~Saying Goodbye To A Alpha~

~Joey~
After taking a shower and getting ready I address the pack. "Hello everyone. I challenged Alpha Max and won and am now the new Alpha." There is whispers and gasps from several but otherwise nothing is said or done. "I will be naming Kyle as my Beta and Theodore and Thomas will be my Gamma's" I say. More people whisper and look around as the guys come up and join me. "I understand that you were loyal to Max and I hope that loyalty will pass down to me. I will not force anyone to stay. You can leave if you wish, but I hope you will stay." I go on telling them how I want to bring the pack forward and my plans and by the end everyone was satisfied. Nobody challenged me or anything which was a shock. I half expected Max's Bata to but he didn't. "We will be having a Alpha's funeral for Max at sundown. I would invite everyone but Mary wishes it to be private and is very upset so I am going to have a dinner of sorts for anyone who wants to come at the pack house." I say then dismiss everyone and head to the pack house to make for sure we are ready for the dinner and funeral. After I speak with the kitchen staff and send Theodore and Thomas with Max's old Beta and Gamma to get everything ready for the funeral I head to my office. I smile as I enter and see Mary laying in a ball crying and wrapped in a blanket on the couch. I walk over and pick her up and sit her on my lap and kept her clung to me because after all I did just kill her father. I kind of felt sorry for her within a span of a month she lost both her brother and father. As I rubbed her back I whispered sweet nothings in her ear telling her how sorry I was it had to be that way. "I know you couldn't do it any other way and I will get over it eventually but it hurts right now. Thank you again for letting me have a funeral and it being private. I really don't want to see anyone." she says. "I know thats why I kept it a private affair I didn't want you to be bombarded with questions and everything else if you are not ready babe." I say. She kisses my cheek then lays her head on my shoulder and cries herself to sleep. I lay her on the couch gently and sit behind my desk.

I will have to make for sure she eats before the funeral because I didn't see her eat anything this morning. I have developed a soft spot for her. The more she was away from her dad and brother the nicer she became. She is also very beautiful so that also helps. After several hours of work I wake Mary up so we can eat and the head to the area so we can have her fathers funeral. As I am eating I managed to get her to eat some chicken and a little mashed potatoes and some veggies. Hopefully I can get her to eat more the poor girl is to small as it is. As we head out she grabs my hand like its a life line and I remind her to grab a jacket as we head out the door. Once we are all there I say a few words about the honorable man and Alpha Max was and then turn it over to Mary. "My father was a proud stubborn man that always got what he wanted and he wanted his children to be perfect and of course we fell short of his expectations a lot but he still loved us. I will miss you Daddy and you will forever be in my heart." Mary says as tears stream down her face. Max's Bata then lights a few torches and hand one to Mary and then to me. We all place it on spots of the alter and step back as it starts to ignite.

~Kyle~
I stand there listening to what Joey is saying about Max and try not to roll my eyes. Yeah he was a good man but as a Alpha he abused his power a lot. I remember when he would run us warriors ragged just for being a minute late to training or the time we got the crap beat out of us because the twins had snuck out. Mary then took over speaking and said goodbye to her father. I did feel sorry for her she was now all alone. Of course she had got really close to Joey today. She stands there hugging herself with tears running down her face as she says her peace. Then Max's Bata gives her and Joey a lit torch and they place them around the alter and it catches on fire. They step back and we all watch it as it burns. Joey wraps a arm around her shoulders and I just shake my head. I wonder if she thinks she will be his Luna. Hell I wonder if he has changed his mind about getting rid of her. The more it burns the more Mary sobs. She then turns and wraps her arms around his waist and cries into his chest.

We can't do much but watch. We have a urn with his initials engraved on it to put his ashes in once the fire is complete. I rub her back with my hand and kiss her head and tell her I am sorry and she looks at me and says. "Thank you Kyle." She finally turns and continues to watch it burn. She then look at me and Joey and says, "I am going to head back to the pack house and take a shower and head to bead. I will get daddys ashes in the morning." "Ok be careful and if you need anything let us know." Joey tells her. We then watch her walk off towards the woods headed to the pack house. We all just stand there watching the fire as it burns. Everyone lost in their own thoughts. I knew within a few days we would be taking the girls and the that would start a problem. Sometimes I wonder if we should just let it go because those guys will come after the girls I just hope they never find them.
