Chapter 50 - Realm Roamer

"I want you to tell me about the box" Julia asked eagerly.

She had come back to visit Rachel. She thought trying to expose Martha's true identity might take time which she didn't have.

"We had a discussion and we made a conclusion. You are not okay with that anymore?" Rachel was obviously surprised by her eagerness.

"That is going to take time" she replied quickly. "And time is not something I possess in excess" she buttressed.

"Going after the box and the creature in it simply means biting more than you can chew" Rachel was still holding on to what she told her earlier.

"You know me better than anyone, Mother" Julia smiled. "I don't usually cut my coat according to my size" she clapped her hands once.

"This isn't like anything you have known before. It surpasses all the little tricks of learning the language of mice" Rachel reminded her.

"And why shouldn't I try something new. I am very sure you know a lot about that box and the talking creature. Let me put an end to this" she paused briefly to catch her attention. "With your help" she added softly.

Rachel was just trying to denounce witchcraft but Julia believed that wouldn't be possible. No one could change what they were meant to be.

"I won't help you to ruin yourself. I won't assist your journey to doom" she replied furiously.

Julia realized she would have to do a lot of mouth work to convince Rachel to help her in this.

"Mother, I will take full responsibility for my action. Leaving this issue like you advised is going to turn out worse than you can imagine" she appealed to her.

"So Julia is saving the world now?" she chuckled to make jest of her. "Once a kingdom is bound to fall, there is nothing you can do to stop that and if a kingdom would keep existing, there is no attack that will put it into extinction" she opposed.

"I am not arguing with you. But I am not one of those who can keep calm, fold their hands and expect prophecy to realize itself" Julia chuckled.

"Just please, this once. And I will never bother you again" she begged.

"You do not seem to understand. I don't want to involve myself in this practice anymore. I want to put it behind me" she repealed.

"Giving me some clues do not go against that" she replied.

"If all you want is clues, then I will give you something" she agreed finally.

Julia face beamed with smile. She was going to get what she needed.

"I need nothing more than that" she moaned happily.

"There is a book. I kept it away somewhere. I have vowed never to set my eyes on it ever again" Rachel shook her head.

She was not ready to forget witchcraft with all her heart, Julia thought. She would have burnt the book if she was serious about it instead of keeping it away.

It was favorable for Julia right as she had not gotten it burned.

"Can I see it?" Julia whispered.

"Of course,I am the one that vowed not you" she brightened her mind by the words.

"I think I will be going on a journey" Julia assumed. If she had kept it away not to see it anymore. It would be very far to the kingdom.

"Yes. But it isn't that kind of journey. It us a trip to another realm" she disclosed.

Julia presumed that was going to be hard. She had never tried anything like that before and if Rachel was not going to help her. She was sure she wouldn't be able to do it.

"There is no way I will lay my hands on that" she opened up.

Rachel was just trying to get her off her back. She should have known she wouldn't be able to go after it.

"Why?" she asked sarcastically.

"I am not journeying to another realm" she made clear. She was surprised to see Rachel laughing out loud at her.

"How is that funny to you?" she asked in amazement.

"If you don't have the courage to travel between realms, it will be better to avoid a face off with a sorcerer" she continued laughing.

"Is the traveling between realms meant to scare me off?" she thought that was the reason behind her laughter.

"No. You will have to make the journey" she said again.

Julia had gotten what she wanted. The book must be in existence. All she needed is finding it.

"What does the book look like?" she asked.

"You don't need to know that as you are not....." Rachel stopped.

"No. I am going after it" she interrupted her.

****************

Julia waited for Michael at the hallway. She knew he would come by her before he would get to his room.

"I want to talk to you" she said quickly as he approached her.

"Come in then" he replied casually without slowing down.

"I can't come in. We should discuss it here" she answered immediately.

"We should not be talking like this in the open. You ought to know that" he warned her in low pitched voice.

"There is nothing wrong with it if we keep it in the master talking to his maid level" she gloated and gasped.

"So what is this about?" he asked like he had no choice than to succumb to her.

Julia didn't want to go in to his chamber. Apart from not wanting Martha to hear what she had to say. She couldn't stand her since she had discovered she was an imposter.

"Martha want to kill the king. She is going to give you some poison to rub on your body and the King will die and you will be blamed for it" she explained as well as she could.

"Listen to yourself, Julia" he turned away for a break, he sighed and turned back to her. "Rub a poison on me to kill the king. And what will happen to me?" he asked sarcastically. He was obviously thinking Julia was not making sense.

"You will be blamed for your father's death" she said hastily.

"I mean what will happen to me when I rub the poison on myself? If my father could be killed from something rubbed on my body. What will happen to me, the owner of the body?" he rephrased his question for her. He definitely wanted her to say something that would prove her wrong.

"I don't know" she said remorsefully

"You are defaming your intuition in my mind. I hold you in high esteem and believe you are reliable but you are just like every other woman. The air of jealousy is blowing you apart" he commented and shook his head.

"Just believe me, Michael" Julia cried.

"I told you not to talk about her unless you have proof" he pressed his lips together as he tried recollecting.

"She gave you a vial. The smell is enough to tell you it is something bad but you choose to be blind to it. Think deep, Michael" she urged him more.

"So it was you. That was what you came for in the night. She gave me something out of love and you came to steal it in my chamber. I have been thinking I misplaced it all this while" Michael grumbled. He covered his mouth with a clenched fist.

"You don't need to use it. All she told you were lies" she declared.

"What did she tell me?" Michael asked and calmed himself in eagerness to hear what she would say.

"I don't know but I'm sure they were lies" she replied.

"How could you say they were lies when you don't even know it, Julia?" she challenged her.

"She is not who you think she is. She is not Martha. Please just listen to me" she begged.

"If she is not Martha, who is she?" he was just becoming harder for Julia to convince.

"I will show you if you will help me to show you" she requested.

"How will I do that?" he asked.

"That box, there is a creature in it. Just....." she was not allowed to say that completely.

"Shut up. Just shut up Julia. I think I have given you enough privilege. And you misused that by coming into my chamber and stealing. Where is the vial?" he stretched out his hand to take it from her.

"I lost it" Julia groaned.

"You have prove to me that you are nothing but a thief, a bottom-feeder. I will let this slide but if you try anything like that again. I will see to your end" he asserted sharply and turned to go.

Julia was very sad. She was staring at the ground. She was the one he was hating instead of the woman going after him and his father.

He wouldn't listen unless he had seen proof as he had requested. Julia knew instantly she had to find them at all costs even if it was to journey between realms.
