Chapter 12

Earl walked briskly into ma'am Dodda's room. He was in a hurry. He heard that ma'am Dodda was awake and he came to see her immediately.

He was happy that he did not put his trust in Nellie for nothing. She really did save ma'am Dodda.

When he entered the room, he noticed that there was a twisted expression on Astrid's face. She seemed happy that ma'am Dodda was finally awake. But she also seemed like she could not believe that the person who had saved her is the young woman that she actually looked down on.

Earl did not care about this small detail though. He just wanted to see ma'am Dodda.

"Ma'am Dodda!" Earl called, hurrying over to her side.

Ma'am Dodda tried to get up but she was still weak so she could only lie down back on the bed.

Earl stopped her. "You don't have to get up ma'am Dodda. You are still weak" Earl said.

Ma'am Dodda smiled and laid back on the bed. "Your highness!" Ma'am Dodda called. Even though she was still sick, she still had to pay her respects to the leader of the pack.

"Ma'am Dodda, it's good that you are awake now," Earl said. Ma'am Dodda is the one who had raised him since he was a child. He had a lot of respect for her. To some extent, he even treated her as his mother. He won't be happy if anything happens to her.

"Your highness, thank you for saving my life," Ma'am Dodda said. She knew that she was able to pull through this probably because Earl put in a lot of effort.

"No ma'am Dodda. I should be the one thanking you. Thank you for saving our lives" Earl said.

Ma'am Dodda nodded. She still remembered the events that happened that day. She got hurt because she was trying to save that girl.

"Where is she now?" Ma'am Dodda asked.

Earl knew that she was asking about Nellie. He smiled. "You don't have to worry. She is fine in the castle!" Earl said. Right now, he has to make sure to save the life of Nellie. She is a vital part of his plan. He knows that Ina won't just let it rest if she knows that there is another wolf in the castle right now. She had always been a jealous woman. Even though she already ran away with a rogue, she would still hope that he will continue to have feelings for her. That woman Ina always wants herself to be the center of attention.


He still has to use Nellie to draw out Ina and Tony from whichever hole that they were hiding in right now.

Astrid saw that she was ignored and she didn't feel good about it at all. "Your highness, ma'am Dodda was really lucky. She was able to pull through this safely!" Astrid said. She said this because she did not want to accept that it was that wolf who saved ma'am Dodda. She didn't want to admit that Nellie had some real ability.

Earl turned over to look at Astrid. He knew that she could not accept that there is someone who is better than her at healing now. He was planning to ignore her antics but she was really starting to get on his nerves. Nellie had saved ma'am Dodda, the person who is most important to him. He felt like he was indebted to her. He won't let anyone undermine the things that she has done for ma'am Dodda.

"I'm sure that you know the reason why ma'am Dodda was able to wake up so soon, Astrid," Earl said.

"Your highness…" Astrid called out in fear. From the look in his eyes, Astrid could tell that she had pissed him off.

"Your highness…I just don't think that she could have helped much" Astrid said. She really didn't want to accept that she was so good.

"Really? She just got lucky? You are telling me that ma'am Dodda's life was saved based on luck? You had all that luck but you could not save her! You said that ma'am Dodda has already lost a lot of blood and she was old and there was no way that you would be able to save her life! Nellie was the one who was ready to risk everything to save her life! How can you undermine all of her efforts like this? Do you really think that ma'am Dodda had been saved based on luck?" Earl asked. He was so angry.

Nellie did everything that she could to save ma'am Dodda and just because Astrid seems to be a little jealous she is undermining her efforts.

"I'm really sorry your Highness. I seem to have said something wrong!" Astrid said. She was feeling bitter in her heart, but she did not dare to talk out loud. She knew that she was going to be in a lot of trouble if the leader of the pack decided to punish her.

"Your highness, what is the healer talking about?" Ma'am Dodda butted into the conversation.

It seems that it wasn't the healer who saved her?

Ma'am Dodda thought that it was Astrid who had worked hard to save her life because she is the first person that she saw when she opened her eyes.

"Ma'am Dodda, it was Nellie who saved your life" Earl told ma'am Dodda the truth.

He could not see it but Astrid held her fists tightly together. She was unhappy. She knew they ma'am Dodda had misunderstood her as the person who saved her life but she did not try to correct her because she was trying to take the credit for saving her life.

But what Earl just said took the chance away from her. She wasn't happy! She wasn't happy at all.

Seems like she had to find a way to teach Nellie a lesson…..

"What do you mean your highness?" Ma'am Dodda asked. She was confused.

Just then, the door was pushed open and someone dashed into the room.

"Ma'am Dodda !" She called out. There was some excitement in her voice.

Ma'am Dodda turned to look at the person who dashed into the room. She remembered her as the female wolf that Earl saved!

"Ma'am Dodda! You are finally awake!" Nellie said walking over to Ma'am Dodda's side

Earl's lips curled up into a smile as he saw Nellie walk over to Ma'am Dodda. He had his eyes on her all the time. He did not even notice that he was smiling happily at Nellie.

However, Astrid could see it. She saw Earl smile happily at Nellie. She saw that he had his eyes on her all the time. She had a bad feeling..

It can't be that…the leader is starting to fall for this wolf who no one knows where she comes from right ?

No! This can't be possible!

She can't let Earl fall in love with some other wolf!

Astrid was the happiest person when Ina left with the rogues. She had always liked Earl and she had always been trying to get closer to her. Since Ina was already out of the picture, she felt that she would be the next person to become Earl's Luna. She can't let some unknown wolf take that position away from her! She has to do something to make sure that she doesn't stand in her way!

"Ma'am Dodda, Nellie is the one who saved you! She went to the forest to look for leaves that she could use to make some medicine for you!" Earl said.

Ma'am Dodda's eyes lit up when she heard that. It was Nellie who saved her. Nellie was already standing next to the bed that she was lying on. She took Nellie's hand in hers.

"Thank you very much Nellie! For saving my life! If It wasn't for you I don't think that I would have been able to pull through this. I owe my life to you Nellie " ma'am Dodda said. She was really thankful to Nellie..

Nellie shook her head. "You don't need to thank me for this ma'am Dodda. I just did what I was supposed to do! You are the one who saved my life! If it wasn't for you, I don't think that I would have been alive at all! You got stabbed because of me! If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be in such a situation now!" Nellie said. Looking at ma'am Dodda's situation, Nellie was filled with an overwhelming hate for Bella. She is the reason all of these things happened! If she had not framed her and drove her out of the pack, then ma'am Dodda would not have been stabbed because of her..

She used to be the moon goddess of her pack, now she has to rely on Earl if she wants to keep her life.

Ma'am Dodda could see some sadness in her eyes when she talked. She felt sorry for Nellie. She could feel that Nellie had been through a lot.

She really wanted to talk to Nellie alone. She turned to look at Earl.

"Your highness, I want to have a conversation with Nellie. Can you please give the both of us some privacy ?" Ma'am Dodda asked. Even though she was asking, she was sure that he would give the both of them some privacy. After all she is the one who raised Earl. He will grant her wishes as long as he can do it.

Just as she had expected, Earl nodded his head when he saw this.

"Of course Ma'am Dodda" Earl said and walked out.

Since the leader of the pack was already walking out, there was no need for Astrid to remain there. She walked out of the room too.

But she was already thinking of how she was going to make Nellie suffer. She can't let anyone take the position of the Luna of Earl away from her!

Nellie and Ma'am Dodda were alone in the room. Nellie was confused. She didn't know what ma'am Dodda wanted to talk to her about.

"Ma'am Dodda, what do you want to talk about?" Nellie asked. Her palms were already sweating from nervousness.

"Nellie, just how did you end up in the forest alone? I can see that you have a lot of stories that you are not telling. What really happened to you? I don't think that you are a rogue" Ma'am Dodda asked.

"Yes you are right ma'am Dodda. I'm not a rogue" Nellie answered.


"I just knew that you weren't one Nellie! So what happened to you? What were you doing in the forest by yourself?" Ma'am Dodda asked.

Nellie sighed. She really liked ma'am Dodda. She felt more comfortable talking to her. Besides, she already told Earl all about what happened to her.

She knew that if ma'am Dodda really wanted to find out about what happened to her, she would just have to ask Earl and she would know.


"Ma'am Dodda, I used to be the moon goddess of my pack. However, I was framed by my best friend Bella. I have the gift to make medicine out of leaves. But Bella told all the elders that I am a witch and that is how I was banished out of the pack. I used to be the moon goddess but Bella made me lose everything" Nellie said. She felt really hurt by what Bella had done to her. She treated Bella as a real friend but she betrayed her and kicked her out of the pack.

Ma'am Dodda felt angry on behalf of Nelly. "What ?! How can there be someone who is so evil? How can your friend do that to you?" Ma'am Dodda asked.

"I treated her as a friend but she never treated me as a friend from the beginning. She kicked me out of the pack and as if that wasn't enough, she sent some rogues that she had trained after me. She wanted to take my life, '' Nellie said.
