66. Marked, Mated, and Wedded

**XANDER**

I had to make it happen.
I mated with Maeve, marked her flawless skin with my brand, and put my seed in her. And now my beautiful seven-month pregnant mate was going to walk down the aisle for.
For us, the wolves, marriage was instead a celebration than a ceremony because when our wolves find their mate, we consider ourselves to be eternally cemented in each other's lives.
But Maeve must have dreamt a wedding, I thought. She had been full of dreams, and I vowed to my wolf that I would make her experience all that she ever dreamt of. Maeve would have a wedding of fit for a luna. She would never have regret or another squandered moment in her life.
I took every advantage I could as the Alpha of the pack and ordered the men and women to prepare for the wedding. But the most surprising of it all that no one complained.
Everyone loved Maeve, and when they had heard of her selfless nature and generous heart, they had already accepted her as the Luna.
Within a day, the arrangements were made at the ground of the packhouse, and it was decorated beyond recognition.
"Ready?" Blaize whispered into my ears with a smirk.
"Shut up."
Music began as I sucked in a deep breath and tugged at the tie around my neck. And when my eyes fell on Maeve, I forgot to breathe. She was looking like an angel walking down the aisle. Her elegant sleeveless wedding dress folded her frame, and the beautiful baby bump she was having. For a seven-month old, the bump was more generous, and that's because I was going to be the father of twins—two beautiful, lively pups of ours.
Maeve was smiling at someone, but when our eyes met, I could swear by the Goddess that my heart stopped.
*Time* stilled.
A *second* lasted forever.
Fluttering down her lashes, she gave me a secret smile and quickly turned her head away. When the distance finally closed between us, I took her hand in mine.
The ceremony began, but all I could focus on was on her. Those beautiful, smiling eyes. Her fuller lips.
Everything on her.

**MAEVE**

Even though my legs were on pins and needles, my body felt tired, the sight of Xander took me by surprise. He looked exceptionally handsome in a black tux. And the way he was staring at me, with the kind of reverence, it set my body vibrating.
I was his now. His lover, his mate, his woman, and his wife. And lastly, the mother of his unborn children.
Every cell in my body was aware of the fact that I belonged to Alpha Xander.
"With this ring, I promise to love and care for you and I will try in every way to be worthy of your love. I will always be honest with you, kind, patient, and forgiving. But most of all, I promise to be a true and loyal mate to you. I love you, Maeve. Today and forever."
He slid the simple wedding band, elegant platinum things with a diamond glistening on top.
"The Alpha and Luna of this pack are finally marked, mated and wedded!" The celebrant announced. "Let the feast began!"
Cheers and applauds broke out as everyone came up and congratulated. Right after the ceremony had ended, Xander led me to the small make-shift throne chair they had erected and seated me over there. By no means could I remain standing for long.
Some time into the ceremony, Xander came closer and whispered into my ears. "I love you."
I laughed, throwing my head back. "I love you, Alpha Xander, and you already know that."
He tipped up my smiling face and kept staring at me - completely dazed. "What are you doing?" I asked.
"Memorising you…this moment between us. Do you how beautiful you are when you smile? It's like the bright full moon in a cloudless sky."
"Only you think because you love me, Xan."
As I watched the pack gather around, sing and dance and sway, my heart swelled so much that I was convinced I would burst out. As strange as it was, I have a profound sense of belonging to them. They were my family…the family I craved growing up. This is what I have been searching for all my life.
I was finally home.
*My home with Xander. And our kids.*
