Chapter 16 Lose
The reason Caesar didn't contact her over the weekend was that he couldn't determine Grace's current state and he didn't like to do things without certainty.
He needed to see for himself, just like that time he flew back overnight from Japan.
On Monday, he saw her.
Confirming that she saw him as a man who appeared respectable on the surface but was wild in private.
She wanted to keep her distance from him.
Caesar waited again.
Waiting until she finished work and it was almost time for her to return home, he sent her a message.
He understood that from now on, their chatting frequency would decrease due to her busy work schedule.
Grace's words were tactful, without explicitly asking him not to contact her.
Contact her.
But she knowsew that he can't nothad to understand.
She also doesidn't want C to know about this, s. She needssed time to digest it.
In the office, Caesar sat on the couch and looked at the messages on his phone, but he didn't pause for too long.
C: Okay then.
He only said two words, because he didn't know what else he could say besides "okay then."
He shouldn't know what happened between Grace and Caesar, h. He had no reason to sense that something was wrong. Especially when she made such a serious request, he couldn't not respectrefuse but only to accept or agree.
A subtle sense of uncontrollable, which Caesar unwillingly admitted, rosee from his body once again. Maybe when the first video ended, he should have decisively ended this relationship.
He underestimated Grace's influence on him and overestimated his own restraint towards Grace.
The office was quiet, and there was no one in the hallway.
Caesar asked James for a complete accommodation list. The entire team, except Caesar and the drivers, were assigned to floors eight to twelve. Grace was on the eighth floor, and he was on the sixteenth floor.
She put herself as far away from him as possible.
Caesar sat on the couch without moving, his elbow resting on his knee, lips lightly pursed.
He knew that now it was not the time to think about these things now. H, he had more important things to do. But he had been in a vague unease the entire weekend, until he saw Grace today.
She had come and stirred up all the uneasiness he had suppressed in his heart.
Caesar gave himself ten minutes to consider Grace's situation.
He didn't plan on telling Grace directly that he was C because the connection established online could never be strong, and deeper emotions required physical contact. So he wasn't sure if Grace would be angry and leave once she knew the truth.
But now, he had lost the channel to learn about Grace's thoughts through the internet. She had made up her mind not to tell him about it.
To some extent, Caesar knew that Grace didn't want her master to leave her. That was a good thing.
However,But on the other hand, Caesar hoped that he could also naturally talk to Grace in real life, like they did last Friday.
But now, she said they needed to keep their distance.
Caesar's breathing became heavy and slow in silence as he carefully considered and assessed.
He thought that maybe he should wait until after the first race.
He wasn't really in a position to handle these things at the moment, and Grace's request was somewhat of a good thing for him. He needed to focus on racing and couldn't have any distractions.
The phone alarm on the coffee table went off, t. Ten minutes had passed.
Caesar decided to temporarily suppress this matter with Grace and find a solution after the first race-
Two days later, the entire team flew to Melbourne.
MarcThe raceh is in Melbourne.
This summer, everyone in Melbourne has shed their winter clothes and put on light short sleeves and skirts. As the temperature rises, people's mood improves as well.
Initially, Grace had been worried about whether her boss would be upset for a few days, but her boss quickly agreed and gave her enough space. Grace felt respected and felt that her words were being taken seriously.
After arriving in Melbourne, her worries were quickly washed away by the new surroundings. This was her first time participating in a competition with a team. After everyone checked in at the hotel, they were free to do as they pleased. There were no scheduled work activities for the day.
Grace did not stay on the tenth floor with her colleagues from the PR department. Instead, she stayed on the eighth floor, where most of the Pit Crew and vehicle engineers were staying.
The elevator, filled with people and luggage, stopped on the eighth floor. A group of men walked out, with Grace following behind. One man noticed and stopped, taking Grace's luggage for her.
Grace looked up and said, "Thank you, Dan."
Dan is the engineer for another driver on the team, Seth. He is responsible for communicating and relaying instructions to the driver during races. He is Mexican, with deep eyes and a tall stature. His personality is exceptionally cheerful.
Grace doesn't usually have much contact with him because they have different job positions and don't have many opportunities to meet. However, Dan must have seen her during company meetings, and Grace had seen him in last year's race broadcast.
Dan offered a helping handhelped her, and Grace didn't hesitate to thank him for his assistance. It only took a few seconds for them to go from unfamiliar to chatting like old friends. They walked along the corridor together and discovered that their rooms were right next to each other.
Dan said, "What a coincidence,. I was destined to bring you here."
Grace smiled, her eyes creasing. "What a coincidence indeed, but thank you anyway."
Dan chuckled. "No need to thank me,Never mind. Iit's just a small favormy pleasure."
"I'll treat you toLet me buy you a cup of coffee," Grace said. "I've heard that Australian coffee is delicious, and I haven't tried it yet."
Dan smiled. "Right, this is your first time here. I know a famous café nearby that the team often goes to. After we drop off our luggage, I'll take you there."
"No problem, m. My treat!"
Grace entered the room, feeling extremely pleased. Although she wasn't on the same floor as James and the others, she quickly made new friends. The successful socializing at work made Grace happy and fulfilled.
She rolled around on the soft bed and took out toiletries and clothes from her suitcase to go to the bathroom. The exhaustion from the long flight was swept away by the excitement of being in a new place.
Grace wore a delicate yellow sundress with thin straps and a slightly stretchy slim cut skirt. The fabric was thin and breathable, with scattered flower patterns on it, and the hem reached the middle of her thighs.
As she left the room, Grace put on a pair of white sneakers. Her black hair hadn't completely dried yet. After walking out of the hotel with Dan, the dry wind blew through Grace's hair, evaporating the moisture and bringing a more refreshing feeling.
Grace felt completely relaxed all over.
Dan looked at her attire and said, "It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that you are a local girl who resides in Melbourne."
Grace laughed, causing her shoulders to lift slightly.
The two of them walked along the road outside the hotel and arrived at a coffee shop, which wasn't very big but had quite a few people waiting for their meals.
Grace and Dan lined up to place their ordersorder, chatting and moving with the line.
Nearby, at the pick-up counter, various names were called from time to time.
Finally, it was Grace and Dan's turn to order. She ordered a cup of Australian specialty coffee, Flat White, for herself, and a cup of his favorite hot chocolate for Dan.
During payment, Grace said, "I'll treat you."
Dan smiled and said thank you.
When Grace's bank card made a beep sound, she took back the card and heard someone at the pick-up counter call out, "Caesar."
Grace couldn't help but turn her head to look.
Caesar stood up from a nearby spot and walked towards them at a surely pace.
Dan greeted Caesar, and Caesar nodded calmly at the two of them before picking up his coffee from the pick-up counter.
He turned around without hesitation, and his gaze didn't linger on Grace at all.
Holding his coffee, Caesar walked towards the direction of the hotel.
The Espresso Blend in his hand was very hot.
- especially when the lid was pushed off and it overflowed, soaking Caesar's wrist.
