Chapter Forty Eight

Mila's body ached as she slowly opens her eyes. Someone had an arm draped over her and she didn’t understand why. She was also sore in places that she had never been sore before. She looks over her shoulder and her eyes widen as everything that happened the night before came back to her full throttle. Jared was completely dead to the world, and she knew he was going to be very upset when he wakes up to find them both naked together.
He was drunk last night, and she had completely took advantage of that. Regardless that she herself had been intoxicated. She covers her face with her hands. She was a horrible person! Here she was laying with an almost married man. Her eyes pop open. Stacy! She almost groaned aloud, what had she done? She slowly and carefully moves away from him without trying to wake him up.
She tiptoed to where her clothes were. "Shit!" She whispers.
Where the hell were her underwear? She quickly puts her clothes on, thinking she’ll look for them later. She nearly freezes when Jared makes a noise and rolls over, but he doesn’t wake up. She sighs in relief. She was about to move away when suddenly something catches her eye.
"Oh no.” she mouths in total to dismay and embarrassment because when Jared moved he revealed a dark red stain that could only be her virgin blood. What was she going to do the now? She couldn't very well leave it there. What will her parents think if they chance upon it? It was a very big stain, not really hard to miss. She didn't think She had bled so much!
She quickly went into one of the closets in the den and took out the carpet cleaner and a fresh new rag. She slowly kneels next e to him and quickly sprays the substance on the stain. She rubs vigorously while looking up every now and then at him to make sure he wouldn’t wake up. She nearly cries out in her frustration when the damn spot wouldn’t go away. She freezes again when Jared lays on his back and she couldn’t help but stare at his beautiful body that was barely covered by the small blanket. One more inch down and his manhood would be uncovered.
Her eyes travel from that spot where glorious black curly hair started and traveled upward where the hair trailed slightly to almost his belly button, over expanse of smooth skin covering hard muscle to a bare smooth bronze chest. She felt her womanly parts flare up just by looking at him. He could be a model if he wanted do. Then she looks up at his face. He looked so peaceful. Pain shot through her chest as the realization that he wasn’t hers and most likely never will be with her. He belonged to Stacy and what happened here should not be repeated.
She just hopes he wouldn’t remember anything, although, he was naked and at her house. If he asks maybe she'll just lie and make something up. Yeah right, she was a horrible liar. Jared's not stupid. Maybe she’ll go back to Arizona for a little while longer just until he marries and moves away or something, as soon as her grandfather was safe from the surgery and back home.
Maybe.
She gave up on the stain, gets up and slowly and quietly leaves the room. She goes into the kitchen. It was only six in the morning and the surgery didn't start until nine. She went up to her room and quickly took a shower then got dressed. She heard her parents downstairs talking. Her heart raced. She really did hope they don't go in the den and find Jared. Questions would arise and she couldn’t have that. She leaves her room quickly and ushers her parents out of the house.
"What about breakfast?" Her mother asks.
"I thought we could go out and eat, you know before papa's surgery." She tells her as they get into the car.
"What’s the rush Mila?" Her father asks suspiciously.
"There’s no rush. I'm just really hungry that’s all.” She gets in the car and didn't let out her pent up breath until they were safely on the freeway.

Mila had been avoiding him all day.
Not once was she ever alone to where he could talk to her. When he woke up he had found himself alone. Of course he remembered everything, it takes a lot to get him shit faced and a half a bottle of bourbon just didn't cut it. He was surprised however to find himself completely alone inside her house. They had actually left him there although he doubted her parents even knew that he was.
She wouldn’t even look at him.
When he got dressed and found her underwear he couldn't help but smile, then it went into shock at the big red stain that was left behind. He didn't think he had hurt her that much. He went into the kitchen and found a home remedy that her mother must of made and scrubbed the shit out it. Thankfully it worked. He then went home, showered and went straight to the hospital.
She wasn’t there yet, but he knew it was only a matter of time. Waiting in the lobby gave him a lot to think about. Like what to do about Stacy. He’ll have to call off the engagement of course. How com he marry a woman, when he was in love with another and to find out that she loved him in return?
He just felt bad that he's going to break her heart and admit that he had cheated on her. He felt horrible that he did just not with who he did it with. Deep down he knew that he and Mila were meant to be together. How could they not be? After everything they went through, nearly driving him insane with wanting her, with jealousy that he couldn’t have her. If he had to really think about it, he knew he would do anything to get her the second time around.
She may not realize it now, but he wasn't going to just let her go. She was his now and he means to show her that. He wouldn't leave the room, unless she wasn’t in it. She can’t ignore him forever.
Mila sat down next to her grandfather who was still unconscious from the anesthesia. The surgery was a success, and they were all very relieved when it was finally over. Her nerves had been on high all day, with no help of Jared. The man wouldn’t go away. Everywhere she went he was there, and it unnerved her to no end. She proposedly made sure she was never alone. She didn’t know if she could handle the situation, and it made it worse when Stacy came by to see how things were doing then came up and gave her a hug.
"How are you doing?” She whispers with a smile.
"Fine, thank you." Mila couldn’t look her in the eyes.
"You know, if you ever need to talk or just simply cry on a shoulder, I’m here for you. I know how hard this must be for you Mila." She says softly.
She swallows hard. This would be so much easier if she actually disliked the girl.
"Have you decided on being one of my bridesmaids? Sel has asked you right?" she asks, and Mila wanted to bolt right then and there after seeing the hope light up in her eyes.
"Oh um…well actually I can't." She tells her.
Stacy frowns. "Why not?"
She tries desperately to think and then she blurts, "I'm leaving back to Arizona first thing next week."
"Oh." Stacy states in disappointment.
"Leaving? You said you were moving back." Jared says suddenly across the room.
Apparently he was eavesdropping on their conversation, since there was a room full of people, who now all stopped to look at her. She felt her face flush.
"Yes I did say that, but I have to go back to get all my belongings and there’s my car and my job to consider." she mumbles, not looking at him but at the ground.
Jared eyes harden at her. "And how long is that going to take?" he asks.
Mila heard the hard tone in his voice making her look up at him. He was upset. Well she didn't care. He knew that she was trying to avoid him, knew that she was once again trying to run away from this new predicament.
"I don't know it could take weeks, maybe a few months. It depends if the law firm can get me replaced. I don't want to leave them empty handed."
That was a lie but none of them knew that she had already gave the law firm a week’s notice and they most likely already found someone to replace her.
"Well, what about your grandfather?" Her mother asks now, concerned.
"Don’t worry mom, I plan on coming back, for grandpa's sake." she quickly adds.
If you like Mil, I could accompany you and help out. It would be a lot quicker, and I have a condo in Phoenix. So it will be no inconvenience for me." Evan states perking up at the idea.
"You have a condo in Phoenix?" she asks surprised.
Kristan snorts as Evan looked embarrassed. "Yeah, I have a realtor business there, I never found you cause honestly I didn't think you wanted to see me."
"Oh." Was all she could say.
Most likely he was right, she wouldn’t have wanted to see him. She didn't know if she wanted Evan along with her. She wanted to be by herself. She was going to say so when suddenly her father answered for her.
"That’s a great idea, the quicker the better."
Both Mila and Jared say at the same time, “What?"
"Oh, that’s a great idea! You guys should actually go first thing tomorrow, that way you'll be back even faster in time for mine and Jared's wedding!" Stacy says excitedly.
“But my grandpa-”
"Will be fine dear. Besides he’ll be more happy knowing that when you come back it will be for good." her mother states happily.
Great. Just great.
"Well then I’m going too." Jared shocks everyone.
He crosses his arms. There was no way in hell that he was going to let Mila and Evan be alone for however long it’s going to take for her to stop being a scared teenager that runs away all the time because that's how she was acting. She wasn't going to get rid of him that easily.
This time it was Mila and Evan who said, "What?" at the same time.
"No! No one is going with me! I'm going alone." She says angrily.
Who the hell were they all to just run her life? Suddenly she just wanted to be left alone for a little while and think on her thoughts. To figure out how she was going to live the rest of her life knowing the man she loved was going to be married and have a wife and kids and a family, suddenly it was all too overwhelming. Without anther word she storms out of the room.
She ignores her family calling out for her. Jared pushes aside Kristan, who wouldn’t leave his side all day, and went after her.
"Jared where are you going?" Stacy yells but didn’t follow because right then Cale decided to wake up.
It was Always You
