Chapter twenty four

“Solomon!!” Talia jerked him, afraid of what she had done. Well, what exactly had she done? She couldn’t be involved in two catastrophes and in just one night. Even if the goddess didn’t come back for her throat, Solomon’s pack would. Talia considered what she was to do next. Ask for help or solve it herself. A Fae’s natural talent was healing. Talia had never used her vita in anyone’s favor but she was left with no choice. She peered around the threshold and seeing no one had witnessed anything, She dragged Solomon to a dark corner. Solomon growled when she had taken his legs. At least he was now conscious.

“I don’t feel so good.” He groaned.

“I know,” Talia whispered. “I will try to do something now Solomon. Tell me if it helps.”
A tiny green spark flew off her fingers and landed on Solomon like electric fairy dust. As the tingling sensation worked through his body, Talia noticed the blue slowly shifting to their natural olive. It was working! As Talia’s magic continued to work their healing magic, she heard footsteps coming. She looked up to see the prince walking through the hallway. He seemed oblivious to her presence and Talia vowed to keep it so. The sight in front of her was the complete opposite of the kind advice he had given her earlier. Suddenly, Solomon flung himself away from Talia’s pouring vita. His skin swiftly turned pale and he gave an excruciating pain as his body’s bones snapped. It all happened so quickly that Talia could not tell what she had done wrong but one thing was certain, The commotion had gotten the attention of Prince Denys. The Prince shadowed over her, letting out a worried gasp before immediately throwing the most important question.

“What did you do?”

Talia wished she had the answer to his question. She wished she had a lot of answers to all the mysteries surrounding her life but she didn’t. All she tried to do was help but she had made things worse.

“I don’t know.” Talia coughed, tears welling up her eyes as Solomon’s scream intensified. She was not well versed in the shifter books but she could clearly see what was taking place. Solomon’s wolf wanted to take over. Shifter healed quicker than mortals and a tad slower than vampires and the process was much faster when they were in full animal form. The wolf was trying to salvage whatever damage Talia had done. Her vita was not enough but the problem was it was not a full moon and Solomon was not in possession of a lunar ring. If the transformation was completed, Solomon would either turn insane or be stuck in his shifter form.

“This is not good,” Denys muttered, immediately heaving Solomon over his shoulders and dragging him outside. Talia followed suit, supporting Solomon’s limp side in fireman carry. Denys seemed to know what to do so she did not question what he planned to do. They stopped by the siren pool and Denys slowly laid the werewolf into the healing pool. By the time they arrived, The last girl was gone. With help from Talia, Denys dropped into the pool, holding Solomon who floated over the water like a child being baptized. He was still unconscious. Talia imagined he had passed out from the pain and was probably struggling to regain control.

“What did you do to him exactly?” Denys finally asked.

Talia gave a low laugh despite the situation. It was no laughing matter of course. Not with her only friend’s life hanging on the balance because of something so innocent.

“I do not know. All I did was kiss him.” Talia confessed.

“A kiss…” Denys slurred. He lifted his eyes to Talia as if examining her. He remembered her being pale earlier. Almost like she was drained of her life force. Did she?… Talia noticed the concentration he gave to thinking. It was the kind reserved for hired assassins about to gun down a new target.

“Is there something you think I should know?”

“Do you perhaps come from a succubi bloodline?”

Talia did not mean to be offended but she was freaking weirded out. Of all the hundred possibilities he could come up with.

“No. I come from a pure nature Fae bloodline.”

“So why’d you kiss him?” The prince inquired.

Talia’s eyes locked with him, surprised at his inquiry. If only she knew. But through it all, Talia could not keep it to herself.

“I felt an urge to. There was this choking sensation forcing me too. A wave of distinct emotion. It was why I was angry at you. I think it was also why I wanted to kiss you...”

“You wanted to kiss me?” He interjected, A faint smile appearing on his face.

Talia swore her mouth and actions were her greatest flaws. She barely believed she blurted all that aloud for the Prince to hear. She wondered the many things already racing through his head at the moment. Her cheek reddened.

“Well, I would not have minded it considering it was an urge. You are a demigod. The urges are bound to come and if you are not Succubus. Your father might as well be Eros or perhaps Cupid.”

Talia could tell that was his subtle way of flirting and trying to kill the tension between them. Luckily, it worked. She flashed him a small smile then returned her gaze to Solomon. She noticed the water begin to glow a mystical bluish-green around Solomon. His pale skin once again vanished, replaced by a vibrant olive that shone like a halo reigniting. His limbs seemed to readjust, the scowl he had on vanished and his eyes then flickered open.

“Solomon!” Talia gasped, jumping into the water and hugging him. His face squinted in a blur of pain and confusion when she broke the hug.

“What happened?” Solomon asked, tentatively stretching his limbs. He felt sore all over and his memory seemed to be blank as to why.

Before any of them could answer, He once again descended into a sleep-like state.

“His body is still taking a toll. He needs rest.” Denys informed.

“I will take him to his room.” Talia offered but the sea prince refused.

“Bad idea. His pack members will have tons of questions and you know how possessive they can be with their members. I will help him to his room. You should also go to the bed. It is going to be a big day tomorrow.”

He was right. Shifter packs played the role of dominant boyfriends rather well. One would think they were in a polyamory relationship. Talia hugged the prince, A chaste kind of embrace.

“Thank you.” She whispered. She then climbed up the pool and headed back to the castle walls.

Talia walked straight to the second room where her room was located. Unlike most new citizens of the second realm, She did not share a room and that was because she was not a citizen and more importantly because she was a walking bomb. Reflecting on all the crazy things that had taken place in one night, Talia unlocked the doors to her bedroom, the gritty feel was comforting to her wet fingers. She found her way to the wardrobe and began undressing to get into warmer clothes. The moments the wet gown she was in dropped to the floor, Talia felt a soft whoosh trace her skin. It was sharp like magic. It was magic. She then turned to the bed where the magic energy was rising from and to her surprise, There was a leather-bound book seated atop the mattress.
