Chapter 34
**Alyssia**
“Okay sweetheart, before Dr. Harper can finally see you, we first have to check you in” explains the nurse who stood before me.
“Check me in?”
“Yes. It’s all completely standard. You know like with your weight, height, blood pressure. You know, things like that. Dr. Harper will be the one to go into further detail of anything else she might find during your initial check.”
“Oh, Okay”
Then, as if satisfied with my response does the nurse move to continue with what she was doing. Always making sure to collect all of my information such as my height, my weight, my blood pressure, my heart rate and my pulse. Once finished with that, does the nurse move to hand me a cup.
“Um…” I ask in confusion.
“It’s to collect your pee sweetie. It’s to see if your pregnant right? It’s why you’re here to begin with correct?”
At the mention of pregnancy and baby do I move to nod my head. My hands now taking the cup. “Perfect. All you have to do is simply pee inside this cup and set it inside the small metal box. Someone will then come and collect it once your finished.”
Nodding again, I quickly move to do as told. Closing the bathroom door behind me as I move about my business. Quick at making sure I gave them just enough to test, before moving to close up the cup. My nerves still rising at what the doctor would say to me once the results had come in. The nurse then leading me over towards a room.
“Okay sweetie. Have a seat, Dr. Harper will be with you shortly.”
Unsure of what to say back I only move to nod my head once more. My feet now moving towards a chair within the room, a chair I now sit in as I move to wait for Dr. Harper to arrive.
15 minutes later…
I’m just about to check my phone for another 10th time when the sound of knocking reaches my ears. My eyes now shifting towards that of the door only for a voice to greet me upon entering.
“Knock, knock”
Feeling my nerves rise once again do my eyes finally take in the sight of Dr. Harper. A woman who stood 6 feet tall and had light blonde hair, green eyes and a toned athletic body. A clear sign that Dr. Harper took great care of her body.
“Good Morning Alyssia, how are you this morning? I haven’t seen you here in a while, I hope all is well with you” greets Dr. Harper as she moves to take a seat.
“I know, I’m sorry. Things have been crazy with school”
“It’s alright. Now… it looks like you’re here because you think you might be pregnant, is that correct?” asks Dr. Harper, her hands now quick to log into her computer as she moves to pull up my pee sample and all my other results from this morning, her eyes now skimming over my file.
“Yes, that is correct. I’m a little late with my period and quickly became concerned. I went to take a home pregnancy test a little while back and it came back positive, so I just wanted to double check to see if it was correct” I explain, my voice fast as I attempt to tell her what I knew.
Humming softly does my doctor continue to look through my file the silence killing me. “Well… based off what I’m seeing here within your charts you definitely are pregnant.”
At hearing the confirmation within her words does my heart suddenly race. My eyes wide as I move to give her my full undivided attention. “P.. Pregnant? Are you sure?”
“Sure am. And based on what I’m seeing here your about 6 weeks along too.”
“6… 6 weeks?”
“Yes. Based on your hormone levels and what’s listed within your chart, your about 6 weeks almost 7” explains Dr. Harper. Her eyes now on me as she moves to smile. “Congratulations.”
“Do…Do we know the gender of the child?” I ask, now curious about the baby.
“Unfortunately no. Not until you hit about 12 weeks or so. Which reminds me, are you taking any kind of vitamins or any kind of prenatal vitamin? Because if not, it’s important that you do if you want to have a healthy baby.”
Chewing on my bottom lip I knew that I wasn’t. Between school, grades, work, Brian and now Zac along with Principle Lane, I wasn’t able to take care of myself like I once had. Something I’m sure Zac would probably scold me for, if I told him.
Suddenly overwhelmed by all this newfound information does my heart begin to race again. My mind now racing at everything I now had to do. A part of me now wondering what my parents would say if they suddenly knew of what happened to me. An unlikely scenario considering they were trying to pawn me off on Principle Lane. Lyra’s father.
A shiver now running through me. Another thing that I needed to tell Zac about, whenever I had the chance, before things got way out of hand. Knowing that I needed to tell him before it all came back and bit me in the ass. Dr. Harper soon drawing my attention back towards her as she continued to speak.
“Alrighty sweetheart. Aside from the vitamins I want you to take things easy for a while. If you over work yourself like crazy you could lose the baby so no stressing if you can help it. At least not until your well into your second trimester” reminds Dr. Harper.
Another nod rising only for me to pause. A part of me now remembering the weekend and of all the crazy things I did with Zac within his bedroom apartment. The need to know if sex was even possible or if we would have to wait until the baby was born. Deciding now would be a good time to ask since I was there.
“Can… Can I still have sex?”
Blinking at my words, does Dr. Harper move to smile. “Of course you can sweetie. I mean, even though your pregnant and all, having sex won’t hurt you or the growing baby inside of you. In fact, having sex will become even better from all the raging hormones you have growing deep within you” admits Dr. Harper, a blush now rising at the mention of better sex.
“Thanks” I mutter, now trying to get my blush under control.
“Don’t mention it. Any whom, this is all I can do for you at the given moment. Make sure you schedule your next appointment for around 12 to 14 weeks. And remember, take those vitamins. And again, congratulations to you and the father, whoever he might be.”
“Thanks” is all I manage to say. My body now standing as I move to head back towards the receptionist. A tiny piece of me wondering if Zac would come with me the next time around in order for us to know the gender. With that in thought, I move to do as I’m told. My body now standing back in front of the reception desk. Ms. Elsie still sitting there even as our eyes move to meet.
“Oh, hello again. Are you all done now?”
“Yes”
“Perfect. Just let me get you all checked out and your all set to go. Also, it looks like she wants to see you between 12 and 14 weeks, did you want to go ahead and schedule that?”
“Yes, please”
“Absolutely. Let me get my calendar pulled up and we will get you all booked.”
“Thanks”
Then, offering her my best smile do I go about scheduling my next appointment. My body still overwhelmed at knowing I was indeed pregnant, and the child was Zac’s.
*Wow…* I mentally think the moment I exit the building. *I can’t believe I’m really pregnant. That Zac and I are going to be parents. That’s… That’s crazy.* A true smile now resting along my lips as I officially move to leave the clinic. Now on a mission to find the best vitamins that I could. One that would help me and my growing child who laid dormant within me.
