Chapter 20
Emily's POV
"I'll knock his face off!" Evan, my twin brother, exclaimed when I told the family who was responsible for my pregnancy.
Everyone was gathered in the living room, drilling me with unnecessary questions as if the child was going to be born into poverty. I had more than enough money to give this child everything and anything his or her tiny heart desire.
"You're not going to do that Evan," I defended.
"He knocked up my baby sister and you think I—"
I didn't let him finish, I had had enough of his bickering and input. "JUST STOP! You're not going to do anything to him. I'm not in high school anymore Evan. I'm twenty six. I'm a woman and I don't need anyone fighting my battles for me because there isn't a battle to fight. This baby will be loved and spoiled in the best of ways, and I really don't need a man to do that."
"Emily, you can't do this on your own," my mother let out.
"I can and I will," I said as I slumped.
Sebastian hung up the cellphone when I broke the news to him. I tried calling him back but it would go straight to voicemail every time. I broke into silent tears that everyone caught. My brother threw his arm around me.
"Look, we're a family and we've always admire you. You've never let us down, and this baby is going to be raised by every one of us. Right everyone?"
"Of course," my mom, dad and younger brother, EJ, answered in unison.
"Sir, please excuse me but there's someone here to see Miss Emily," one of my father's security guards said as he walked into the room.
I looked at my wrist watch. I wasn't expecting anyone. "Who is it?"
"A young man," he replied.
"Send him in," my father commanded and the guard left to do so.
Sebastian walked in.
My heart danced around my chest and did somersaults of happiness. He was here, in my parents house, right in front of me. I slowly peeled myself off the chair, wiping away the last bit of tears.
"Sebastian, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"Hello everyone. I needed to see you, Emily," he responded and reached out and pulled me into his arms.
"Aww, that's so sweet. Let's give them some privacy," my mom said and dragged the others out of the room with her.
Sebastian allowed me to sit and he sat down right next to me, not taking his eyes off my stomach. He then placed his hand there with a wide smile on his face. I was not expecting his reaction to be like this.
"Are you happy?" I asked him.
He nodded his head yes, hand still on my stomach. I laughed lightly.
"Emily, when you told me that you are pregnant, you caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting it to be about a baby. I thought you had found someone else and moved on and you were calling to let me know that it was completely over between you and I, although we're a complicated case because of the whole royalty thing."
"How are we going to do this Sebastian? Your father would—"
"To hell with what he thinks and says. He won't be able to do anything about this. I wouldn't put my own baby on a back burner to please my father or anyone else. I want you to move back with me. My father is going to know about this baby and see that my heart wants you.
"I've been stupid Emily. I tried giving Naomi and fair chance, but my heart doesn't want her. I want you. I need you. I can't stop thinking about you and it hurt when you left without a single goodbye."
"Oh Sebastian." I planted a kiss on his cheek but he pulled me to his lips instead.
His soft tongue parted my lips and I let out a moan when his tongue intertwined with mine. I left at ease and all the worries had washed away. Sebastian made everything better.
The next day, he and I boarded his private jet back to Conovia. After our landing, he drove us straight to the palace and I rocked with fear when I saw his father standing at the main entrance with a nasty scowl on his face.
Sebastian took my hand into his and we walked towards the entrance. "Father," he said as we stopped in his presence.
"Sebastian, haven't you embarrassed this palace enough?"
I knew he was referring to me.
"I'm not going to get into this with you right now, but I wanted you to know that you're going to be a grandfather." Sebastian held onto my hand again as we walked past him and entered the foyer. "Are you hungry?" he asked me.
"Very much."
We headed into the kitchen, all eyes opening wider and wider as they watched us, and Sebastian seemed to be enjoying the attention.
On the way to his bedroom we ran into Naomi. Her eyes popped when she saw us together and she stopped in her path.
"This has to be a joke," she said, but she didn't get a respond from him or from me. We pretended like she didn't even exist, and I was suddenly enjoying this.
After the meal, Sebastian and I sat down on the balcony, enjoying the evening air when his bedroom door was kicked in and his father and several guards walked in.
"Father, what's the meaning of this?" Sebastian laced as he stood up, shielding me.
"She's pregnant?" He pointed a finger at me.
"Yes, with my baby," Sebastian answered with a serious look on his face.
"I wish I had another son. You're nothing but a disappointment! You were to marry a princess and create a family with her, but you got into bed with a commoner and got her pregnant! And you have the audacity to parade her in my palace like she's a prize. What the hell is the matter with you?"
"She's everything to me, and I'm not afraid to let the whole country know that."
"So help me God, Sebastian, she's not welcome here after this, and if you've got a problem with that, you can leave with her because I'm on the verge of disowning you and taking everything away from you and handing it over to your cousin."
"YOU CAN'T!" Sebastian shouted; it was the loudest I'd ever heard him.
"Just watch me," the King said and left.
Sebastian heaved a loud sigh and turned to me with a sad expression.
"It's okay. I was expecting this," I said to calm him.
"This is so like my father, but for him to hand over everything to David is beyond him!"
My heart sank at the mere mentioned of David. I knew a David.
"I guess it's true what they say about pretty girls, they really are damaged goods." David's voice echoed in the back of my mind.
Thinking back, he and Sebastian did possess similar features and it was the only thing that drew me to David.
I slept with Sebastian's cousin.
