Chapter50
Drishti had been grumpy and cranky the whole day.
Why not?
She had been forced to fast and fasting has never been her fort.
Not that she has ever tried before.
"You are not going to die if you skipped two meals a day" Siddhu said rolling his eyes seeing the grumpy look on Drishti's face.
"Then why don't you try fasting. Let me see how long you last" Drishti said glaring at her so called bestfriend.
Divyanshi brought a plate of some Rajasthani snacks and handed it over to
her son in law, who was scrolling through his iPad, looking through his work mails.
He looked up and smiled at his mother in law. He had missed the breakfast this morning, as he was caught up in a video conference.
"Thank you aunty" Shravan said and took one in his hands and before it could reach his mouth, he heard the loud dramatic gasp and looked up to see Drishti looking at him with wounded eyes.
"What?" He asked with a frown
"You are going to eat that?" Drishti asked pointing her finger at the snack
"Uh Yes" Shravan nodded, still confused as to why she is looking at him like that.
"But you didn't have breakfast today" Drishti pointed out
"Yeah. I missed it, because I was caught up with work. And now I'm hungry" Shravan said with a shrug
"You didn't miss the breakfast to give me company in fasting?" Drishti asked accusingly
Shravan stared at his wife in absolute horror.
"Exactly my thoughts. I really thought you were giving D company, Shravan bhai" Siddhu said cheekily, adding oil to the fire earning a glare in return
"I thought.." Shravan began to say
something, but Drishti sliced her hand through the air cutting his words off midway
"How could you? How could you even think about eating when I have been starving since morning? Is that how a husband behaves?" Drishti asked, hands on her hips
"Drishti, honey. Let him eat" Divya said and Drishti turned her accusing eyes onto her mother
"Maa? Paa always fasts with you on Karwachauth. You never stopped him. Did you? Then why this double standards now?" Drishti asked and Divya looked away guiltily
Drishti looked back at her husband, who was still in the same position.
"You are still having that snack with you?" Drishti asked seeing that he hadn't dropped the snack back to the plate as she expected.
"Uh. I was about to keep it back" Shravan said and quickly placed it back to the plate making Drishti grin
"You will give me company in fasting?" Drishti asked
"Ofcourse. That's what a good husband does, right?" Shravan asked seeing the fiery light in Drishti's eyes
"Aww. How sweet of you. You are the best" Drishti did a one eighty turn and shot him her gorgeous blinding smile and sat next to him and gave him a side hug.
And that brought a smile on Shravan's face.
He could go on without food as long as he would be rewarded with that blinding smile and open affections, he thought.
Siddhu stared at Shravan and shook his head.
"You are a total gone case, Shravan bhai" Siddhu muttered and left with Divya, leaving the couple to themselves.

Shravan walked into Sharan's bedroom a little after the evening and found him busy on the laptop.
"Sharan" he called out and his brother
looked up from whatever he was doing.
"Bhai. Come in" Sharan said closing the laptop and motioning his brother in.
"Are you busy?" Shravan asked
"No bhai. You need something?" Sharan asked
"Can we talk?" Shravan asked
"Sure." Sharan said moving the laptop out of the way, making space for his brother to sit.
"Sharan, yesterday.."
"I'm really sorry for yesterday bhai. I don't know what I was thinking" Sharan apologised, feeling ashamed of himself
"I understand Sharan. I honestly don't know what I wanted to talk to you about. I just don't want us to be on guard with each other, Sharan" Shravan said
"I understand bhai. We both didn't expect this twist in our life. And we both reacted to that. I shouldn't have told you something like that" Sharan said
They both know what they were talking about. Sharan asking them to get their marriage annulled. It was kind of a reflex reaction and he genuinely does regret it.
"And I shouldn't have reacted to that, without considering your feelings either" Shravan said
"I want you to know that I will never come
in between you two" Sharan said
"You are okay with this?" Shravan asked
"I did love her bhai. Maybe it was an exaggerated crush. She was like the dream girl of the college and honestly, in the beginning it was just for the thrill of getting the dream girl." Sharan said
Shravan wasn't very sure, if he wanted to continue this conversation. But for the sake of his brother, he decided to listen to him.
"She is not my first love bhai. She won't be my last either. It might take some time, but I'm sure I will move on" Sharan said with a smile
Shravan's wasn't sure if his brother was
telling that just for his sake, but he hope it became true.
"Maybe you will find someone with whom, there is no chance of you falling out of love" Shravan said
"Hopefully."
"Mom and Dad are worried." Shravan said
"I will talk to them today"
"I hope you won't go off again like you didn't yesterday. Finding you in that place, it terrified me Sharan" Shravan admitted
"I'm sorry bhai. It won't happen again" Sharan promised
"This is cheating. Absolute cheating" they
both heard the loud voice of Tej Maheswari and ran towards where the voice came from.
They both stopped in tracks seeing Tej pointing a shaking finger at Drishti and Drishti staring back defiantly.
"What did she do now?" Shravan groaned
"I'm not cheating. You are simply getting old. Memory problems are very common during old age dadu" Drishti said
"You? You are calling me an old man?" Tej asked incredulously
"Not necessarily." Drishti shrugged
"You are a liar" Tej accused
"How about we try another hand and see what happens?" Drishti asked smugly
"Not a chance. I don't enjoy wasting my time with liars and cheaters" Tej said with a superior attitude
"You are simply scared" Drishti mocked
"Fine. Let's try another hand. This time, if I find you cheating, I will have the dungeons be opened" Tej warned
"We will see" Drishti said, flicking her hair in attitude
"What the hell is going on here?" Shravan asked losing his wits.
