Chapter 62 He Can't Keep a Secret
Emily had a feeling it was going to be a good vacation when she met the pilot, whose name was Darla. Darla was a wrinkled middle-aged lady, not exactly Byron’s type. And as with all his employees, he was respectful and kind with her, but never improper. Emily felt slightly bad about rejoicing that a woman wasn’t very attractive, but she had grown possessive of her man.
After a few hours’ flight over the Pacific, they landed on the island. It really did seem like a special place. The smells of many different flowers reached her, enchanting her senses as soon as she stepped off the plane. The sun beamed down gently through a haze of clouds. It was the kind of place she had only dreamed of.
“Thanks, Darla,” Byron said as he bid the pilot goodbye, “See you in a couple of days.”
“A couple of days?” Emily asked as they got into the car that awaited them.
“Don’t worry, we’re not leaving so soon,” Byron said, “Darla is going to bring a special surprise for you.”
“A special surprise? This place is already amazing enough. What more could I ask for?”
“It’s something you’ll enjoy,” Byron said mysteriously.
The car rumbled along lush, forested hillsides. Emily spotted parrots and other colorful birds in the branches above, and she couldn’t wait to explore deeper into the natural wilderness.
They arrived at a beautiful beach house, where everything from food supplies to bed linen had been prepared for them. The staff had already departed, leaving the two of them alone to enjoy the house and the beach.
Emily couldn’t wait to take a dip in the ocean, and they spent the rest of the day swimming in the warm, sun-drenched water.
The next day, they hiked into the forest, bathed under a waterfall, and saw giant turtles on a secluded beach.
In the late afternoon, they relaxed on the sand in front of the house. Emily lounged in a reclining beach chair, a cool blend of fruit juices in her hand, and the sun caressing her skin with its warm rays. Byron sat next to her, his muscular body gleaming with sweat and a newly-acquired tan.
“Well, Mr. Pomeroy,” she said teasingly, “you’re not looking like a pale Vancouverite anymore. I hardly recognize you.”
“Yes, my remarkable tanning ability is one of my many positive features,” he said, grinning back at her.
“I’m not sure what the others are,” she replied.
“Rotten kid,” he grumbled. “At this rate, I might be tempted to throw you in the ocean.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Emily said, unsure of whether he was actually going to try it.
“I would,” he said. She couldn’t see his eyes beneath his sunglasses, but the rest of his face looked serious.
“Then you, sir, are not a gentleman,” she pronounced.
“If you keep talking like that, I’ll definitely throw you.” He got up from his chair and moved towards her.
Emily screamed and ran through the soft sand, sinking with each step. Byron quickly caught up to her and lifted her up in a tight cradling hold. But instead of throwing her in the ocean, he kissed her. He held her for a long time, kissing her lips, and she felt like the happiest woman in the world.
Later that night, Byron unwrapped her beach dress, leaving her almost naked in a string bikini, and kissed her body all over. The bedroom was naturally scented by the flowers outside their window. Breathing in the fragrant, warm air, Emily let go of all her other thoughts, focusing on the pleasure of her senses as her skin tingled with every touch of his lips. She did wonder, though...
“What’s the surprise you had in mind for tomorrow?”
“It’s supposed to be a secret,” Byron murmured, his lips grazing her neck.
“Is it some kind of tropical food?”
“No,” he said, softly biting her ear.
“Is it a unicorn?”
“No.”
She tried to relax his guard by nuzzling his neck and chest.
“An iguana?” she asked.
“Are you trying to use your considerable physical charms to find out the secret?” Byron asked, pretending to be scandalized.
“Maybe,” she said, giggling. “Please tell me.”
“Okay, it’s your favorite country singer. I’ve invited him to give us a private concert.”
“What? I can’t believe it!” Emily uttered a squeal of delight. She had once seen Quinn Faines in concert but never thought she would to have the opportunity to meet him in person! “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
She kissed Byron with even more passion, ravaging his lips with fierce attacks.
“Maybe I should have told you sooner...” he managed to say between kisses.
He gently pulled on the strings of the bikini, and both parts of the swimsuit fell to the floor.
