CHAPTER 19: SAY YES TO THE DRESS PART 2

Eva's POV

I raised my hand to knock on the door but it swung open before I even got a chance.

Gavin stood in front of me. Red faced and out of breath. When he saw me, he hugged me tightly.

"Thank God you're here!" He said to me.

"Why?" I asked

"Because my crazy mother decided to do some spring cleaning and She hasn't let us take a break yet" he said to me then yelled. "MOM! GABRIEL! EVA'S HERE!"

I heard pounding of feet on the stairs.

Gabriel rounded the corner and smiled bright when he saw me.

He was wearing red basketball shorts, a black v-neck, and a baseball cap backwards.

All in all, he was gorgeous.

"Hi" he said

"Hey" I said while blushing a little. He beamed and hugged me tightly. We heard gagging noises behind us and I immediately let go. Gabriel glared and growled at Gavin but he just grinned.

"Next time wait until I'm out of the room before you two start drooling over each other" he said and I blushed. Gabriel was going to punch him when we heard a 'thump'. Gavin groaned.

"Mom! What was that for!" Gavin whined. She smirked. Her blue eyes twinkling mischievously.

"Stop making fun of your brother and get back to work" she said and he groaned even more.

"This is child labor!" He exclaimed "I could report you to the police!"

"Go ahead, better yet let me call them for you. One less mouth to feed" she said while grabbing the home phone and dialing a number. Gavin's eyes widened and he snatched the phone out of her hand before kissing her cheek and hugging her. I laughed.

"I LOVE YOU MOMMY!" He screamed from the top of the stairs. Mrs. Green smirked.

"Works every time" she said and I giggled.

"Hi sweetie" she said and I smiled.

"Hi Jennifer"

"Eva, sweetie. Sit down. We should be done in a couple of minutes" she said and I shook my head.

"May I help?" I asked and she smiled.

"If you want. But I have to warn you, it'll be pretty dusty" she cautioned me.

"It's okay, I should be fine" I said to her. She smiled and them went up the stairs.

I turned around and came face to face with Gabriel. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my forehead. I blushed.

"How was shopping?" He asked.

"It was okay, Casey found her dress, shoes, and mask. I only found my mask" I said to him and he frowned. "All that time and you didn't find a dress?" He asked and I nodded.

"The dresses weren't really towards my liking"I paused. "But my mask is really pretty"

"Really? Can I see it?" He asked excitedly and I shook my head. "Awe why not?" He pouted and my heart melted.

"Because you gave Casey money to pay for me!" I hissed and he chuckled nervously.

"She told you?" He asked and I nodded my head. "Eva, sweetie, I'm sorry" he started to apologize but I cut him off with a bone crushing hug.

"Shut up you big idiot. Don't ever apologize for something like that again!" I said and he looked at me like I was crazy.

"Wait, you're not mad?" He asked and I shook my head.

"How could I be mad at you for being so sweet?" I asked and he blushed. I brought his head to mine and kissed his cheek before grabbing his hand and pulling him up the stairs. "Come on, let's go clean" I said and he groaned.

"You're not normal! Who gets excited over cleaning?" He asked and I laughed.

"Me! Now what are we cleaning?" I asked as soon as we were at the top of the stairs.

"The attic. My mom wanted to get rid of some old boxes" he said and I nodded my head. "Be careful climbing up. The stairs are old and shaky" I nodded my head.

I made it up the ladder without injuring or killing myself.

A new record.

I spotted Mrs. Green and Gavin sorting old boxes.

"Gabriel honey, help your brother move that old trunk towards the window. I want to see what's inside it" she asked and they complied. It was old and looked like it was from ancient times. We all made our way over to it and watched Mrs. Green try to open it. She frowned when she couldn't.

"Well that's odd. It won't open" she said. I gently nudged her aside.

"May I try?" I asked and she nodded her head.

Slowly I pressed down on the top of the trunk. It clicked and popped opened. I smiled and looked back at the Green's. All three of them had their mouths open.

"How'd you do that?" Mrs. Green asked and I smiled sadly at her.

"My dad used to own a furniture store. One day a man came in with a similar trunk and asked if my father could open it. He did and then taught me all of his neat tricks" I said, smiling at the happy memories. Every chance I got, I was always with my dad at work. We would sit around and pull pranks on each other all the time. It was one thing I missed about him.

"Used to?" She asked gently and I nodded my head.

"Yeah, my dad passed away a couple of months ago" I said quietly and turned my attention back to the trunk. I didn't want to see the pity in their eyes. "Anyways, let's get back to this box, shall we?" I asked and they nodded their heads simultaneously.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked into the cornered blue eyes of Gabriel.

"You okay?" He whispered and I nodded my head.

"Yeah I'm fine" I said and started taking out old clothes from the trunk. Gabriel dropped the subject and I gave him a grateful smile.

"Mom, what's this?" Gavin asked while holding up a letter and an old dusty box. Mrs. Green frowned and shook her head.

"I honestly don't know" she said and held her hand out for the letter. Gavin quickly gave it to her and she opened it.

She read the letter and smiled.

"Mom who is it from?" Gabriel asked and she handed him the letter.

"From your great-grandmother" was all she said. Gabriel frowned before reading the letter out loud.

Dear Family,

If you are reading this letter than it must mean that I am no longer with you. I wanted you to know that I love you with all my heart.

Anyways, inside this box, is something very special to me. I want my first great-granddaughter to have this. Yes Jennifer, I know that you are pregnant with my grandson's child. I have no idea why you hid it from us but, anyway, oh well.

Please make sure she gets this or else I will rise from the grave and HAUNT YOU ALL! Give my great-grand baby a kiss for me.

~Love Ilene~

Gabriel finished reading the letter and looked at his mother in confusion.

"Mom? What is this" he asked and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I honestly don't know son, it looks like your great-grandma has a gift for Evangeline" she said and my eyes opened wide in shock.

"What?" I asked in shocked. "But I'm not the first Great-Granddaughter" I said and she shook her head.

"Technically you are sweetie. Since Anthony was Ilene's grandson, that makes me her granddaughter by marriage. Since your Gabriel's mate and bonder and Gabriel was her first great-grandson, that makes you her first great-granddaughter"

"Huh?" I said stupidly and Gavin sighed in annoyance.

"Can we at least see what's in the box, before we start bickering back and forth, the suspense is killing me" he said and his mother rolled her eyes.

"Eva, since it's yours, you get to open it" she said and I nodded my head. With shaking hands, I gently opened the box and pulled back the crinkly tissue paper inside. As soon as I saw what was in the bag, I gasped. The Green's immediately surrounded around me and gasped too.

Inside was the most gorgeous blood red dress ever. I pulled it out of the box and my eyes popped opened. It had a heart shape neckline and I could tell it had a mermaid tale design. It was absolutely positively gorgeous.

"Jennifer I can't accept this" I said while gently putting back the dress in its box. I stood up and faced her. "I really can't accept something this beautiful"

"Sweetie, it's not up to you. Apparently Ilene knew about you way before Gabriel was born" she said.

"How can that be though?" Gabriel asked his mom "How'd she know about Eva if we weren't even born yet?" He asked and his mother sighed.

"I don't know honey. Your great-grandma kind of lost her marbles after your great-grandpa died. She would always say that she could tell the future but we all thought she went crazy because she lost her mate. The other half of her soul. Apparently she knew I was pregnant way before I did and she knew that Eva, was one day going to be your mate"

"That is freaky!" Gavin breathed and we all nodded our heads. Jennifer looked at me and smiled.

"Evangeline, I know that you don't want to accept the dress, but will you do this for us? For Gabriel's great-grandmother? Please sweetie, she went thorough all this trouble just to give this to you" she asked and both Gavin and Gabriel gave me puppy dog eyes. I giggled.

"Okay" I breathed out "I'll do it. I wouldn't want to have her rise from the grave and haunt you all" I said and everyone laughed.

"Great!" Mrs. Green squealed. "Now Eva, let's go make these bums some lunch" she said and dragged me down the attic stairs.

Gabriel's POV

I watched my mother and my mate climb down the stairs laughing together.

I smiled and went back to stacking the attic boxes.

Gavin helped me and we finished organizing everything just the way mom wanted it.

"So did you ask Eva to the ball yet?" Gavin asked me and I raised an eyebrow.

"Am I suppose too?" I said and his mouth popped open "I mean, she is my mate. I just assumed she wanted to go with me" I said and he punched my shoulder.

"Yes Stupid. She is your mate but no one else knows that!" He said and my eyes widened. He's right. Only my family and other werewolf's would know that she is mine. Humans wouldn't know that she's my mate because they don't know about Werewolf's and Curses. I rubbed my face in panic.

"What do I do?" I asked and he grinned evilly.

"Here's what we do" he said before dragging me down the stairs.

Eva's POV

Monday came quicker than I expected.

I was sitting at the lunch table talking to Casey and eating my salad when I noticed that Gabriel wasn't here. I started to get worried.

"Gavin where's your brother?" I asked and he shrugged.

"Which one?" He asked with a smirk and I rolled my eyes. "I have quite a few brothers"

"Oh you know, he has blonde hair, blue eyes, about yay high?" I said and he grinned. Suddenly the whole cafeteria got quiet and I felt everyone's eyes on me. I was about to turn around when something grabbed my hand.

I gasped and Casey squealed.

Garrett and Greyson stood in front of me with flowers and chocolate in each of their little hands. They were both wearing little tuxedo's and their hair was gelled back. I could tell they were smiling underneath their cute little wolf masks.

I could barely speak.

"Eva" Greyson said "GABY would really appreciate it if you went to the Ball with him" he asked me and they both gave me their flowers and chocolate. I put the gifts on the table and hugged the life out of the twins.

Tears streamed down my face and their little hands wiped them away.

"Why are you crying?" Garrett asked and I shook my head.

"It doesn't matter Sweetie, now where's your brother?" I asked and a hand wrapped around my waist.

"Looking for me?" He whispered in my ear before pulling me to my feet. I spun in his arms and gasped. He was dressed just like the twins. His blonde hair was gelled back in waves and he was wearing an expensive looking suit. The only thing he didn't have was a cute little wolf mask.

I swear, Every girl in the room swooned.

I looked into his bright blue eyes and he smiled.

"Will you go to the Ball with me? Please say yes my sweet, sweet mate" he whispered and I nodded my head.

"Yes" I whispered back. "A thousand times yes"
