Chapter21

It has been two weeks since Ava had started her school and as expected Ava is becoming
more active nowadays.
She is expressing more, be it happiness, sadness or anger.
Which reminded Janani about the incident which happened a week ago.
****
Armaan was sitting on the living room floor playing with Ava and Advi and a set of building
blocks.
Armaan being the number one in the construction field was making a perfect house with that.
Ava pulled out blocks from the already made house making Armaan frown and started
joining the pieces randomly according to her wish.
"Ava, baby ,that's not how it is done" he said, taking it back from her to place it back where it
was previously set.
Ava did not like it and pushed the entire house, making Armaan stunned at her reaction.
"Ava?? Why did you do that??" He asked, still stunned at the way Ava behaved.
Because if it was Advi he wouldn't be surprised.
But Ava was always calm.
Ava started crying loudly thinking that Armaan was scolding her making him tensed.
"Ava, baby don't cry" he said pulling her into his lap only for her to push him away.
Armaan looked helplessly at Janani who was watching the scene.
"Ava..." Armaan called again and Ava picked up a block and threw it at him wailing loudly
"Ava, that's not how you behave with your dada" Janani said sternly, holding Ava's both
hands in hers.
"Ava, look at me" she looked up with big fat tears rolling down her cheeks.
Janani is a well trained nursery teacher and she knows when a child is crying what is the
feeling behind it.
And Janani could clearly see Ava is not crying because she is sad.
Ava is crying because she is angry for some reason, probably because her father was
making the house instead of letting her do that.
"Ava, say sorry to dada" Janani said sternly
"No, that's okay. There is no need to say sorry. I am her father after all" Armaan quipped in
not wanting to make his daughter sad anymore that she already is.
Janani sighed.
"It is needed, Armaan. We should teach them right from childhood what is right and what is
wrong. Ava should know what she did now is wrong and she should learn to apologise when
she does something wrong" Janani said, making Armaan frown.
He didn't understand why Janani is making a big deal out of this.
All that mattered to him is that his daughter is sad and she was crying and he doesn't want to
add to that hurt.
"Ava, say sorry" Janani prompted making Ava look up at Armaan.
"Sorry dada" she said softly and Armaan smiled and picked her in his arms and gave her a
big kiss on her cheeks.
That night once the babies were down for the night Janani was so happy and Armaan didn't
understand it.
His daughter was sad and she was crying and Janani was happy.
"Why are you so happy??" Armaan asked
"Didn't you see what Ava did today??" She asked excitedly
"She was sad and she was crying .Why would you be so happy at that??" He asked
"She wasn't sad Armaan. She was angry. And she wasn't crying because she was sad. She
was throwing a tantrum. One week at school and she has started expressing her feelings"
Janani said happily
Tantrum??
That was a temper tantrum??
How could he not understand??
Will she do it again since Janani scolded her??
"You made her say sorry. That would stop her from expressing again" Armaan said frowning.
Janani rolled her eyes.
"Once a child starts throwing tantrums nothing would stop them. They will continue to do so
whenever they are angry or upset. The only thing we could do is control their behaviour to an
extent" she said and Armaan looked at her in wonder
"How do you know so much about children??" He asked
"I am a trained teacher from Armaan. I am trained in everything related to a child. Child
psychology was one of my subjects and that helps me understand their moods and
behaviour" Janani said
"What else did you learn about children??" He asked simply making conversations
"Oh anything and everything about children. About medical emergencies in case something
happens to the child while at school and we are trained to give first aid" she said
****
"Janani?? Where are you lost??" She came back from her thoughts when Aadesh called out
for her.
"Oh I was just thinking about Ava" Janani said
"She has changed a lot in the last two weeks" Aadesh mused
"Interaction with other children helps," Janani said, picking up the seeds she had brought
from the agricultural office yesterday.
Ava and Advi are having their afternoon nap and this would be perfect time for her to tend to
the kitchen garden she started making here.
"Going somewhere??" Aadesh asked seeing the things in Janani's hand
"Backyard. Aadesh, just check in on Ava and Advi in between okay. Call me if necessary. Let
me just plant them when they are sleeping" she said walking out to the backyard
"I will. Maan would be returning today. I called him in the morning." Aadesh said and Janani's
ears perked up hearing his name.
He has been out of station for the last week. Some emergency in their Delhi branch needed
his attention. He calls every night to talk to Ava and Advi and she would be a peripheral
presence which leads to a light conversation between them.
Though she is happy that he is away and she didn't have to worry about the doubts he
raised that day ,a small part of her missed having him around.
**An hour later**
"Look who is here" she looked up from her position to see Aadesh walking towards her with
Ava in his arms.
"Ava baby is up??" Janani stood up at the same time Aadesh placed her on the ground.
Ava came running towards Janani and threw herself at Janani.
She heard Aadesh's phone ringing and he excused himself and walked aside to take up the
call.
"Jaan doing what??" Ava asked
"Jaan is gardening. Ava wants to do??" Janani asked to which Ava nodded excitedly
Janani made Ava squat in front of a pit she had already dug for planting the seeds
Holding Ava's hands she made her do everything.
Once done she cleaned Ava's hands and legs off the mud and turned around to clean
herself.
"Aahhh" Janani turned around as she heard Ava screaming
She looked down to see Ava crying and rubbing a spot on her arms furiously
"Ava, baby, what happened??" She asked scared to hell
"Hurting" Ava pointed at a spot on her hands where it appeared to be stung.
Suddenly Ava started developing rashes on her skin and Janani's heart rate picked up.
"Aadesh!! Aadesh!!" Janani screamed for help and saw both Aadesh and Armaan running
towards her.
"What happened to her??" Armaan asked frantically.
Janani felt the heaving weight of Ava on her arms and realized that she was losing
consciousness.
And she is not breathing properly.
"Ava, baby wake up" she tried patting Ava's cheeks
"What is wrong?? What happened??" Came the question again
"Call the paramedics. Immediately "
Janani with all her willpower remembered all the things she learned during her college and
realised Ava is having an allergic reaction.
Most probably a bee sting allergy and she is going into an anaphylactic shock.
She laid Ava down on the ground on her sides to clear her airway.
"Armaan, please get Ava's medical reports ready!!" Janani asked in between
"Why?? What happened??"
"Do as I say Armaan, please "
"She doesn't have one. She was perfectly alright until now" he said helplessly
"Was Ava's mother allergic to anything??" She asked, elevating Ava's legs a bit as she
remembered learning something like that.
They heard the sound of the ambulance and the paramedics came running.
"What do we have here??"
"Bee stung allergy I think" Janani said
She saw them giving Ava a shot of adrenaline immediately after checking for symptoms and
making sure Janani's diagnosis is right.
"We need to take her to the hospital" the paramedics informed
"Ofcourse" she said, as they placed Ava on a stretcher and took her to the ambulance.
Janani and Armaan followed them not before Armaan asked his brother to collect the
medical history.
"Aadesh, contact Ishana's sister and ask her to come to the hospital immediately"
