Chapter 12 Almost Kissed

Regina’s POV
“You—You stupid bitch!” Nigel gasped besides my ear.
He seemed horrified when Gray turned his gaze towards us and was now trying to drag me behind his back to stop people from staring.
My sculp hurt so much and I couldn’t help but cried out again:
“Gray…Help me!”
A series of urgent footsteps came behind my back. And a pair of large hands rescued me from Nigel’s iron grip.
“Alpha Gray—” I heard Nigel stammered in panic. But Gray lifted a foot before he could finish and kicked harshly on Nigel’s chest!
Nigel was sent flying backwards and landed directly on that champagne tower. The tower crushed, glasses broke, and wine spilled, making a series of huge noises that echoed across the room. People screamed and run in horror while turning their heads around to see what had happened.
Nigel was rolling around on a floor of broken glasses, holding his bleeding arm and shoulder while screaming like a pig getting slaughtered. Blood streamed down his face. And I felt my legs turned soft.
A large hand grabbed my elbow and helped me gaining my balance.
Still breathing heavily, I looked up and met with a furious, emerald-green eyes.
“Are you alright?” Gray asked me with a deep voice. His eyes were turning darker, and I could tell there was a storm looming on the horizon.
“I am alright,” I nodded nervously.
Guards had rushed over and pulled Nigel up and dragged him towards us. Nigel’s face was smudged by blood. I could see that he wanted to cry out in rage but he winced away when he saw Gray next to me.
“A—Alpha Gray. Next to meet you…” Nigel crawled on the floor and looked up at us with a flattering smile on his face, “Is there some sort of misunderstandings between us? I am Shadow Valley’s ambassador. I am an invited guest.”
He was kicked on the chest by Gray. But he was still trying to kiss Gray’s ass.
I looked down at Nigel’s dirty, twisted face and felt an awful feeling at heart.
Nigel noticed my gaze and he immediately called out to me, “Regina! What are you doing by Alpha Gray’s side? Come over here, quickly! Don’t disrespect him!”
He seemed like that he wanted to crawl over and drag me away from Gray himself. But he feared Gray’s alpha aura too much.
Gray’s hold on my waist tightened. And he turned around to look down at Nigel for the first time. The look on his face was full of cold and disgust as though he as now looking at a filthy piece of junk.
And he spoke up with an icy voice:
“You dared to yell at Regina in front of me?”
Nigel quivered under his intimidating gaze. A guard kicked on Nigel’s back and almost knocked him over.
“This is Princess Regina you are talking to!” the guard snapped at Nigel, “Show your respect in front of them!”
Nigel widened his eyes.
And his lips trembled. His breathing fastened.
“P—Princess?” he murmured in disbelief, “No…it can’t be…how’s this possible…”
The hotel manager was by our side the entire time. He stepped out at this moment and pointed a finger at Nigel, crying loudly, “I told you this is our princess! And I asked you to show your respect. But you wouldn’t listen! Alpha, this man should be punished, severely!”
“Princess…” Nigel was still murmuring with his eyes on me, “Regina…you are a princess…”
I felt uneasy to have him staring at me like that.
Letting out a small sigh, I said with a strained voice, “Yes, sorry that I lied to you and kept my identity from you for ages…Do you blame me?”
“Blame you? No…No! Of course not!”
Nigel suddenly snaped his head up and there was a zealous look in his eyes. He beamed while crawling forward on his fours as though he just found the most precious treasure on earth.
“Regina! Oh my beloved wife!” he cried out loudly, “You should have told me! Why didn’t you tell me? But it’s fine because you are the princess of Ever Moon! I am the princess’s husband! I love you Regina—I know you are special!”
“Are you kidding me?” the hotel manager yelled, “You were abusing the princess just a moment ago! How dare you say that you love her now?”
“SHUT UP!”
Nigel hissed at the manager with a crazy look and spat at him. “You don’t even know us. You don’t know what Regina and I have been through! We love each other deeply…We just had a little quarrel and that’s all!”
Then he turned to Gray and begged, “Please, Alpha Gray—my dear brother-in-law! Let me take Regina to Shadow Valley and I swear to be good to her!”
Gray’s jaw tightened. I could feel that Gray was on the verge of going into rage.
Receiving no response from Gray’s end, Nigel tilted his body facing me and begged, “Regina, my babe, I said I was sorry, didn’t I? Everything between me and Angel was a misunderstanding. You are a million times more important than her! I swear! So just come back to my side, please!”
I didn’t need him to bag me.
I wanted us to talk things out. And I needed to know that he was really sorry about what he had done.
“Nigel, get on your feet first.” I whispered, “then we’ll talk.”
“Just promise me you will come back home!” he threatened.
“No, I can’t…We need to talk first!”
“What’s there to talk about? You are my wife for god’s sake!”
Nigel straightened his back and reached out to grab my ankle. And before he could even reach me, Gray lifted a leg and stomped harshly on Nigel’s hand!
“Ahh—!”
Nigel let out a horrified scream and struggled.
But Gray grabbed his head and forced him to stay in place while increasing the pressure on Nigel’s hand.
He stomped so hard. I could almost hear the sound of Nigel’s bones becoming crumbles under Gray’s feet. And Nigel’s scream was becoming unbearable for me to hear.
“Keep your filthy hand away from her!” Gray roared in rage.
“Gray…”
I wanted to say something to stop him. But the look on Gray’s face made me scare as well.
“You are in Ever Moon Pack, you scumbag. And you dare to hurt my sister in front of me?!” Gray tightened his grip on Nigel’s sculp. I had no doubt that he could crush that sculp easily, “I had tolerated you for too long. I am sending you straight to hell you filthy shit!”
Nigel’s scream drew higher abruptly. His face was covered in tears and running nose and twisted in horror. He seemed nothing like the handsome Nigel I used to know.
“P—Please Alpha Gray…I didn’t—didn’t know she’s your sister!” Nigel shrieked desperately, “Just give me a chance—I will cherish her! I swear! PLEASE—”
“You dare to ask another chance from me?!” Gray growled deeply, “Regina is the princess of Ever Moon Pack! My sister! She chose you among all admires and yet this is how you treated her! NO. You are dying, TODAY!”
“No Gray—Wait!”
I rushed forward and grabbed Gray by his arm before he ended Nigel’s life.
“Are you crazy?” I whispered in his ear hurriedly, “Everyone is staring. And we have guests from other packs here today.”
I could see the horrified looks on almost every guest in this hall room. They were all staring at us and were taken aback by this drama.
If Gray killed Nigel right here in front of everyone, what would they say? Would they think that Gray was a ruthless monster?
Gray turned to look at me and he snorted, “You think I care about what these people think?”
“You should care. You are the alpha! You represent Ever Moon now!” I emphasis, “And Nigel came here as the ambassador from Shadow Valley. Are you trying to start a war?!”
A vein twitched on Gray’s forehead.
Just when I thought I had called some rationality back to him, he sneered, “Regina, I will burn down this entire world if necessary.”
I could tell that he meant business.
“…Gray, let him go,” I insisted.
Gray casted a sullen look at me and finally released Nigel, who fell on the floor shivering like a scared animal.
“Lock me up in the dungeon with Gavin.” He gritted icily.
Guards moved to capture Nigel when Gray grabbed me by my hand. He dragged me with me and started to head towards the door, traveling across a room full of astonished guests.
I could see shock on everyone’s face as I walk by. God knows what they will say about the incident tonight.
But Gray ignored them all. He marched out of the hotel lobby in hurried long steps.
I staggered behind him. He moved so fast that I couldn’t keep up.
“Gray!” I cried, “Slow down! Where are you—Ahh!”
I gasped when Gray spooned me up carrying me in his arms in princess style and continued to stride forward.
I was shocked. Was he crazy now?
“What are you doing? Where are you taking me?” I hit his firm chest and snapped angrily, “Put me down!”
Yet he simply gave me an icy look, “I’m taking you back to the castle, obviously. It was a terrible idea to let you meet with Nigel in the first place.”
“What? No…Gray! Put me down! NOW!”
I struggled, waving my hands and kicking my legs violently. Finally I managed to break free from him and got back on my own feet. I pulled on my dress and looked up glaring at him.
“You are making my decision again, Gray!” I snaped at him, “And what the hell was the crazy speech? Do you want people to call you a tyrant? Do you want the Alpha from Shadow Valley to come and attack us? Ever Moon has stayed in peace for many years. I don’t want that peace to disappear because of me!”
Gray stood in front of me like a giant tower. His large figure posed a huge shadow on my body. He suddenly raised a hand to cup my face and raised my face slightly.
Then he lowered his body to meet with my eye-level and spoke up with a husky voice, “You acted like you were only looking out for me, for this pack. But is that the real reason you didn’t want me to kill Nigel? Regina, tell me. After all those things he had done to you…do you still have a feeling for him?”
I froze on my spot.
My mind was a blank.
And that was no because of what he has asked me, but because of him.
Gray was so close to me. We hadn’t been this close since childhood. And I could smell his intoxicating scent, which made my heartrate quicken and my mouth turn dry.
My mind couldn’t process any information. And all I could think about was one thing:
…Did Gray use to smell this good when we were child?
I stared absently into his gorgeous green eyes. And gradually, I could feel the atmosphere changed between us. And his eyes became darker.
“…What are you looking at?” he asked with a husky, low voice.
I gulped and panicked, “N—Nothing…”
But I was looking at him, his perfectly shaped mouth.
God, was I crazy? He was my brother!
I heard Gray’s breathing became even faster. Then he leant even closer to me. His large hand had traveled from my cheek back to my neck, holding me and pulling me closer to him.
My heart is thumping like crazy in my chest.
I might be crazy but…I thought Gray was about to kiss me!
Our nose tips were touching, and our lips are only an inch away when—
“What are you doing?” a voice came behind Gray’s back.
I jerked up and looked beyond Gray’s shoulder.
And found Lady Connie staring at us in shock a few steps away.
