Chapter 57 By Chance

Dan noticed her melancholy and put his hands in his pockets. "May I walk with you?"
"No need, I'm ready to go back," she said.
He was wearing a loose floral shirt, with fair skin and a youthful air that didn't give off a frivolous vibe. "Where is your hotel?"
Maggie didn't answer.
"I don't mean anything by it. Since you're here, being unhappy would be a waste of such a beautiful scenery and moment." Dan looked around and gestured towards a direction. "Have you ever had Baileys? It's a light and mild liquor. Let me treat you."
She hesitated. "Is it okay?"
There were a group of people sitting around a camping folding table nearby. Maggie recognized a few of them.
They were employees of City TV. They were here on a business trip, recording shows and conducting interviews during the day, and only had time to gather at night.
Dan and Maggie spent a long time together, and the gossip atmosphere on the table heated up, with everyone talking at once.
"Yes, don't worry about them," Dan said.
Maggie never drank alcohol. She took a sip of the Bacardi Sweet on the table, the taste was pleasant, and her eyes brightened.
"Eating something sweet can make people feel good," she said.
When she smiled, there were faint dimples on her lips, which were infectious.
Dan stared at her and asked, almost involuntarily, "Is your date a friend or a boyfriend?"
"Boyfriend," she answered straightforwardly, then swiftly changed the topic, "Have you been to the hospital to see Rob?"
Talking about work, Dan's expression became serious, "I have, there are signs of improvement."
Both City TV and Channel City wanted to be the first to interview Rob. Maggie mentioned it briefly, but they didn't talk much about it.
She finished a whole glass of wine in one go, and Dan saw that she liked it, so he suggested with a gentle and seductive voice, "The original white boiled seafood goes well with this wine, want to try it?"
She insisted, "It's too late, I need to rest. I have an early flight back to the city tomorrow."
"I'll take you back to hotel," he offered.
"It's not necessary, the hotel is not far, and I have arranged for a car."
Dan smiled and revealed her true intention, "It's easy for you to take a cab to come here, but it might be difficult for you to take one to go back."
Maggie pursed her lips and stopped.
This private beach was filled with people who drove here in groups, and during the holidays, it was crowded. Maggie did have called an Uber, but she was number 14 on the waiting list and had to wait for a long time.
Dan arranged for the show's car to send her off, and he accompanied her to the corner of the hotel's third-floor corridor, where her room was.
Maggie stopped at the door, "I've arrived."
"You're alone; be carefull. Don't open the door for strangers," he reminded her.
She couldn't help but smile, "I know, I'm not a child."
"You look like one," Dan lowered his gaze and looked at her delicate face, "Go in and get some rest."
"Okay."
Dan turned around and walked down the corridor, and she swiped the room card to enter. Just as the door was about to close, it was forcefully stopped by the tip of a shoe.
Maggie was startled, and her whole body tensed up.
"It's me," Harold's deep and magnetic voice sounded in the silence, hitting her heart.
She released her grip on the door, leaving it wide open, her heart pounding with fear and excitement. "Aren't you in Havenport?"
Harold had deep eye sockets, and at this moment, against the light, they appeared even more intense and profound. "I missed you; so I came."
He didn't like using his position to gain privileges in personal matters. He drove over six hundred kilometers in a hurry, switched to a train after driving part of the way, and went through a lot of trouble.
Maggie's heart was pounding uncontrollably. "Won't this affect your work?"
Harold took off his short leather jacket and threw it at the entrance, then passionately and madly kissed her as he unbuttoned his shirt.
He tasted the sweet and mellow taste of the wine in her mouth, his strong and muscular body like steel, hot and scorching, making Maggie almost melt from the inside out.
"Forget it," he said, forcefully trapping her in.
Chest, pressed against her, closely attached to the wildly beating heart, "Who brought you back?"
He arrived early and stood at the safe exit smoking, witnessing everything at the door.
Maggie's tongue was numbed from being sucked, and she mumbled, "A colleague."
"The last one?"
Her lips were ruthlessly ravaged, swollen and hot, "Another one."
"How many." Harold's desire grew stronger, with hints of vanishing implications, "If I didn't come, would you find another man to accompany you?"
Harold rough and dry palm slipped into her skirt and firmly grabbed most of her buttocks, kneading heavily, wave after wave of intense pain, electrifying Maggie's bones, causing her eyes to flood with thick mist, "It's a coincidence, don't frame me."
