22. A SURPRISE GUEST.

-

She struggled to get her umbrella through the door, and only after a while did she get it through. “Here” Someone offered from behind, taking it from hands.

Amelia turned around to see the blonde young man next to her. “Thanks” She muttered, beneath the glass chandelier above her. “I haven’t seen you around” He replied, with a suit case in his hands as well.

“I could say the same” Her eyes went back to him, her ears soaking the music from the walls. “You’re probably right” He chuckled slightly as he walked to the counter. “I only just got here” He stuck his hands into his hair and Amelia smirked.

“Me too”

“Welcome to Vienna, i must say” She felt obliged to say, just as Damien pulled up a few steps below them. He looked to Liv, who glossed her lips. “You missed an opportunity to wear your fancy gown” He whispered as she looked down at her dress.

“I could always wear it at Raznak’s party on Saturday” She threw him a look but just before he was about to step out, his phone rang in his pockets and they looked to each other.

“Your name?”

The woman behind the counter looked up to Amelia and she hefted out a card. “Here” She showed. “Amelia Jacobson” She whispered as the woman scanned her card, before looking back at her. “We don’t allow press inside” The lady flatly said.

And Amelia scoffed. “I’m not—I’m not press” She stuttered and the man next to her showed up again. “Actually—“ He struck his hand around her waist and Amelia budged slightly.

“She’s with me.”

“Amanda” Damien held the phone to his ears. “What is it?” His hands slowly pulled away from the door. “Raznak is on his way out” She broke the news and an arch suddenly invaded his brows. “What is it?” Olivia asked with concern in her eyes.

“But don’t worry, i was able to get a word with him. He agreed a meeting during the week, a few days before his party. He’d love to meet with you and your stunning wife” She looked out of the gala window, in a shiny red dress and Raznak by her side. Flashing a smile at him, she muttered. “Don’t ever pull the stunt you pulled today on me again” She said through her teeth before hanging up. And Damien let the phone down—

“What is it?”

“No meeting” He cleared his throat. “At least not today” He turned to loose at Liv in that dress, and god, was she temptous. She was like a goddess in any color. “How about we go back and have a drink, together?” Damien whispered.

And she was restive in that chair. “What?” Her stomach burst with emotion as he sealed their eye contact. “It’ll be fun” He added. “I thought you don’t like me drinking” She whispered, holding her hands firm on her knees and he chuckled.

“You’re with me.”

“You’re safe.” He muttered. “Unless, you’re scared you won’t be able to handle being drunk with me?” He had a slight pitch in his voice and Liv rolled her eyes to the back of her head.

“Is that a dare?” She looked into his dark eyes. “For a truth?”

Amelia slipped her hands through the man’s, next to her. And immediately they walked through the door, her eyes were set on the car that drove out. It was just like his—

—she would know. She would know him everywhere, Damien.

But right now, there was another man next to her, whose hair was nicer than his, slipped over his ears. There was a slight resemblance but she shrugged it off.

“Amelia, huh?” His voice was deep, and she turned her gaze to his eyes. “And you are?” She whispered. Bridging the gap between them, his lips brushed against her ears. “Luke” He whispered back, and before she could piece where she’d heard that name before, he added— “Luke Archer.”

And her jaw immediately dropped. Of course it was him.

“And you must know my brother.” His gaze was fixed on her, just as a smirk crept to his lips. “You must lead me to him—“
