Chapter 19 North Guests

**Valerie**

Though it’s perfectly reasonable for Mr. Drakos to regard my behavior as a lubricity from a rapacious slave, and I had understood very well that there’s no right or need for me to explain. I still got a strong compulsion of sounding off and clearing for myself, caused by my useless ego.

But it would be more ridiculous if I did so, because I had the grievance against myself that I had absurdly behaved like a whore in front of that Alpha. I couldn’t really forget how tightly his body pressing against mine, the burning heat of that huge aroused maleness and a heavy scent of musk and woods easily intriguing my sexual desire. It felt like my treacherous body had taken the control of my brain and forced it to react lasciviously to his lure.

The feelings were still vividly clear when I had got back to the castle. Fortunately, the strenuous work offered me a best distraction, enabling me to retrieve calmness and tranquility in my heart through perspiration and soreness.

After tidying up the room for guests, I was designated to assist with the decoration of great hall. It’s until the midnight when everything was ready for tomorrow’s event that I was finally allowed to take some rests.

I had actually come up with Mr. Lang and Mr. Drakos while working in the lobby, but their gazes hadn’t been placed on me for more than a few seconds. They seemed to be in a hurry walking downstairs from the Alpha’s study before exiting the front door, with rather severe countenances on their faces as if something emergent had just occurred.

Servants for the celebration had to be on standby before the sunrise so I wasn’t given enough time to take a proper sleep in bed. Finding a corner for myself, I crouched down to the floor, wrapping arms around my shins and burying my head at the space between my chest and thighs. I closed my eyes and leant against the wall before letting out a heavy sigh.

Despite being extremely exhausted and fatigued, I couldn’t fall asleep.

I was confused and annoyed. I didn’t quite understand why they couldn’t leave me alone, the masters. It’s preposterous that they would take any interest in a plain human slave like me.

Did they really enjoy teasing me and fooling me like this?

Firstly, the Alpha, who pretended to be kind and considerate, not forcing on me after the auction, unaccountably decided to exert his right today. Then, the aristocracy vampire, who inscrutably declared to claim me as his, played a role of someone’s Romeo and made me like an idiot. At last, the mysterious third master, Mr. Drakos, made a conclusive commentary that I was the shameless slut who insatiably longed for entangling with all of them

What. The. Fuck. Wasn’t it better if they just torture me in a more direct way?

I drifted off into sleep while my mind was crammed up with all those grumbles.

“Valerie…Valerie…” I rubbed my eyes and yawned when a voice called nearside.

Opening my eyes, I found it was Benjamin who was squatting down next to me with a worried look.

“I’m sorry but you need to get dressed, Valerie. Mrs. Manson will soon be here for the instructions.” He seemed regret to inform me this.

“Thanks Ben.”

I inhaled deeply before forcing a smile to him and getting up. My face twitched as I felt a great muscle soreness spreading over my body.

Benjamin told me that Mrs. Manson had prepared two suits of new uniforms for each selected slave to serve through the celebration. Just like what Samantha had anticipated, the new uniforms were made of cloths in high qualities and the size fitted us better.

“You look nice!” Benjamin exclaimed when I got dressed up and stepped out of the pantry.

I grinned to him and thanked him bashfully before we joined the rest of servants, waiting in lines to Mrs. Manson’s speech.

After around a quarter of an hour, Mrs. Manson came downstairs and walked to us in her new attire proudly with her jaw raised. She cleared her throat before uttering in a weirdly formal tone.

“As you all have been acknowledged, today is the big day. We’ve been given the glory to serve our noble masters and guests tonight for the annual celebration. All of you must be ready to provide our best services in perfect professionalism today, though as you might knew,” she paused and shot a glance at us, Benjamin, Clair and I, who stood close to each other in the same row.

She continued, “That we’ve got three slaves here to supplement the shortage of decent servants. But as I said, the standard of our service shall never drop off due to any reasons.” Her voice became fierce as she glared at me in particular before finishing the last sentence, “And I won’t bear with any inconsiderate mistakes done by any of you!”

“Now, get in lines on both side of the front door. We shall wait until the arrival of our North guests.” She commanded severely.

We stood there for nearly three hours until a limo stopped outside the front gate, during which, we were neither allowed to rest nor to drink. It was only in a very short absence of Mrs. Manson, we got an opportunity to gossip something about the North guests.

The North guests, as Benjamin and Clair had been told on the training courses, was mainly the Alpha and his daughter of a North werewolf pack called The Eclipse. The reason they came here across such a far distance was not only for the celebration, but also for a proposed engagement between the Alpha of The Red Moon, Xavier Murphy, and the Alpha’s daughter of The Eclipse, Alyssa Woodland, to create a strong alliance of two most powerful packs.

There were a few rumors around this arrangement. Some said that The Eclipse was on the edge of a military coup and they were looking for an umbrella. Some thought there was oddities with the North Princess that she didn’t want to take the throne as a female Alpha. And some believed The Red Moon were orchestrate an attack with The Eclipse to defeat vampire royalties on the path of global domination.

“The tide was going to change if they get married.” Benjamin sighed while looking around cautiously in case that Mrs. Manson appear suddenly from nowhere

“True.” Clair nodded thoughtfully, “If the Red Moon and The Eclipse were allied by the marriage, Alpha Xavier would be the most powerful ruler in the world.”

“That’s perhaps a good thing…” Benjamin said with a lowered voice, “I mean, Alpha Xavier is relatively nice and more prone to ‘soft policy’, compared with his father. His father was brutal.”

“True.” Clair brushed her fingers over her chin and shrugged, “but who knows? The tides and trends always change out of our expectations.”

I couldn’t really understand what they were discussing about but apparently, the celebration was not simply a celebration. And there’s something concerned me now because they all mentioned the former Alpha, Caser Murphy, not only by Samantha and Benjamin, but also Xavier Murphy and Mr. Drakos. All of them had indicated how scary and ruthless he was, more or less.

If I had been sensitive enough, I would have realized that Caser Murphy could also be the Alpha brother whom Mrs. Johnson had talked about, since the Red Moon had long been the most powerful pack in the region.

Is it possible? I didn’t dare to contemplate.

When the guests came out of that limbo and walked up to enter the castle, I managed to steal a glance at the Alpha and his daughter. The Alpha was very sturdy despite being elderly. His face was steady and heavy. There’re several deep scars on his forehead, making him looked more severe and intimidate.

His daughter who followed behind in a slower pace kept her head down, staring at her feet as if being preoccupied with something on the ground. She looked feeble and delicate, with a beautiful face but moody countenance. She took someone’s arm tightly as if being likely to falling down without the support.

And the one walking on her right side that she leant towards, to my astonishment, was Xavier Murphy. Our eyes met shortly before I hastily bowed my head and greeted with the other servants.

I missed a slight twitch on his face and the long deep stare when he eyed me.
