Chapter 10
{{ Kiwi's POV 🍈 }}
Kiwi groaned. How on God’s green earth had she managed to find the one person she never wanted to see again, in the arena of all places. The first time she saw Sonya in the arena she knew the natural thing would be to kill her. After all, it wouldn’t be hard because of their difference in stature. But Kiwi was smarter than that. She would use the little gremlin for her own purposes until she was no longer of use. Only then could she partake in the pleasure of dicing her into tiny little pieces.
Sonya was small, small enough to fit into places that most people couldn’t. She could crawl into small spaces to collect supplies or to spy on people.
So, for some unimaginable reason, the two girls had agreed to an alliance and a fragile one at that. They had found a sort of dugout, placed right on the skirts of the valley; the perfect place for spying. The entrance to their little cave was also conveniently situated so that you would only notice it if you were really looking.
The spot was not only good for spying, but for entertainment purposes as well. As Sonya slept, Kiwi had kept guard and she was so thankful she had. A few minutes ago, a stupid little girl from the valley had decided that it would be a good idea to go explore the woods. Once she had disappeared into the woods, one of the boys noticed she was gone and Kiwi assumed he left to go find her. How sweet. Not two minutes had passed since the boy had gone into the forest when an older girl started toward the valley, dragging the little girl by her neck. That really was one stupid girl.
Once the duo had made it to the camp, Kiwi had lost sight of them and patiently waited for the impending chaos. Then a girl screamed for whoever Andrew was and a few seconds later a different girl had screamed. Really screamed. The girl’s captor took off running for the trees and the group in the valley began yelling at each other.
Ah, sweet, sweet chaos. The only thing better than watching it was instigating it. Maybe the games wouldn’t be as bad as she had thought.
{{ Willow's POV 🌿 }}
Sophie was sitting by a small fire when Willow got back from her hunting trip. She had managed to kill two squirrels and had seen a rabbit but it had run before she could get off a shot. It was a good thing that Sophie had found the bow and arrows or else Willow didn’t think they would have had dinner.
Sophie looked up as she approached, "Find anything?"
Willow held up the squirrels and Sophie grinned, “It’s certainly better than nothing.”
It had only been a day since the two girls stumbled upon each other but they had gotten along instantly. They had stayed up almost all night talking and exchanging stories by the fire, laughing and reminiscing about their previous lives.
Sophie had quickly realized that Willow was utter crap with a knife so she had taken on the task of skinning the animals. Willow had told her to keep the knife, seeing as it wouldn’t do either of them much good if she was the one to wield it.
Willow sat down on the opposite side of the fire from Sophie and leaned back against a tree. She was just about to close her eyes when a flash of silvery blond hair and blue eyes appeared behind Sophie. Willow jumped to her feet and snatched her bow, which she had set down next to her. But before she could make a move towards the girl, she had disappeared. Great. Just one more thing to worry about.
{{ Mackenzie's POV ⚡}}
All Mackenzie could feel was pain. Excruciating, searing, neverending pain. That arrogant prick would regret stabbing her. And that laugh. She had the audacity to laugh!
It had been several hours since she had been stabbed in the arm, just below the shoulder. Carrie had already bandaged the wound but they had nothing to stop the pain. After all, how would the capital bastards get their entertainment if they didn’t have pain?
All she could do was lay on her makeshift bed and groan. Carrie and Ash had tried their best to console her, but there was really nothing they could do. And if she was being frank, they were starting to get on her nerves.
Andrew was still comforting K.C. who had somehow been kidnapped. Did that brat have a single brain cell? The girl hadn’t even done anything to K.C. except make empty threats but apparently, she was traumatized. She would have vocalized her opinion of the child’s stupidity but didn’t have the strength.
Mackenzie moaned again and tried to shift herself into a different position.
Carrie was still hovering close by her side and looked down at her with concern, “Mackenzie, you should try to get at least a little sleep. It will make you feel better.”
“You know, I would sleep if K.C. would stop her whining. The pain also doesn’t really help, but thanks for the suggestion.”
Andrew threw her a glare and Carrie looked taken aback. As if she cared what any of them thought of her. She had just been impaled and no one even cared.
“Calm down, alright? Carrie was just trying to help and K.C. hasn’t said anything for the past hour,” Ash growled as he stood next to Carrie. “Come on Carrie let’s leave her alone. Clearly, that’s what she wants.”
With one last pitying look, Carrie stood and walked with Ash toward the fire.
It took all of Mackenzie’s effort to roll onto her side so that her back faced the rest of the camp. When she was better she would leave the sorry lot of them. Good riddance.
