Chapter 28

Sebastian's POV

Creeping out of her bedroom wasn't on my list of things to do. I watched as she slept peacefully, loose strands of hair covering almost a quarter of her face. Her chest rose and fell with every breath she took, and she made soft snoring sounds.

My hand landed gently on her stomach with the image of having a bouncing baby with her. I didn't care if it was going to be a boy or a girl, as long as it was with Emily. Hell, at one point, I didn't care if I was going to be the father. I would have adopted him or her and been a family with Emily.

An idea crossed my mind at that very moment, and I quickly got up from the bed and freshened up in my own room. Afterwards, I went to seek out my father. I found him in his office with a frown looking Naomi.

"Good morning Father, good morning Naomi." I still had the decency to acknowledge her.

She smiled at me right before leaping onto me and embracing my frame in a rather tight hug.

"Let go of him," my father told her.

"No, I will not!" she almost screamed back.

Using my strength, I removed her arms from around me. "What's all this about?" I asked my father.

"I'm sending her back to her country, but she doesn't want to leave. There's no reason for her to stay, is there?"

"No, there isn't," I answered.

"I'm not leaving! My mother will hear of this! I came here to marry Sebastian and unify my country with yours. This was the plan from the very beginning. How dare the both of you go back on your word! I'll let everyone know that your word means nothing. It's worthless!"

Naomi stormed out of the room, slamming my father's door after her exit.

"She's a fierce one. I can't believe I actually wanted you to get married to her," my father said with a chuckle.

"People's true colors eventually show Dad, but I didn't come here to talk about Naomi. I came to ask you something, and I hope you'll grant it to me."

I was nervous. My father was a very unpredictable man and I didn't want to get on his bad side anytime soon.

"And what's that?"

"I want to ask Emily to marry me."

Emily's POV

"Sebastian? Are you here?" I looked around the bedroom for Sebastian but he was nowhere in sight.

I heaved a sigh and went into the bathroom to take my morning shower. I brushed my teeth. Once I was finished, I got dressed in a pair of pants and a long-sleeved blouse. I combed my hair from the messy bun and applied some lip balm to my dry lips. I put on a sneakers because I felt like going for a walk after breakfast. I left my room and made my way to the large stairs.

"Oh my, my, my, beautiful Sunday. This is my, my, my, beautiful day, when you say, say, say..." I was sang.

"Say that you love me, oh, my, my, my, it's a beautiful day," another voice finished.

I turned around and spotted Naomi. Of all the people in this massive castle, she just had to be the first person that I ran into.

"I loved that song. My mother always used to sing it every Sunday," she went on and started circling me like a shark would its prey.

"Why are you even talking to me?"

"I really thought that slap would've left a mark."

"And you're bragging about it? Where did that get you exactly? Sebastian got to hate you even more, and rumors have it that the King is kicking you out of his palace, so congrats on winning nothing and no one in your favor!"

"I hate you so much!" she yelled.

"I don't care. I'm not here for you to like me. We're not friends. As long as Sebastian and our baby love me, that's all that matters."

Her face turned red, her nostrils flared and she looked like she was about to break into a fit.

Without giving her anymore attention, I turned away.

"DON'T YOU DARE WALK AWAY FROM ME!" she yelled from behind me and I felt the tug of my ponytail by her hand.

I swayed backwards and her arms went around my neck. I struggle to break free from her hold, feeling my airway being blocked.

"This will teach you to stay away from Sebastian! He's mine! Why can't you understand that you bitch?!"

I was struggling to break free. Naomi was strong, I'll give her that.

I felt my body being dragged but I used my feet to kick her away. We were right at the stairs, scuffling like two kids— Naomi trying to pin me and me trying to kick her between the eyes. I succeeded.

I quickly picked myself up to head down the steps to find Sebastian or a body guard, but as soon as I reached the very first step, I felt a very strong push on my back, and the next thing I knew, I was tumbling over the stairs. My head hit against the banister on the way down. My mind was only concerned about my life and the one inside of me, but all thoughts left when I hit the bottom.

I smelled the fresh scent of blood and everything went dark.
