Chapter 11

Jaxon's POV

I survey the arena and notice that the introverted wolf who used to hide in a hoodie and baggy track pants is no longer present. In her place stands a fierce warrior. I was in the crowd when she was rejected, and my cousins had intervened. Initially, I couldn't understand their actions until we spoke. It became clear that this she-wolf deserved far better than what fate had dealt her. As I observe her now, I realize that the timid wolf I had seen before was merely a facade. The magnificent fighter before me is the true essence of the wolf.

She is about to defeat me, and I feel honored to face her in battle. She exudes a fierce aura that screams Alpha. After this, I hope she will accept my offer of friendship. The bell rings, signaling the start of the battle. It ends swiftly; she fought fiercely, showing no mercy and proving herself to be the best fighter. I feel a sense of joy at being defeated by such a strong individual just before I black out.

Sarah's POV

My blood boils with fury. How dare she outshine me? How is she in the Alpha class? How dare she try to steal Matt from me? That little wench will pay. My parents are furious with me, questioning why I'm not at least in the elite fighter class. Seriously, I didn't want to ruin my nails, and all that sweating and running—ugh, not my style. Plus, I can't stand pain, but I love inflicting it. And I will make sure she pays.

I'll have Daddy chain her to the post in the basement again. By the time I'm done with her, she'll never dare to challenge me again. And how dare she change her name without permission? Didn't she realize she publicly embarrassed our parents? They are also planning to make her regret her decision. I hope they kick her out, but not before I have my turn.

I search for Matt in the stands, but he's not looking at me. Serenity had caved in his face, and I know from experience that it hurts, although he heals faster than I do, leaving behind ugly bruises. I had been in pain and unable to show my face for three days. I try to catch Matt's attention, but he's still not looking at me; instead, he gazes at the billboard with my sister's picture.

She is practically naked, and her wolf Xena, with those markings, looks grotesquely huge. She needs to lose weight, and someone should inform her that a snarl is unattractive. But Matt is looking at the picture with sadness and longing.

What! No! Matt is mine! He already rejected her, and she rejected him back. I glare back at the picture. She's still trying to take Matt away from me! No! I won't allow it. That woman should go to hell! This time I'll ensure she bears scars. I'll carve her face with a silver knife, infuse silver into the whip's tails, and whip her until her back and front are raw meat!

My rage intensifies as I watch her descend into the arena. I search for my parents, not bothering to watch the fight. My mom and dad are arguing, and she has made them forget about me, their Princess. Before long, the battle is over, and she is declared the winner. What?! I look up at the board, and there it is—the audacity!

Matt's POV

I messed up. I rejected my mate. I gaze at the picture on the board, and suddenly, I see nothing ugly about her. Sarah's words fade away, and my wolf remains silent within my mind. He never approved of Sarah, and I should have listened to him instead of following my desires. I should have listened to my wolf, who warned me not to trust her. I have thrown away my Goddess-given mate for someone who wasn't worth it.

Once both parties reject each other, the bond cannot be repaired. I feel the pain of discarding my Goddess-given mate. Then Sarah attacked her, and I was and am too weak to protect her. I look at her picture on the board, where she is listed as the First Rank Alpha Class. She deserved better than me, and the realization of what I have lost overwhelms me. I never deserved her, and her next mate must be the Alpha of Alphas to be worthy of her.

Darien's POV

After texting my brother, I decide to record Alora's battle to share with him. As she walks into the arena and ascends the platform, she sheds her cardigan and skirt, assuming a familiar fighter's stance. I have seen my brother and father take that stance, and there's a reason I'm one of the top two ranks in the Alpha class. Observing Alora move and defeat the other wolf reinforces why she was ranked first. Although I only began training with Alora this year, I knew she had been training in a separate dojo arena since the start of high school.

My brother and father had arranged this to protect her from her sister and to help her conceal her abilities. The less her family despised her, the fewer reasons they had to abuse her, and the greater her chances of self-improvement to escape their grasp. That's why my brother and father have supported her as they have. Seeing Sarah's maniacal fury below makes me believe tonight is the night she needs to move into the pack house.

I send my brother the video of her fight and share my observations and gut feeling that we need to relocate her to the pack house that night. He responds that he had already considered the same and was awaiting our father's response. I knew my father was among the crowd; he never missed any of our official fights. He views Alora as the daughter he never had, and my mother adores her and wishes to shower her with affection. However, my mother understands the repercussions if her family discovers how much the Luna and Alpha of our pack care for her.

To me, Alora is more than a best friend; she is my sister. I am certain she means much more to my older brother, not just as a sister. I hope the Goddess will unite those two souls. If anyone would care for and love Alora as she deserves, it is my brother Damien. At 23, still without a mate, I begin to wonder if this was the Goddess's plan all along.
