Chapter 22
Emily's POV
I left the restroom and caught Sebastian just in time before his fist collided with David's face. Sebastian already had him pinned up against the wall by his throat, but I moved between them, trying to use myself to calm the murderous tension. He released David, who started gasping for air and clenching his chest.
Sebastian had snapped. I'd never seen that angry side of him, and I was to be blamed for him acting in that kind of matter. I hated family drama and the unfriendly atmosphere it can cause, but I knew that when David walked in the room, that he wouldn't be able to control his emotions because I had hurt him when I called off everything with him and he was not expecting that to happen.
A loud scene erupted: Sebastian, David and King. I ran back to the bathroom and cried my eyes out and to hide myself because I was so ashamed. The door pushed in and a happy looking princess walked in.
"You know, people with common lives are always full of drama, and you've managed to bring it here. Just face it Emily, you don't belong here. and you're not fit to be by Sebastian's side." She had a look of satisfaction on her face, and in her eyes, as she stood in front of me.
"I bet Sebastian wouldn't agree with that," I said and turned to the mirror so I could clean my face off.
"Oh please, you slept with his cousin. Family means everything for a kingdom, and you drove a wedge between them."
"They already had problems before me. I'm partially to blame."
"You're the whole cause of this ruckus happening outside because you popped your legs open for his own cousin. There's nothing ladylike about you, and maybe your mother raised you to be a—"
"Say another other word about my mother, I dare you." I was already in her face. When it came to my mother's name, I couldn't careless who it was, and her being a princess didn't make a difference to me.
She took two step backwards from fear, but that mouth of hers wouldn't shut. "Do you really think that Sebastian is going to choose you over me now and get married to you?"
"He would. He loves me!"
"HAHAHAHAHA!" She laughed hysterically.
"And his baby," I finished and all her laughter came to an abrupt stop.
Her face drained as it dawned on her that I was here for a reason and she had no weight over me because, as she said, family means everything to a kingdom, and there was no way on earth that Sebastian would neglect his child to please her or anyone else.
"Yeah, well, we'll just see about that," she said with a sour look and left the bathroom.
I shook my head at her pathetic attempt to intimidate me. Nice try Princess.
_______
It was three days later when I found Sebastian on his balcony, reeking of an apple flavored Vodka.
His eyes gazed at the lawn and surroundings as he sat in complete silence, sipping from the bottle every ten seconds as if programmed to do so. He had given me the cold shoulder and kept an odd distance, and to make matters even worse, we had separate rooms because it was the King's orders.
"Seb," I broke the silence.
He turned to me with a low sigh and droopy red eyes. "What?"
"You need to stop this."
"Stop what, drinking my worries away? The woman my heart desires slept with my rival cousin. If it was the other way around," he twirled his index finger in the air, "how would you feel?"
He was drunk. His speech and twirling finger said it all.
"Seb, I understand that, but you also have to understand that this happened before I even knew you were here. I wish I could go back in time and change everything." I dropped to his level and tried to put my arms around him but he brushed them away.
"Just leave me alone, Emily. It hurts." He took another mouthful of the devilish alcohol before setting it down on a small table beside him.
I used that opportunity to snatch it away.
"HEY!" He tried to get it back but I tossed it into the bedroom and it rolled underneath the bed.
"You need to stop because this isn't going to help you. Get some rest Sebastian, and I'll talk to you in the morning."
He allowed me to take his hand, and I guided him into his bedroom and onto his bed. "It hurts because I care so much about you," he mumbled, but I heard what he said clearly.
He got underneath the covers and I watched him fall asleep in perfect peace before returning to my own bedroom.
The next morning, I woke up with morning sickness. After five minutes of vomiting and spitting, I made my way to find Sebastian, hoping that he wasn't hungover and that his senses were now back intact. But as I approached his bedroom, Princess Naomi was making her way out of it.
