Chapter42
By the time Shravan reached the bedroom after cooling off his grandfather, he heard the loud music coming from a small speaker on the bed side table.
And Drishti was dancing to the fast music, on the bed, with total abandon.
Her eyes were closed and her hands and hips were swaying in rhythm to the music
His lips formed a thin line realising that nothing is seems to affect her in any way.
She had an argument with him in the afternoon. Then she had an argument with his grandfather in the evening. And now she is dancing away on his bed, with no care of the world.
He walked towards the speaker and
switched it off.
"Break ya fuckin' neck, bitches
Yeah, yeah, here we go now" Drishti sang loudly off pitch, without realizing the music has stopped.
Shravan folded his arms across his chest and glared at her, waiting for her to notice his presence
"The way you break yo' back and I break yo' neck" Drishti trailed off, suddenly realising on her voice was heard in the room
She opened her eyes and saw her husband glaring at her.
She smiled sheepishly and got down from the bed.
Her smile bounced off him with no effect.
Drishti rolled her eyes, seeing him still glaring at her.
"Okay fine. Stop glaring. I'm sorry about the silk shirt. I shouldn't have thrown water at you. But you shouldn't be wearing silk shirts on normal days. Try wearing some practical clothes" Drishti said
"Given that swimming in the fountain is not normally part of my day, a suit is perfectly practical." He said and moved closer to where she is standing
"We need to agree to some boundaries while we're staying here in the palace." He said
"Boundaries? Yippee." Drishti pulled a face and then saw his expression and shrugged. "OK. Fire away."
"The first is that you don't swim in the fountain."
"Why not?"
"Because it isn't designed for swimming."
"It's water. What else do you need to swim?"
"It is an ornamental pond, designed in the eighteenth century by a famous landscape
architect. Flown from Italy" He said the words carefully, as if speaking to a child.
"The palace opens the garden several times a year to interested visitors. The fountain is part of the tour. It's an object of interest to historians. It is not for bathing."
"Then whoever designed the fountain must have been a real tease because every normal person would automatically want to leap in it to cool down."
Shravan kept glading at her
"Could I swim in it if I promise to leap straight out if I see a coach party coming?" She asked and his expression went from black to thunderous and she rolled her eyes.
"Right, no fountain." She said sulkily
"There is a swimming pool on the south wing. When we've finished here I'll show you the way."
"I bet it doesn't have a fountain in the middle of it."
He ignored her interruption.
"I am not looking forward to removing you half naked from the fountain, Drishti. And while we are here, when I ask you to do something, I expect you to comply without argument."
"Comply. That basically means I'm
supposed to do what you say." Drishti wrinkled her nose.
"Drishti" Shravan called out in a warning tone
"I can't promise that without knowing what it is. I mean, what if you ask me to do something shocking. Like eat oysters or something disgusting like that in that formal dining hall of yours. Ew."
"Oysters are a delicacy."
"They're slippery, slimy, putrid things that make me—"
"Fine! Spare me the details." Shravan snapped
Talking to her is simply waste of time
"Remember? No swimming in the fountain" Shravan reminded her
"Are you seriously telling me you've never been tempted to swim in that fountain?"
"Never."
"Now you're lying." She watched him closely. "Admit it—just for a moment back there you were tempted to get in the fountain with me. You did think about it. If the maid hadn't come when she did you would have taken off that suit and—"
"I wouldn't have" Shravan denied
"Really? Just imagine. You and me in the pool. Isn't it tempting Shravan?" Drishti asked mischievously as she stepped closer to him.
"Drishti"
"And you look like you had a bad day. You could have gotten into the fountain and cooled yourself down with me" Drishti said as she wound her arms around his neck
Shravan let himself hold her. His anger melting away as he looked into her emerald green eyes
"You don't let people stay mad at you. Do you?" Shravan asked huskily as he tucked
a strand of her hair behind her ears.
Drishti grinned.
"No. I stay mad at people. But nobody stays mad at Drishti" Drishti said confidently
He lowered his head and pressed a teasing kiss to the corner of her lips.
Instantly, revealingly, she turned her head straight into the kiss, lips parting in readiness for the exhilarating plunge of his tongue. Low in her throat she moaned when he gave her what she longed for.
He shifted against her, one hand cupping her hips to tilt her to him so that she could feel the urgent vigour of the erection tenting the fine fabric of his trousers. A
quiver of pure hunger, as sharp as it was painful in its intensity, slivered through her.
Shravan let his hands explore her thoroughly.
"You are a work of art." He mumbled against her lips
She arched up to him and he crushed her mouth below his again, his tongue meshing with hers in an erotic dance.
"Oh Shravan" she moaned, burning with an all encompassing need.
They pulled apart from each other when they heard the steady knock on the door
"Damn" Shravan cursed under his breath
He opened the door and found a maid waiting at the door
"Yes?" Shravan asked
"Anuradha Ma'am is calling you both to her room, Sir" The maid said blushing hard and ran away as soon as she conveyed the message, making Shravan frown
"Mom is asking for us" Shravan said
"Yeah. I heard. Come let's go" Drishti said walking towards the door
"Wait" Shravan held her hands before she went out
"What?"
"Your lipstick is smudged" He said and
tried to wipe it with his thumb and made a mess out of it
"Damn it. Why isn't it rubbing off" Shravan asked
"It is water proof. We need make up remover to get it off" Drishti said as she walked towards the dresser
She took out her make up remover and rubbed the lipstick off
"Why are you even wearing lipstick while you are at home?" Shravan asked as he saw Drishti coming towards him with the remover
"I love lipsticks" Drishti shrugged and removed the lipstick from Shravan's mouth too.
Shravan stared at her horrified
"I had it on my face?" He asked
"Yes. I noticed only when you pointed out mine" Drishti said
"Damn. No wonder that girl was blushing like crazy" Shravan murmered in embarrassment
