70. SILAS: CONVERSATIONS IN THE DARK

A sigh fell from my lips as Lara’s hand trailed up and down my stomach. I loved the way she traced my abs before slipping lower to the V and then up again. A thin layer of sweat still coated our skin which made goose bumps break out over my skin when her warm breath fanned against me. Our heartbeats had slowed but every time my mind trailed back to what we just experience, it would start racing again.
I reached up to wipe a stray feather away from where it was tickling my nose.
“How are we going to explain this to someone?” Lara asked, breaking the silence.
I chuckled and hugged her a little closer to my side. “We don’t need to explain anything to anyone, Lara. They get paid to clean and not ask questions.”
“The mattress is ripped! How’s that not going to make them ask questions?”
Pursing my lips, I stayed silent. What was there to say? We had destroyed the sheets, and the mattress, and the bed. I winced when I remembered the sound of the base of the bed breaking when we had fallen back onto it. Hopefully the neighbours downstairs hadn’t called security to complain. Fuck, Lara was right. How was I going to explain what happened in this bedroom?
“Is it because we’re both Lycan’s now?”
“I suppose,” I muttered. “I’ve never felt or reacted that way before.”
Lara tensed against me and then pushed herself up onto her elbow. She shifted and then leaned over me with her chin resting on my chest. I could feel her eyes burning into my skin but I didn’t look down at her.
“Before?”
I swallowed. “I’ve fucked a lot of woman before Lara.”
“Should I be worried about any exes showing up at your doorstep?”
“I said I’ve fucked a lot of women before, I never dated anybody. You’re the only woman who made me want more.” I looked at her then and gave her a small smile. “You’re the only woman who managed to get my ring onto her finger.”
She lowered her head and pressed a kiss to my chest before she pressed her cheek over the spot she just kissed. Lara fell silent again and it made me wonder if I had said the wrong thing by admitting that I’d fucked other women before. She was a virgin when I took her but then again, her ex-boyfriend was a fucking bastard.
I wrapped my arm around her waist and hugged her tighter. My fingers slowly moved up and down the raised ridges on her back. Unfortunately it was one thing that would never fade—along with the memories of being locked in that place and tortured.
“Silas?”
“Mm?”
It took her a few seconds before she spoke again. “How come Ethan’s baby was born so soon? He said that she was only five months pregnant.”
That was definitely not the question I expected her to ask. I frowned as I pondered over her question. I suspected that Avery might have been more than only five months pregnant. But then again we had some animal DNA so nothing about us was normal. My Biology lessons suddenly came back to me.
“We’re not human. Our women have a shorter pregnancy than what a human woman would have, but everyone was different. I didn’t really pay much attention in class, sweetness. The best one to answer your questions would be one of the elders or maybe my mother.”
“Speaking of your mother. . .” She trailed off. “What happened between all of you?”
“What do you mean?”
“Your parents love you but it’s like they’re always taking Ethan’s side instead of yours.”
“Like you?”
She sat up and would’ve moved away but I gripped her arm and pulled her down to my side again.
“I’m sorry,” I said. “It was a low blow.”
Lara slowly relaxed against me again. He hand lay against my lower stomach but she didn’t continue her ministrations like before. Had my words hurt her so much? I slipped my hand up her back and into her hair. Tilting her head toward mine, I leaned up and pressed a kiss against her lips.
“I’m sorry, sweetness.” I kissed her again. “Forgive me.”
“It’s not fair for you to do that to me Silas.”
“And it’s not fair for you to think of him when I’m inside you.”
“I don’t. When you kiss me and touch me, all I think about is you,” she whispered. “I don’t think about him when you touch me. I use to, at first but I know now that I can never have him.”
Lara’s hand slipped to the back of my neck. She pressed her forehead against mine. I smiled but when I moved to kiss her, she pulled away. My brows dipped into a frown. She gave my neck as squeeze and then slid her hand to my shoulder.
“Ethan is my past and you are my future. I have no right to think of him when he made his choice. Ethan has his own family now and we’re married. You’re my family. Sometimes though, my mind trails to him and everything we did while on Ottawa. I can’t help when that happens but I try not to think about it because it still hurts.”
I leaned back and pulled her on top of me. “If I had known. . .” I sighed. “I would never have let things gone so far. I should’ve thought of that but I didn’t. All I thought of was getting you through the shift. I didn’t want to lose you when I only just found you.”
Lara was silent for a while. “I don’t think any of us expected Avery to fall pregnant.”
“I can’t believe she went through with the pregnancy. When—“ I broke off, instantly regretting bringing up the past. “I’m sorry.”
“Let’s make a new start,” Lara said. “Let’s try and forget everything that has happened and just focus on our future. We can’t change the past but we have our whole future ahead of us. It’s not going to be easy living there and seeing them every day, but I know that we’ll be okay.”
“As long as I have you by my side, sweetness.”
“Always.”
I was starting to drift off when Lara moved. A moan fell from my lips when she wrapped her hand around my cock. “Lara.”
“You said that your father didn’t expect me to make it through the change.”
“Nobody did.”
“Do you. . .”
“Do I?”
I heard her swallow. “Do you think that maybe it’s possible for me to get pregnant without Ethan?” she questioned softly. “I know we just got married and that you’re probably not ready for a baby, but I’d like to try for one.”
I rolled her onto her back and hovered over her. “Are you sure that you want to? It hasn’t been that long since. . .”
“I know,” she whispered. “I want a baby of our own so bad, Silas. We can try and if that doesn’t work then we can adopt like you said.”
“Anything you want, sweetness.”
“Anything?”
I gave her a smirk when she arched her body against mine. “Anything,” I growled.
Lara pressed her hands against my chest and then pushed but I didn’t budge. Reaching down, I grabbed her hands and pushed them up to hold them down above her head. She squirmed when I started pressing open mouth kisses down her neck. I lingered on my mark before moving lower.
She sucked in a sharp breath when I wrapped my lips around her nipple and sucked it into my mouth. I circled it with the tip of my tongue and ten bit down, making her body jerk. I trailed my lips to her other nipple and repeated the action. Her low moans and squirming body spurted me on. I had to let go of her wrist when I moved down her body.
Lara instantly buried her hands in my hair and guided my head down to her pussy. So fucking demanding. I loved it! I loved the new Lara but I missed the little of the old Lara too. I trailed my nose over the damp curls before I settled on my stomach between her legs. The smell of her arousal drove my beast wild.
She was mine. Lara was mine in every possible way she could be. Now all that was left to do was make Lara carry my off spring. She has survived the change and she will bare my child. We’ll show everybody that we didn’t need them.
There was no guarantee that my seed would take but it had once and I know that things would be different this time. Lara had my DNA inside her and so would our baby. Elders were known lie about important things so I wasn’t going to go to them for answers.
We’d figure things out on our own.
