch, I shall marry you.- His eyes sparkled with mischief, while he took my lips in a sweet long kiss.

Author's note:
Hello my freaky darling, thank you for reading my novel this far.
On September 2021 I suffered covid 19 and during said sickness this novel's prologue I dreamed just as described. I swear I woke up scared shitless, believing that I was really going to die. Then, as days went on i saw I was going to survive and thought , hey, this looks like an amazing first scene for a story. I began writing the whole thing, only stopping to make wikipedia searches in order to stay as faithful as possible to the coven member's actual lives.
I also did some research about famous witches thought history, that how I knew about Katherine Desayes and Katerine Laveau, they are sure one and the same in my humble opinion.
My family's last name is Bruzain, and we have always felt a certain attraction to witchcraft, that's why am such a huge fan of Harry Potter. Ja,ja.
Curiously, my second last name Bruzain keeps an astonishing resemblance to the Portuguese word Bruxa, which means witch.
Lastly, bu to not least important, I've always felt an acute admiration towards to Alexander the great, that's why I shooed him to be the oldest and most powerful of my vamps.
There are two other books after this one.
Stone Souls let us see much of what we've already known but from Patrick's point of view and centers much more on his relationship with Kits.
The third book, Ice Heart tells us the tragedy of Count Dracula's first marriage, his wife Elennah betrayed him but now she's back. Remember Eleni? Well, she graduates from college and becomes his Dracula Haus hotel's Manager. Wanna know more?? Those novels are already available in a box set format. Hey, two books for the price of one!!!
I'd love to hear your opinions on my stories, thanks again for the opportunity.
Love, Lorde Leon
