Ivy
Hailey turned around with her arms folded and leveled her an indifferent gaze. She didn't say a word.
Ashley gritted her teeth and spat, "Don't be so happy. After all, you don't know how long it is going to last."
Then, she stomped off in anger.
There were two reasons why she stopped Hailey earlier. She hated the way Hailey was leaving. Secondly, she wanted to diss her. But, Hailey was unpertubed. She watched her receding figure with a cold gaze.
She had set the bait. Only to wait for the fish to take it.
Of course, she hadn't only caused such a huge ruckus and even called the police because she wanted to deal with Hailey. She also wanted to trap a bigger boss.
But, who would that be? She didn't have a definite guess yet. She would wait for the biggest fish to take the bait.
Then, she turned around and walked up the stairs. It was time she prepared for her meet up with Ivy.
An hour later…
Ocean Restaurant
Hailey walked through the doors of the restaurant. She was putting on a white crop top over a pair of black pants with a black denim jacket. She was also putting on a pair of sunglasses so her face could not be seen clearly. Her long black hair was let down and it fell on her back, accentuating her figure.
She looked even younger than she was. She was beautiful and coupled with her nice figure, she attracted the attention of a lot of people in the restaurant.
Under the heated gazes of everyone, she walked towards the seat she and Ivy always sat whenever they met up. Ivy was seated there. When she saw Hailey approaching, she waved frantically at her with a wide smile on her face.
Hailey smiled in return and walked up to her. She pulled out the chair across her and settled in. She leaned back into the chair and folded her legs.
Then, she pulled off the glasses and said, "Hey."
"Hehe.. It's been so long I saw you. But, you've become even prettier." Ivy commented as she looked her up and down. "Mr. King is treating you quite well."
Hailey lifted an eyebrow when she heard this. She pursed her lips and gave her a teasing look. "Did I hear a hint of sarcasm from your word?"
Ivy snorted, "Tricky fellow."
Hailey laughed and didn't talk anymore. Instead, she called on to the waitress.
"What would you like to order?" The waitress asked as she stretched the menu out for Hailey to see.
Hailey smiled and looked at her. But, she didn't collect the menu. Instead, she said, "I want a plate of brisket beef and a bottle of wine."
Then, she turned to ask Ivy. "You haven't drunk any wine, I suppose?"
"Yeah."
"One bottle of Shiraz wine along with the steak," said Hailey as the waitress noted her orders down.
After the waitress left, Hailey turned to Ivy. She clasped her hand with a smile and said, "Now that I've catered to the most important thing, we can talk."
Ivy scrunched her nose and gave a glare. "Traitor. You neglect your bestie for food."
Hailey smiled.
"I'm not a foodie. I've not eaten all morning."
"You've not eaten?" Ivy raised an eyebrow. "Woman, you should take care of your health."
"Aye. Aye, ma'am."
Hailey replied in mock acceptance before asking, "How is Justin?"
Justin was Ivy's boyfriend..
Ivy looked at her before replying calmly, "We broke up."
She didn't say anything else. Her words were straightforward and simple. But, Hailey didn't believe it was so simple.
She was about to question her when the waitress arrived with a tray in hand. She placed Hailey's orders on the table and left. Hailey returned her gaze to Ivy. She wanted to say something.
But instead, she reached out to hold Ivy's hand in hers.
"No matter what. I'll be by your side."
Ivy looked up at her. She didn't say anything. But, her eyes were misty. Hailey felt sad seeing her expression. But, she didn't ask her what happened. She knew her best friend well and knew she would eventually tell her at her own time.
Ivy nodded at her words and wiped the tears from her eyes. Then, she gave Hailey a slap in the shoulder.
She grinned, "What are you so serious about? Quickly tell me about your marriage life."
Hailey looked at her with a smile. But, she didn't expose her. Instead, she picked up her cutlery and cut out a small piece of steak before saying, "What's there to know about?"
But, Ivy was adamant.
"You didn't come out during those three years. And, you have the heart to deny me the gists?"
Hailey waved her hands in mock surrender when she saw her fierce expression. She began to recount the journey of three years to Ivy. She also told her about how Knox had given her a severance pay.
After she was done, she continued to eat while Ivy was comprehending what she had heard. After some time, she remarked,
"Not bad. Your contract husband is quite nice and has good manners. He knows to give a parting gift and not a measly amount either. You must have enjoyed in this past three years."
Hailey looked at her and rebutted, "You can go live alone for three years and see how it feels like."
Ivy immediately shook her head.
"I don't. I don't dare." She cheekily replied. "Only a cave woman like you is capable of that."
Hailey gave her a look full of amusement before she returned her attention to her food. She picked up the glass of wine and downed a sip.
Ivy looked her up and down. "Should I abduct and use you to sign another contract marriage with another billionaire?"
Her hand was on her chin and she seemed to be considering it quite seriously. "Hmm. That would make quite a lot of money."
Hailey was tickled but she made an angry face and held her fork in the air. "You know, I'm quite good at fighting."
Ivy instantly sat up. "I know. I know. I don't dare to sell your Highness for money."
Hailey shook her head auth fascination. But, after a moment, Ivy remarked again, "But, you don't even intend to fight me. You could have held the knife instead."
"IVY!!"
"Okay. Okay. I won't say anymore." Ivy quickly lowered her head but there was a small smile on her face.
The two looked at each other before laughing out loud.
