Chapter65

Shravan closed his laptop, after staring at it for hours, without actually doing any work.
He should have listened to what she had to say.
He knows how much D Love means to her. And if she has decided to sell it to VK out of all people, there must definitely be a solid reason.
Shravan decided to wind up his work at office and go home to Drishti.
What magic has she done over him, that he couldn't even stay angry at her, he wondered with a soft smile.
"Anjali, hold all my calls for the day. I won't be available for the rest of the weekend"
Shravan told the receptionist on his way out.
****
Shravan stared at the empty penthouse suite and sighed.
Did she pack her bags and go to Siddhu's house in anger, he wondered.
She always has a way of making herself the injured party and him the offender, Shravan thought with a chuckle.
He took his phone to dial her number, when he notice a note placed on the coffee table.
It reminded him of the first note they exchanged. During the initial days of their
marriage, where he thought Drishti went missing.
That's the first moment he realised that a part of him has stared caring for her.
He opened the noted and read what she has written in it.
'Searching for me? Find me at my favourite place.
Love
Drishti '
Shravan smiled.
She knew.
She knew he would come back for her.
Shravan took out his phone and called his
pilot to get the chopper ready.
He is going to D Love. To his home. Drishti.
He made a small detour and collected something before resuming his way to the helipad.
****
As soon as he stepped down the chopper, Shravan breathed in the fresh air.
It was almost nightfall and the stars are getting visible.
He could see the clear sky, totally free from the city pollution.
He could now understand what would have happened if a resort construction had
begun.
This peace would have distrupted.
It would have ruined the place.
"Shravan Maheswari?" He heard a woman ask and he looked at her in surprise.
"You know me?" Shravan asked
"Ofcourse. You married our child. How can we not know you" the older woman said with a bright smile
"Oh...." Shravan didn't know what to say
"She said that you would come tonight. Come, I will show you the way to the cottage" the woman said and escorted him to the said cottage.
All along the walk, she told tales of how Vihaan Malhotra had bought the island from the Khodas. And how worried they were to welcome the new owner. And how much the Malhotra family means to them now.
And that Drishti and Damini Malhotras are the apples of their eyes.
"There you go. She is in" the woman waved him a goodbye and left.
Shravan looked at the small cottage. It doesn't look luxurious for a Malhotra property. But it looked beautiful. Small and cute.
There was a small verandah were two cane chairs and a tea table was present. It
has a direct view to the beach.
He knocked on the door, as there was no calling bell. The door opened a few minutes later and Drishti hugged him, without sparing a moment.
He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer.
"I should have listened to you in the morning" Shravan said
"You have plenty of time to listen" Drishti said and ushered him inside
****
After a quick shower, they settled on the cane chairs on the verandah.
"Here you go. This is Vihaan Malhotra special Irish coffee. The only thing I know to make without causing a kitchen disaster" Drishti said with a cheeky grin
"Hmmm. This is good" Shravan said as he took a sip of the coffee
They enjoyed the rest of the coffee in silence, with the background musical sound of the waves slapping against the shore.
Shravan could feel the magical vibe around the whole place. He had dismissed her feelings, when she had once told him that D Love is magic. But then he hadn't felt it first hand. Now that he knew, he couldn't think of selling the place.
"Why do you want to see D Love to VK
Drishti?" Shravan asked curiously
"I don't want to sell this place Shravan. But I have to" Drishti said and proceeded to explain the promise Vihaan Malhotra made to VK years back. And how she wants to keep up her father's promise. She also told him that she made a deal with the Khodas
"And what's the deal? You mentioned that he didn't particularly like the deal" Shravan said
"I agreed to sell half the land, Shravan. On certain conditions. There will be no construction works from his side. He will agree to the construction of a spacious multi helipad towards the outer region of the island. Access for certain people into the island" Drishti said
"I didn't understand. Why do you need a multi helipad. And what access are you talking about?" Shravan asked
"You once mentioned about the wild island a few miles away from D Love. That someone suggested you to build your resort there. I know that is not your first choice. But, if you ever decide to take up that project, guests from SM resorts will have access to the island during the day time. Either through chopper or speed boats. It's your choice" Drishti said
"It's a good idea. One I have been playing around with for a while. Let me discuss with Mithran. I will let you know after that" Shravan said.
"Great. D Love always has been a sore subject between us. I hope that ends now"
Drishti said
"It does"
"Let's have dinner at the local dhaba here. The food is to die for" Drishti said
****
They had a good time at the dhabha.
The localities had gathered to see the royal prince who married their dear Drishti.
The night had passed with singing and dancing and Shravan enjoyed it to the fullest.
Finally feeling the magic of the island.
They strolled along the island in the
twilight.
Drishti skipped alongside him, dancing around, still very much a child.
"Look at the stars. There are so many" Drishti said in awe looking at the sky
"No pollution dimming our view" Shravan said in agreement
"That's exactly what my father said when we came here the first time. How unromantic of you Shravan"
"Simple truth" Shravan said with a grin, irritating her more.
Drishti huffed her exasperation.
She marched towards the cottage, and
Shravan pulled her back into his arms.
"What?" Drishti snapped
"I'm trying to be romantic" Shravan said
"And you are failing" Drishti said
Shravan took out a velvet box from his pocket and held it in front of her.
"Oh. But you already gave me a ring" Drishti said pointing at the emerald studded ring on her finger.
"Open it" Shravan said
Drishti opened it and found a platinum band with a small diamond at the centre.
"This looks like a gent's model" Drishti said
in confusion.
"Because it is" Shravan said
Drishti looked up at him in confusion
"Drishti Maheswari, you wanted to propose me, on your knees with a ring. You didn't get a chance to do it. So, I thought I would give you a chance. Here's the ring. The stage is yours darling" Shravan said
Drishti grinned at him
"You are the best Shravan Maheswari" Drishti squealed and pressed a loud kiss on his cheeks before taking the ring from his hands.
Drishti took in a deep breath and got on her knees, with the ring box open.
"Shravan Maheswari, the love of my life" Drishti said dramatically making Shravan chuckle.
"No no. Let me try again" Drishti said making a hand gesture of erasing what she said.
"Okay try again" Shravan said indulgently.
"Shravan, the peanut butter to my jelly." Drishti said making Shravan roll his eyes.
"You didn't like that?" Drishti asked with a pout
Shravan shrugged.
"Let me try something else then" Drishti said and started thinking
Shravan pulled her up from her knees.
"Let's stand and think" Shravan said
"I can't come up with a single thing" Drishti whined
"Well, I kind of sprang it on you" Shravan said
"I can't believe it. For as long as I know, I have been a hopeless romantic. I can't believe that, when the time came for proposing, I can't seem to find a single word" Drishti huffed
Shravan laughed
"Let's just go with the ring" Drishti said and made Shravan wear the ring.
"I love you" Shravan said
"I love you more" Drishti said before Shravan leaned down and took her lips in his, kissing her passionately.
