Chapter 25

Kade didn't want to leave.

He had been watching Thalia sleep for nearly an hour now, her body curled into his like a perfect fit. Her dark hair was splayed over her naked shoulder and the pillow while thick lashes cuddled her cheeks. She was heavenly like a goddess and Kade couldn’t work out how this beautiful being was fated to him of all creatures.

The night before was still fresh in Kade's mind even after managing to get a few hours of sleep. Thalia was still mark free and a virgin but that hadn't stopped them from exploring each other more. The moment Thalia explained she was still a virgin, Kade had decided that she deserved her first time to be somewhere better than a static caravan in the Yorkshire dales. Kade wasn't good at getting things right but this he was determined to get right. Thalia deserved it and everything else that came with courting a mate.

Thalia's eyes fluttered open just then, her espresso coloured orbs focusing on Kade slowly as her light red lips parted slightly.

"Good morning." Kade murmured, watching his mate intently.

"Morning." Thalia whispered. "I've not slept like that in a long time."

Kade chuckled at this. "Well we were at it for a long time. I'm surprised you're even awake."

Thalia's cheeks reddened as memories of the night before came to mind.

"I need to leave again." Kade finally admitted. "Things have taken a bad turn and I've been called back. It'll be for a few days."

Thalia felt her disappointment like a punch to the chest but quashed it down. She had no right to be selfish. Kade's pack needed him and she was safe here for now. There really was very little either of them could do anyway.

"I've got a phone coming for you. It's nothing fancy but you can use it to let me know if you need something." Kade explained. "I'll be back before you know it."

Thalia managed a smile, sighing as Kade leaned in to kiss her, a tingling sensation spreading across her skin. She was in no rush to let Kade go just yet and it seemed Kade was in no rush to leave either. A soft moan escaped her as Kade's tongue made its way into her mouth, rubbing against her own tongue that eagerly awaited, savouring the taste of her mate. Kade pressed her onto her back, hovering over her as they continued to kiss.

Another moan escaped Thalia before she could stop it when Kade's hand slipped across her skin to cup her breast (her underwear had been discarded hours ago). His skin was hot and slightly calloused, producing wonderful friction as he massaged the supple skin. But it was his thumb and forefinger catching Thalia's nipple and pinching it teasingly that had Thalia a gasping mess underneath the male. Her back arched, pushing herself into those digits further, her abdomen clenching slightly when Kade rolled the pink bud.

"Aren't you going to be late?" Thalia panted when Kade finally broke the kiss, her heart hammering in her chest as her mate kissed over her neck and down to her eagerly awaiting tits. "Billy?"

"I have time." Kade murmured and Thalia could hear the smirk tugging at his lips as he buried his face between Thalia's now bare breasts.

The low growl of delight that left Kade sent shivers down Thalia's spine into her core where it pooled like liquid heat. The air became heavy with the scent of her arousal which only served to encourage Kade on, his eyes flicking up to meet Thalia's as he sucked and toyed with one of her nipples with his tongue. Her normally warm dark eyes were now yellow like the petals of a sunflower, her wolf pushing forward within her. It was enough to encourage Legion to push to the surface, his black eyes meeting the brilliant yellow orbs of his mate. It was a brief interaction but one full of intimacy and acceptance before both wolven souls settled back letting their humans take full control.

Before Thalia could begin to work out what had happened, Kade was leaving opening mouthed kisses over her stomach which was now slightly rounded from the life growing within it. It didn't seem to put the beta male off as he carried on his way, his intent clear as he moved lower.

Thalia bit her bottom lip, watching her mate's face disappear between her legs. The first time he did this (just hours ago) Thalia had been torn between so many emotions, one being guilt when she remembered Dante doing something very similar. She had kept it to herself though, especially when what she experienced with Kade was infinitely more intense.

This time was no different either. The moment the hot wetness of Kade's tongue rubbed up against her clit, she felt intense pleasure humming through her, a breathy moan escaping from her instantly. Kade didn't relent either, his mouth sucking on the bundle of nerves. She felt his fingers coaxing and prodding at her entrance before one digit slipped in, massaging her walls that were slick with her arousal.

"Ah, fuck! Billy!" The dark haired female cried out when a second finger joined the first, finding that spot inside of her that had her almost screaming in pleasure.

The assault by both Kade's deft fingers and greedy mouth was just all too much for Thalia's body, which hadn't fully recovered from Kade's previous feasting. He had already made her come several times in the night before they had both collapsed in exhaustion and yet Kade wasn't done with her yet, pushing her towards another soul-shattering climax without mercy.

And it hit quickly like a freight train, unravelling Thalia completely. As the pleasure exploded within her core and crashed over her, the she-wolf dug her fingers into her lover's hair, pressing her hips towards his mouth further, riding the waves storming through her.

"Oh goddess!" She cried out breathlessly, giving every drop of herself to Kade's eagerly awaiting tongue.

Kade lapped up all Thalia had to offer, a soft growl of approval rumbling into his chest as her sweet nectar poured onto his tongue. He could do this a million times and would never tire of it, of that he was certain.

Once he was certain Thalia was spent, Kade moved back up her body, placing kisses over her skin as he went until their mouths connected once more breathlessly. He couldn't help but smile as Thalia trembled under him, her cheeks rosy and her skin glowing from the light sheen of perspiration on it. She was beautiful. A vision and one Kade still couldn't believe was his mate.

"Just wanted to make sure that you were thoroughly satisfied before I left." Kade murmured, a cheeky shine coming to his eyes.

"Oh, consider me satisfied." Thalia smiled up at her mate, cupping his cheek tenderly. "I'll be here when you get back."

"But I will be back as soon as I can." Kade replied. "And we will figure out what to do next."

Leaving proved excruciatingly difficult this time even if the last few times hadn't exactly been easy. Maybe it was because they were both now accepting the mate bond in some way or because they had finally opened up a little to each other. Either way, Kade wanted to get this trip over with and hopefully put an end to the nightmare tormenting his pack. The sooner he did that then the sooner he could bring Thalia in knowing she would be safer with the Hellhounds around her. At the moment, they had the benefit of this Dante guy not knowing whether Thalia was alive or where she was and Kade wanted to keep it that way for as long as possible.

That’s what Kade kept in mind as he left the small caravan and began the journey back to the pack house. He hadn’t told Thalia what was going on because he hadn’t yet fully processed the news himself. When Daniel had told him about the murders in the infirmary, Kade had thought it had been a mistake. Then the realisation had settled in like a heavy weight. Someone had managed to bypass their security and kill two innocent, defenceless people. They weren’t safe any longer and that didn’t sit well for someone like Kade.

So he was on his way to the pack house to provide an update of his own but also find out what had exactly happened while he was gone. He also knew he had to stick around for a few days but already had it figured out how he was going to get back to Thalia. Daniel didn’t need to know the witch in question was out of the picture, at least not yet. He’d come clean about everything when this was all over.

Just before he hit the inner border, Kade pulled over to a small roadside cafe he often stopped by when he was travelling. The food was awful but the coffee was strong and the ladies who ran it weren’t shy with the whiskey they laced Kade’s coffee with. He felt he needed that cup of coffee right now to prepare for what was to come. The cafe had been set up in an old cottage with whitewash walls and a roof of slate tiles. It had once been a thatched roof but after the third time the roof caught fire, someone finally stuck something a bit less combustible on it. Since then it had served truckers and weary drivers as a place to stop and find some refreshments.

Much to Kade's relief, it was all but empty when he stepped into the cafe and took a seat at one of the small tables near the back. He didn't have to say anything except a thank you to the waitress who brought over his coffee.

He had been going through his messages on his phone that he barely noticed the bell above the door ring as someone stepped in. Thalia's phone had been delivered so he hoped to hear from her soon but otherwise things seemed quiet again.

That all changed when someone took the seat at the next table.

"Lieutenant William Kade," The man spoke up, his voice taunting but curious all at the same time. "I've been looking for you."

Kade looked up slowly, steel eyes taking in the black eyes and equally black hair. He looked out of place in his Savile Row tailored suit and designer shoes; however, something about him instantly had Legion's hackles up. He wasn't human nor was he a shifter. In fact he wasn't anything like the creatures Kade had met in the past and he had met plenty.

"Do I know you?" Kade growled.

"No." The man chuckled but his eyes were still icy dark. "But allow me to introduce myself. I'm Lucien Connaught and I'm looking for your mate."
