Chapter 23 Knock Her Up
Regina’s POV
I had never met with Shadow Valley’s Alpha before.
All I knew about this man was that he was an extraordinary pack leader. Under his reign, Shadow Valley pack grew rapidly in the past few years. Although it was still not as strong as Ever Moon Pack, it still got some worldwide recognition.
As Hover and Nigel escorted me into the manor, I kept wondering why Shadow Valley’s Alpha wanted to meet me this urgently. He summoned me as soon as I arrived, as though he couldn’t wait for another night.
Maybe he wanted to trade me for something.
He would probably ask Grey to cede Ever Moon’s territory to Shadow Valley in exchange for me.
If that was the case, I would rather he just killed me right now. I couldn’t bear with that kind of humiliation as Ever Moon’s princess.
The room they brought me into was large and brightly lit, with a long table in the middle. This seemed like a dining hall.
I took my seat by the table while waiting for the Alpha to show up. The wait was painful. Because I had absolutely no idea about what would happen next.
I was so anxious that my nervous tic came back again, and I started to bite my thumb nail.
After what felt like an eternity, the dining hall’s door flew open abruptly. I jumped from my seat and turned around, preparing myself for the Shadow Valley’s famed Alpha.
Yet the person who just burst into the dining hall was not him.
It was a woman.
And I had met her a few times before. While she was sneaking around with Nigel and hunting me down like I was a rat.
Miss Angel.
I quickly stepped back and eyed her warily. The last time I saw this woman, she wanted me died. And she probably still did.
I couldn’t help but wondering that if this was a trap set by Miss Angel to have me killed in her manor.
“You bitch!” she shrieked, her eyes glaring with anger. “How dare you to show up in my house! Who brought you here!”
I blinked perplexedly.
It sounded that she didn’t know that I was coming.
Then I noticed that she was still dressed in her pajamas. It seemed that she had just heard about the news and rushed down here in a hurry.
“Nigel!” Miss Angel directed her gaze at Nigel and snapped, “Did you bring her here? You said it yourself that you would kill her right away the next time you see her! And then you would marry me! Why is she still alive and standing on my property?!”
Nigel let out a nervous laugh. He was standing at the far end of the table. He seemed even more afraid of Miss Angel than I was.
“Calm down, my love. This is not my idea. Actually, it is your father. He wants to meet Regina,” Nigel said.
Miss Angel looked shocked.
“My father? Why would he want to see her? She is just a filthy slave! You are lying!” she barked.
So no one had told Miss Angel about who I really was yet.
Nigel scratched his head awkwardly, “It’s a long story…Why don’t we wait for your father to arrive and let him tell you everything—”
“NO!”
Miss Angel hissed. She opened her mouth and two long wolf fangs stuck out.
“I am killing her RIGHT NOW!” she howled and jumped right at me!
I ducked urgently behind a chair, which shattered into pieces the next second under her attack. If that chair had been my head, I would have been dead by now.
Miss Angel jumped up right away after one miss strike, her hair loose and her eyes glaring. She was about to come at me again, but Hover stopped her.
“What are you doing, Hover? Kill her! NOW!” Miss Angel struggled fiercely, “You are my warrior! And I am asking you to gut her heart out!”
Hover tightened his grip on her wrist. His face was cold and indifferent.
“I don’t take orders from you, Miss Angel.” he answered with a flat tone, “And you can’t kill her just yet. She is too important.”
Angel froze.
She processed his words for a few seconds before busting into laughter.
“Important…God Hover! Have you lost your mind?! She is just a fucking slave! And I am the Alpha’s daughter! I can snap her neck anytime I want! So what are you still waiting for?”
“No, she is not,” Hover says calmly. “She is Ever Moon Pack’s princess. A real noble. Just like you.”
There was a long silence after that.
Angel jerked around to stare at me. Her eyes grew wider and wider and carried a glazed expression of shock.
“P—Princess?” she murmured in disbelief, “No fucking way…Nigel brought her home. She said she was an orphan and had nowhere else to go…Nigel! NIGEL! What the hell is going on here?!”
Nigel was shivering behind the long table. He stuck his head out when he heard about Angel’s question and answered from the distance in a whisper:
“I—It’s true…Turns out Regina faked her identity before. She is really a princess…”
“No—NO!”
Angel’s voice grew louder. She glared at me, and I looked back at her with calm gaze.
“Are you saying that she is a noble—just like me?” she shirked, “I don’t believe it!”
Hover replied, “In fact, she is not just a noble, but also a princess. Her grandfather, the last Alpha of Ever Moon Pack, crowned himself as King years ago and was recognized by all the packs in the world. Which makes her even more noble than you, Miss Angel.”
“Shut the fuck up Hover! Whose side are you on?! I don’t believe this—some of you must be lying—”
Just then, a man paced into the dining hall. He spoke up with a deep voice, interrupting Angel’s furious roars:
“Hover is right, Angel. You do need to show your respect to Princess Regina.”
Angel jerked around. And the look on her face changed instantly.
“…father,” she murmured with a low voice.
I stared at the man who just came in. He looked large and sturdy, with greasy black hair and a hooked nose. A deep scar came across his face from upper right to down left.
There was a faint smile on his face. But somehow that smile made me very uneasy.
“Princess Regina. I am Alpha Torres. It is an honor to finally meet you,” said him pleasantly.
I stood on my spot quietly with my guard up. I wouldn’t say a word until he told me clearly what he wanted.
“Father!” Angel held his hand and shook it, “This is the woman I told you about. She came in between me and Nigel! I don’t care if she is a princess. You need to kill her, or at least throw her out of here, so that I can be with my love Nigel.”
Alpha Torres pat his daughter’s hand gently, “Not so fast darling. It took us a lot of effort to invite Princess Regina here. We can’t throw her out just yet.”
“Invite?” I gritted, clenching my fists. “You didn’t invite me! You abducted me!”
Alpha Torres shrugged, “Practically the same thing to me…Nigel! Why don’t you come here for a moment?”
Nigel left the corner that he had been hiding and slowly walked up to my side.
Alpha Torres surveyed us with a large grin as though he was looking at a happily married couple.
“Look at you two. What a great match!” he smiled, “Princess Regina, you will have to forgive me for taking you back in such a rough way. But I just hate to see a great couple like you and Nigel going separate ways.”
Both Angel and I were astonished by his words.
“What are you talking about? Nigel beat me! And humiliated me! He is a monster! I have left him already!” I snapped.
And Angel was yelling at the same time, “Father! You promised to marry me to Nigel! Why are you changing you mind?”
“Easy, darling.”
Alpha Torres put his hand on Angel’s head and gently stroked her long hair. And his eyes were on me, with a sly smile on his face.
“You will find another suitor, Angel. It will be very easy for a pretty girl like you,” he said to his daughter lovingly. “And just think about how much our pack will benefit from Nigel and Princess Regina’s marriage. Their kid will be a member of the Shadow Valley. And most importantly, the heir of Ever Moon. How awesome is that?”
A freezing chill was sent down my spine.
And at this very moment, I knew what Torres wanted to do.
He wasn’t going to trade me for anything.
He was more ambitious than that.
He wanted the sovereignty of Ever Moon Pack.
This cunning bastard—
“FORGET IT!” I cried loudly, “There will be no baby! I won’t let Nigel touch me! Just FUCKING FORGET IT!”
Torres’s face turned cold. He snorted and waved his hand in the air, “But you are in my pack now. Let me remind you, Princess Regina, you don’t have a say here.”
I was so furious that I wanted to jump on him and ripped his throat open. But Hover grabbed my arms and stopped me.
Torres then turned to Nigel and said to him with an encouraging smile:
“What are you still doing here Nigel? Now go have sex with your dear wife. I want you to knock her up in one month. She is a beautiful woman. That shouldn’t be too hard for you, is it?”
