Chapter 43 - Strange Sensation
Martha was alone in the chamber. Michael had gone out. She pulled out the box he got from James and opened it.
She looked around again to check if she was alone.
"Oh you Wookah. It is time to rise" she chanted vigorously. There were crackling sounds in the box. It continued for a while and stopped.
"Oh you Wookah, wake up from your deep sleep" she had become angry. The creature should have risen by now.
But all that happened again was just rubble. She pushed the box away from her front furiously and turned away.
"You have a lot of patience than this, does the body of a woman come with this tension?" that was Wookah, the creature speaking to her.
She turned back to face it. She stared at it with anger.
"You are sleeping when I have expected you to find what we need to proceed. If you can't do something as easy as that. Tell me why I should keep feeding you" she blurted out.
"What makes you think I have not carried out my duty? I have found out a lot more than you will in a year" Wookah cried out then broke out laughing hysterically.
"What is it that you have found?" Martha asked eagerly. She was excited. The creature wouldn't say that if it had no reliable piece to offer.
"The Alpha king has an allergy. And that will ease your burden" it laughed wildly again.
"The king should die and the young prince will be the one to blame for it" she said to remind it of their plan.
"Of course, I do not forget any of it. The young prince will take the poison to the king. It is as simple as that" he groaned to urge her to calm down.
"And how am I going to tell him that?" Martha asked again.
"It seemed it is not only your face that was changed to an immature girl. The brain in your head must have changed too" the creature hissed to mock her.
"Answer my question?" Martha threatened.
"You can tell him anyhow you like. His rejection will be blamed on you. Not me" it professed angrily.
"What about the poison?" she asked calmly.
"I'm working on it. It should be ready in few days" Wookah laughed.
"And how many days should I take few days to be?" she asked impatiently. It seemed Wookah didn't take the issue serious as it should.
"Nine to twelve days" Wookah hissed.
"I don't think you are sure of what you are chattering from your mouth. Do I look like I am going to spend nine days here?!" she yelled out of anger.
"Remember, this isn't a poison. It is something that will work against his allergy. I have to be careful" it asserted.
"Whatever it is you are working on. I do not care, all I want is to get something that will work before the next three days" she affirmed sternly.
"Do not worry. I think a palace is more enjoyable than that hellhole and I thought you might want to spend a lot of time here but now thatt you have made it known to me that you love your poor house better. I will make it happen" said Wookah.
Martha was not pleased with the way it was handling this issue. She was extremely angry. She slammed the box close immediately.
"Damn you, it is high time I change you" she muttered.
"No. It is high time you change your look" Wookah screamed from inside the box.
Martha was a little bit scared. It was supposed to have left immediately she shut the box.
"How come you are still in there?" she asked anxiously.
"I think I am adapting or let us say the palace is a wonderful place" Wookah laughed.
Wookah was becoming more powerful. It was obvious it would be one day. But it was not expected to be this time.
Martha went deep in thought about it. She wanted to discover what might have happened.
"Quentin, do not bother yourself. Or should I call you Martha. I told you the palace is a wonderful place" Wookah laughed.
"So you can see me from inside there?" Martha wanted to be sure.
"Yes. I see everything" Wookah said in a way that would hurt her.
It was worse more than she thought. She quickly open the box. She was surprised. There was nothing in the box.
She wondered if she had been hearing its voice in her head.

"I'm a bit skeptical about Martha. She just doesn't seem like she needed to be here. She wanted to be here" the Alpha King whined.
Queen Teresa couldn't understand what he meant. She didn't even know what to reply him with.
"Or what do you think?" he joined her where she was sitting.
"What I thought is you are overthinking to the extent that you say incoherent words" Queen Teresa replied. She still didn't understand what he was insinuating.
"She said she was attacked, she didn't want to be taken home but stay here. It seems she actually came here for Michael" he opened up.
"Yes, she came here for Michael. What will she gain from that?" she inquired. She would have agreed with him but there seemed nothing like a motive for her actions.
"Only Martha knows what she wants. We shouldn't let our guards down" he warned.
"I thought you were preparing to sleep just now. Has the issue of Martha deprived you of that?" she asked eagerly.
"Yes. I wanted to sleep. I should be sleeping by now but I couldn't, for a reason" he acknowledged.
"Martha. That is the only reason" Queen Teresa grumbled.
"No. I saw you sitting here. You are not ready to sleep. Shouldn't that bother me?" he smiled at her.
"I just can't get the sleep right now. I will join you immediately I feel the urge, to sleep" she explained.
"People don't just stay awake at night. There is always a reason. Just let it out and you will see the sleep riding all over your body" he must have thought she was bothered.
Queen Teresa stared at him and smiled subtly. She was worried about Michael but it was because of James.
After the Alpha King had praised Michael for winning the war. James had become more quiet and reserved and that only meant danger to her.
Michael was in trouble. James obviously had something ready for him, to hurt him. Michael was careless and overconfident. He wouldn't see anything wrong or suspect anything.
"Is there something you can still keep from me?" the Alpha King had surely noticed Queen Teresa keeping her worries to herself.
"There is nothing to tell, Henry" she rubbed him on the shoulder.
She couldn't say any of it to him. Though the Alpha King promised her Michael would be king after him. But that was a long time ago.
He might have changed his mind. And James had also become more engrossed in attaining the throne.
"Really? what is written on your face is different from what spills from your mouth" he smiled. He wanted her to realize he knew her lies.
"You can go to bed. I will join you once I am ready" she assured him. She wanted him away from her side.
"I also lost my sleep. I think we might be like this till dawn" he laughed.
"Okay" she stood up and reach for his hand to pull him up. "Let's go and get our eyes shut" she uttered playfully.
"No, I am not going anywhere unless you share the burden on your mind" the Alpha King insisted.
"Really?" she flashed her eyebrow. "I am just worried about what just befell us. That was how we would have ended if we have not been lucky" she fabricated.
"You are worried about something that had gone, a war that we have defeated?" he asked in disbelief.
"Yes. We have won. What if they strike again? I kept having this feeling that something is not right" she said slowly with fright.
"Something is not right. I have the feeling too. But it isn't what you think. The only thing that is odd in this palace is Martha and I am very sure of that" he asserted undoubtedly.
"Martha is just a young girl. You shouldn't imagine her in such bad light" Queen Teresa disagreed. As far as she was concerned, Martha was not the threat. It was James, the perpetrator of the just concluded war.
And if he could orchestrate something like that. What he would do next would be deadlier and horrible.
"We just need to be extra careful. Many a kingdoms have been fallen by women, young ladies but I am sure if we keep our eyes wide open with our ears. And we are at alert. We will stop any adversity before it begins" he said assuringly.
"You know that is all I need to get some sleep. Now sleep is riding all over my body" she dragged him up from his seat and they both scampered to the bed.
