45.
Farryn and Tristan took their time dressing, occasionally being interrupted by a fleeting hand or two on each others bare skin. Once they had finally finished getting dressed Tristan pulled his Alpha close to his chest and nuzzled her neck, his lips briefly brushing over the fresh mark she wore.
“So does this make me Luna now?” He asked sarcastically with a deep chuckle, loving the way her body vibrated with her laughter.
“I’m honestly not sure, let’s just say yes for now… for the fun of it at least.” She told him with a wink before pulling away from his arms drawing a quiet whine from her mate.
“Xaiver I do have to warn you, Jason is not going to be happy.” Her tone of voice lost all playfulness as they began to leave the rubble of her old home. Tristan clicked his tongue in distaste.
“So? What does Mr. Beta have to do with us?” He gazed at her curiously as he spoke, Jason should have no reason to be upset unless he had feelings for Farryn. He watched the way her lips twitched into a frown and her eyes hit the ground, she was nervous.
“He is also my mate.” She muttered quietly, but still loud enough for Tristan to hear. He came to a quick stop as a vicious growl reverberated in his throat.
“He is my original wolf’s mate, I have rejected him. I don’t have any feelings for him, I personally do not have any feelings for him and that won’t change.” She spoke quickly to calm him down, her hands reached out for his arms and for a moment she thought he might pull away. His growling quieted as he grabbed ahold of her waist and pulled her in quickly, rubbing his cheek along her own and her neck.
The marks on their necks would be proof enough of their bond, overtime their scents would mingle and become one but for Tristan the only way to be calm at the idea of returning to the pack where Jason was, was to ensure that Farryn smelt solely of him. The hint of sex on her didn’t hurt either. Farryn remained still, allowing him to do what he needed to in order for him to relax.
“I should have mentioned something sooner, I’m sorry.” Her words were muffled by his shirt but Tristan shook his head.
“It’s fine, everything is going to be fine.” He promised once he had pulled away. He interlaced their fingers together and led the way back to the pack.

Farryn could hear the whispers and murmurs of shock when they returned hand in hand, she knew that several had suspected she might have feelings for him for a while now considering how defensive she had always been of him. There was no blush of embarrassment on her face as she walked with her head high, not only was this her mate but he had beaten her months ago in a fight. He was incredibly strong, it made them the perfect power couple.
They had discussed their living arrangements on the way pack, for the pack Tristan would remain in the Jail until the full moon passed. Neither liked the idea of him sleeping halfway across town but it was the only way Farryn could ensure that there was still a sense of peace. She knew there was a likely chance of unrest among the pack mates when they found out they were fated mates, surely many would accused her of hiding the truth in order to protect her other half. But Farryn had laid those worries to rest long before she had decided to claim him. Her pack could speak their minds and yell as much as they wanted. Once the full moon was over however no one would be able to deny that she had made the right decisions all along.
The pair parted with a brief kiss, Tristan heading back to the jail, and Farryn heading back to her home. When she turned she noticed Jason’s stormy gaze watching her. He was the one issue she wasn’t sure how to handle. As much as she disliked the idea, if he couldn’t behave she would have no choice but to strip him of his title. Farryn turned away from him without a second glance and entered the house, heading up the stairs to Ashia’s room. She could hear the sound of the young female’s heartbeat inside so she knew she was still alive at least. Before she could raise her hand to knock Ashia spoke.
“Just come in, it is time we spoke anyways.” Farryn suppressed a chuckle as she opened the young Dragonkin’s door. Ashia was sprawled across her bed staring at the ceiling, as if she was waiting for it to give her answers.
“My mother did not have pleasant news for you.” She said as she tilted her head back to look at the young Alpha upside down. Farryn shook her head as she shut the door behind her.
“No, it was definitely far from pleasant. I take it your father didn’t either?” She asked with a slight tilt of her head drawing a frown from Ashia as she rolled over onto her stomach before bringing herself to sit up.
“His blood’s death, including me. Apparently that is the only way to break the curse.” Ashia spoke with a growl, the disgust was clear in her eyes as she gripped the comforter on her bed. Farryn exhaled slowly, no wonder she had been hiding in her room.
“Tristan wouldn’t do that.” Farryn promised though a small voice in the back of her mind couldn’t help but question if Deacon might should he get loose.
“I can’t guarantee that I have a solution for any of Tristan’s relatives to come, but I do have one for him. Honestly though, he’s what’s important to this pack so he’s what I need to be focused on. You don’t need to worry about anything though Ashia, you’ll be safe, and you’re mother will be here soon. Once everything’s over, I promise to buy plenty of furs to make up for your shop being closed.” Farryn flashed Ashia a wide grin as the young female seemed to relax at the mention of her mother coming to the pack. Her eyes lit up at the prospect of making more money though.
“I may have to charge you interest as well.” She teased as Farryn opened the bedroom door once more. The Alpha’s laughter filled the room as the Dragonkin settled back into her bed.
“If that’s what it takes then that’s what I’ll pay!” She promised wholeheartedly before returning to her own room where she sat in the dark. Alone, her smile was gone, her laughter had faded away with the light. Her throat seemed to tighten as she tried to swallow. Farryn knew without a shadow of a doubt, she was going to lose the title of Alpha.
