Aileen was stunned, both embarrassed by Geoffrey's words and awakened by them. Despite being married for so long, they hadn't truly become husband and wife.
Blushing, she lightly patted his broad chest. "Not now, it's not the right time."
He stopped, his gaze shifting to her flushed cheeks and pink ears. Taking a deep breath, he released her. Feeling relieved, Aileen stood up without looking back and hurriedly ran upstairs.
Upon receiving another text message from Tengyao Company, Aileen no longer felt the initial joy.
Having a lot of free time these days, she wanted to go to the hospital to get a checkup. Geoffrey was strict with her but remained silent about her condition. However, she could sense the changes in her body.
Seizing the opportunity when he was at work, Aileen called a car to go to the nearest hospital. Since their residence was quite far from the city center, the journey would take at least 30 minutes.
While in the car, her phone vibrated with an unfamiliar number.
Aileen hesitated. Her social circle was simple, with only her aunt and cousin. Normally, she only contacted Geoffrey.
But her aunt and cousin were in the UK, and the displayed number was from the United States; it couldn't be them.
During her hesitation, the phone stopped vibrating.
However, the next second, the call came again.
Aileen, curious, answered with a green key press. "Hello?"
...
There was no response on the other end, so she said "Hello" again.
Still, silence followed. Aileen considered hanging up the call.
"Aileen... it's me, Cary."
Aileen was taken aback. Why would Cary call her? Then she realized he might have found her contact information from her resume.
Through the phone, she heard a faint breath. Cary opened his mouth to say something but then closed it again, not knowing how to express himself.
"I heard from HR that you declined the job offer... was it because of me?"
...
No one replied. Cary answered his own question, his voice carrying deep regret. Aileen remained unmoved, even feeling a hint of coldness.
"Did you call just to say this?"
Seeing that she finally responded, Cary's spirits lifted. "Could you reconsider? I mean..."
"Cary," Aileen interrupted him, "I won't work at your company."
With that said, she hung up the phone.
The mechanical voice "beep" cut off thousands of words on the other end of the phone. Cary's fingers holding the phone tightened, and his eyes were filled with disappointment.

"This deal succeeded all thanks to Mr. Geoffrey. Come, let's toast to him!"
The middle-aged man in a grayish-brown suit was extremely excited. He raised his glass and gulped down the wine, causing the excess flesh on his thick neck to squeeze together.
Geoffrey casually looked at him, not responding, and the glass of wine on the table remained untouched.
Pete was not offended and flattered, "Mr. Nathan stepping down and me, Mr. Pan, being able to take over all the affairs of the business association so quickly, is all thanks to your guidance. You're like my new parents!"
After saying that, he turned his head and loudly shouted, "What are you standing around for? Move quickly!"
After the private room, the group of girls were so frightened that they dared not utter a word. Eagerly and anxiously, they approached and, from the moment they entered the room, their gazes remained fixed on the cold and stern man across from them.
Appearing to be around 20 years old, each of the girls had exquisitely delicate features. Some had a charming and graceful allure, while others had a delicate and pure charm. Every one of them could be called a beauty, and it was evident that the person who selected them had a discerning eye.
Pete's naked gaze roamed over the girls, but eventually, he restrained himself and grinned, "These are gifts I prepared for Mr. Geoffrey. I just didn't know what type you prefer, so I brought them all."
He emphasized, "They are all young."
Geoffrey picked up the teacup from the table, seeming indifferent, and drank his tea.
"I have a wife."
Pete's expression changed, and he quickly echoed, "Oh, how foolish of me! I completely forgot that Mr. Geoffrey is already married. My apologies!"
Then, he loudly scolded the girls, "Why are you still here? Get out!"
Once everyone had left, he put on a fawning smile again, "I wonder who your wife is? The woman who captured Mr. Geoffrey's heart must be an unparalleled beauty, right?"
Geoffrey's hand, playing with the teacup, paused, and his blue pupils suddenly chilled. His gaze fell on Pete like a sharp knife, frightening him from probing further.
"Hehe, Mr.Geoffrey has a reputation for having an eye for women in the business world. The female celebrities he introduced to me before were all stunning. But...," Pete touched his nose, "that female anchor yesterday was undoubtedly beautiful, but her temper was as hot as her figure. Just look at my right cheek; I got slapped several times this morning."
Hearing this, Geoffrey glanced at Pete, his face filled with a cold smile, making Pete shiver in fear.
"The spicier, the more I like it, Mr. Pete, don't you agree?"
Feeling relieved that Geoffrey finally acknowledged him, Pete.
