Chapter 28: We Meet Again
Dex jammed his hands into Emma’s hair and his gaze pierced her soul.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
“I got your text. If you thought I was going to let you be out here on your own, you have another thing coming,” he said.
His eyes were full of love and passion and it all enveloped her like a snuggly robe. “This isn’t your territory.”
He kissed her, then grabbed her hand. “I have special permission to bring you through this territory, but we don’t have much time.”
He snagged her suitcases then led her into the woods. “You managed to sort that out since I sent you a text?”
He stopped and looked down at her. “Let’s just say I’ve had some plans in place. “
“You knew that Lucien would kick me out.”
“I didn’t know. I assumed, Emma. There’s nothing nefarious behind me being here.”
She nodded. Dex was the wolf to trust. “Lead on.”
He began to move then stopped. “I’m glad to see you, Emma. I can’t wani to bring you home.”
Home. That word sounded so good coming from his mouth. Would his pack accept her? They were a band of misfits so they might just take to her.
They traversed the woods until they came to a lake.
“We’ll walk around it so we’re visible to anyone patrolling. I’ll feel better once I get you to Wolf Woods on the other side.”
“Let me carry a suitcase,” she said.
“No, Emma.”
His tone was firm, but not overbearing, which is why she let him keep her bags. The sun was high in the sky when they reached the other side of the lake. “We’re here.”
He dropped her bags and took her into his arms, pushing her against a tree. “I’ve been waiting for so long to do this. I’m claiming you with a kiss, Emma. You’re mine now and I’m not giving you up.”
Her heart was so full it could have burst. This wolf was hers. She was safe now. His lips on her hinted at the passion he felt. “There are things I want to do to you right here, but I respect you enough that I don’t want to do those things in public.”
She kissed him back, her fingers clawing at his back. If she could have stripped him down right there she would have. He finished the kiss. “We have tonight. I have nowhere to be and I’ve made it clear I’m not to be bothered.”
A delicious chill went through her. “Oh, Dex.”
“Come on. You must be hungry.”
He picked up her bags and led her to a log cabin. She stopped to admire its dormers and wide plank front porch. “This is yours?”
“Yes,” he said, his chest puffed out.
Wide plank boards on the porch were what she’d dreamt about. She’d once described her perfect house to him. What stood before her might as well have been drawn from her mind. Dex had listened. She wasn’t surprised, but the power of that took away her breath. “This is, well, perfect.”
He kicked at the dirt by his feet. “You like it?”
She spun to him. “I love it, Dex. You built my dream house.”
“I had always hoped I’d see you again, but I’d never expected you’d be here. When you described it to me I fell in love with it as you did.”
“You built this,” she said.
“Yes. I know I didn’t mention that earlier because I wanted it to be a surprise.”
Emma grinned at him. How had she ever let this wolf go? What had she been thinking? He was perfect. “Oh, Dex show me the inside.”
Emma followed him into a two-story foyer that led to a great room. She spun around, trying to take it all in at once. When she stopped and looked at Dex, he had an amused expression on his face. “What?”
“I’m enjoying your reaction to it,” he said. “It is as good as I hoped.”
He put her bags at the bottom of a staircase. “You need food.”
She was hungry. The day had been a jumble of emotions and it was only half over. “Yes.”
Dex’s kitchen was a cook’s dream. He pulled out items and whipped up some food for them. “I cook some.”
“You learned?”
He shrugged, setting a plate in front of her. “I got tired of takeout.”
She laughed and dug her fork into what looked like a stew. “Elk?”
“And bison.”
“This is really good.”
He sat down next to her with his own plate. “Do you have plans, Emma?”
“What do you mean?”
“What is going to happen to you and Lucien? I need to know because I don’t want my heart toyed with.”
Emma put down her fork. “I have grounds for divorce since Lucien kicked me off pack territory. I’ll file the paperwork tomorrow. I have a witness that can attest to what he did.”
Dex let out a breath. “So you are truly mine?”
“Yes, Dex, I’m here.”
He smiled. “Good. Finish up because we have plans.”
“Oh?”
“You, me, and several horizontal and vertical surfaces.”
She blinked, then laughed, suddenly not hungry anymore, at least not hungry for food. “We can eat this later.”
“Emma, darling, I like how you think.”
He put out his hand and Emma took it. He led her up the stairs to a bedroom, but all Emma saw was Dex. Her Dex. Her lover. He kissed her and she ran her hands under his shirt feeling the muscles bunching at his back.
“Emma,” he whispered. “You’re beautiful.”
She bit his lower lip and he growled. He walked her to the nearest wall and pressed his body up against hers. “Dex.”
He yanked her shirt over her head and his eyes roved over her naked torso. He pulled off his shirt then took care of her bra, their skin pressed together in desire. His warmth infused her and her pulse raced. He kissed her again, then nipped down her neck. She dug her nails into him her body arching. “Now, Dex.”
He stepped away and her body mourned the loss of his touch. He knelt in front of her, his gaze molten. He undid her pants and slid them down her body until she was naked in front of him. He leaned towards her, his hands on her thighs. “Spread your legs for me, Emma.”
She did and her hands fisted in his hair as his tongue danced over her. He’d learned a few things since she’d known him. Her body tensed and she cried out from the climax. Her legs went rubbery. Dex scooped her up and laid her on his bed. He disrobed and lay next to her as she recovered. “Wow.”
He smiled. “I like that word.”
She rolled over on top of him, straddling him, her hands on his chest. He cupped her breasts, flicking her nipples with his thumbs. His erection nudged at her and she wriggled on him. He put his hands on her hips. “I want to be inside of you, Emma.”
He lifted her onto him and she paused to take in his length. Dex. She set up a rhythm and their bodies came together as if they’d never realized they’d been apart. Her body tightened in anticipation of the next orgasm. Dex groaned. “Let go, Emma.”
She did and her body arched and bucked and Dex hung onto her. His body went over the cliff with her a few minutes later. He slumped onto him and he rubbed her back. “You okay?”
“I couldn’t be better, Dex.”
He chuckled. “Good. We’re not done, but I might need to finish our food.”
She slid off of him. “I don’t want to move yet.”
“You don’t have to. We can stay here as long as you need.”
She snuggled up against him. This was right. This was where she was supposed to be. “Dex. I don’t want to leave this room.”
“You don’t have to yet.” His phone on the nightstand dinged. “I have to look at that.”
A curse came out of him and he sent a message back.
“Problem?”
“I think the guard who dropped you off, might have followed us Brutus is on it.”
“This is why I didn’t want to come here.”
“Relax, Emma. Tonight is ours. No one will intrude.”
“Still Dex. They’ve come into your territory.”
“They’ll be escorted off once we know where they came from. Please don’t worry Emma.”
She sighed. “Okay. If you insist.”
But she did worry because she knew Lucien could be ruthless.
