Was That Familiar

While the autumn leaves fell around them, the torches lit up the dining hall where the Hexom's sat as a family for dinner. Gretchen curled her lips under as she lifted her chin and scanned the room for Damien. Not seeing him, she sighed then went back to her food. Her stomach danced inside her as she nervously picked at the chicken on her plate. Teddy bumped his shoulder against hers to get her attention. "Not eating isn't going to get him here any faster. You got someone depending on you now, Gretch."

She smiled as the reality of his words reached her heart. "You're right."

As she was finishing the last of her meal, she smelled Damien's scent coming closer and her heart began to thump against her chest. She blew out through her mouth and shook out her fingers as the coldness of fear took her hands over. When he rounded the corner of the stone wall, Gretchen held her breath as his eyes met hers. He licked his lips then slowly headed towards her family's table.

Seeing him approach, Teddy stood and motioned for him to come sit down. "Come here, son. I'm all done anyway." As Damien came to the other side of the table, Teddy kissed Gretchen's cheek and whispered, "Remember what I said, Gretch."

Teddy shook Damien's hand and smiled. "I hear congratulations are in order." Damien's eyes snapped to Gretchen then he nodded as he looked back to Teddy. "Yes, thank you."

Teddy looked him in the eye and said, "I know she marked you like the beast she is, however, I'll be expecting a proper brand on that finger to show up soon."

Damien grinned and said, "I'll do my best."

Teddy slapped his shoulder as he walked past him. "That's what I want to hear."

Damien slid one leg over the wooden bench beside Gretchen then sat down facing her and took her hand as he leaned into her ear. "I'm here, Gretchen, and wherever you try to run, I'll be there too. You can't escape me."

Gretchen smirked at her trembling hands betrayal while Damien brought it to his lips and kissed it. "Will you come talk to me now? I'll not let you rest until you do." Gretchen looked into his eyes and nodded. Damien kept her hand and stood then waited for her to say her goodbyes to her family. As they walked back to the library, Damien put his arm around Gretchen and pulled her close to him. He didn't care what she had to say or how angry she became, in Damien's mind he'd already came to a decision. He was staying by her side no matter what she wanted.

Damien opened the door to his room and waited for Gretchen to come through then shut the door. Gretchen looked around at the murals and tapestries on the walls. "You related to all these fellas too?"

He stood closely behind her and leaned into her ear. "Do you really wish for a history lesson?"

Gretchen chuckled and turned to face him. "Not especially."

Damien sighed as he looked over her face then took her hand and led her towards the balcony. As he stepped outside he pulled her into his arms and said, "I won't be apart from you, not another day, Gretchen. I won't let you leave me tonight until we've talked this through."

Gretchen glanced out to the forest and bit her lip. "Oh, I'm going to try to keep my ire in check, but I got a lot of things to say, Damien."

He pushed her hair back and kissed her forhead. "I'm listening."

Gretchen's eyes teared and she took a deep breath. "I can't be with you if you're going to keep secrets, I can't. I need you to come clean with me, Damien. Any remaining lies or whatnot you have lingering out there, you need to tell me now."

Damien took a ragged breath as he gathered his courage. "That night, Gretchen, finding out about your father, I didn't know what I should do. It happened so suddenly." Damien closed his eyes as he realized how horrible his words would sound. "It had to be that night, Gretchen. It had to be that moment when we were together, it couldn't wait."

Gretchen shook her head. "What are you saying?"

"You won't understand, I'm afraid, but since the day I remembered you and Drago two hundred years ago, my father and I have been researching how to bring you back. Both of you. " Gretchen squinted as a sick feeling came over her. Damien glanced down away from her gaze and continued. "Your spirit was too...well, you always have been a bit stubborn. You wouldn't allow yourself to be summoned, but Drago was more cooperative."

Gretchen gasped as she realized what he was saying. Damien licked his lips and looked back into her eyes and nodded as he read her thoughts. "Yes. It's Drago, Gretchen. I'm sorry I kept you from your father, I'm so sorry, but I won't apologize for getting our son back. I won't."

As Gretchen's whole body shivered against Damien, he braced himself for the inevitable and predictable fury that would undoubtedly come from Gretchen at any moment. She sucked in a breath then buried her face into his chest. As she pulled against the back of his shirt, she sobbed into the front. "Are you sure? Are you sure it's him, Damien?"

Damien put his hand on her cheek then slid down to look her in the eyes "I am. I know it in my soul. It's our Drago." Gretchen put her hands on the sides of her head as she took in everything he said to her. "How?"

He ran his fingers across her teary cheek and smiled. "200 hunderd years is a long time. We spent everyday of it in that library learning the magic. Then, one day my father conjured a spirit and we knew it was possible. Your spirit, it was difficult to pin down. You had gone to Earth and it was just too far away. Drago never strayed far from home, fortunately. His last body died right after you arrived in the Realm and my father had been holding him in place, just waiting for you to...to be ready."

Gretchen wiped away her tears quickly. "Wow, that's pretty creepy."

Damien huffed through his nose as he shook his head. "It's not..."

Gretchen put her fingers across Damien's mouth and shook her head no. "Thank you, Damien. Thank you. Just, just keep your father out of our sex life from now on if you want to continue to have one, alright?"

Damien smiled and nodded his head. "I do want that. You have no idea how much."

Gretchen slid her hands up Damien's chest then put her arms around his neck. "Is that it? Is that everything, Damien?"

"That's everything, I swear."

Gretchen glanced to Damien's lips and licked her own. "No more secrets?"

Damien shook his head. "No more secrets, I promise you."

Gretchen twisted her lips to the side and nodded as she took back her arms and slapped Damien's chest. "Alright, come on." She pushed herself out of Damien's arms and walked inside the room.

Damien followed her and asked, "Where are you going?"

Kicking off her shoes, Gretchen looked back over her shoulder. "This is called makeup sex, Damien. You're going to want to get in on this, trust me."

Damien wiped his hand across his mouth as he watched Gretchen take off her shirt. He'd expected a lot of things to happen tonight, mostly yelling and possibly objects being thrown at him. This was a surprise and he wasn't sure exactly how to react. Gretchen pulled off her jeans and looked at him then nodded towards the bed. "Let's go."

As he unhooked the pin that held his cloak on, Gretchen shimmied her panties down then sat on the edge of the bed and crossed her legs as she waited.

Damien pulled off his shirt and threw it on the floor as he kciked off his shoes. As he walked to her he unbuttoned his pants and pushed them down. Gretchen uncrossed her legs then started to lay back, but Damien grabbed her chin in his hand and pulled her back. "If you ever put your lips or any other part of you on another man again, you will regret it."

An evil smile curled up on Gretchen's lips as she kissed his fingers. "That's the man I remember. Where have you been?"

Damien grabbed her wrist and pulled Gretchen up to him ,then turned her around and pushed her shoulder down until she laid across the bed with her ass high in the air. Gretchen's face pulled up into a pained scowl as Damien slammed inside of her without care. "Here I am."

As Damien pounded Gretchen against the bed, she panted and grunted while the man from her memories reclaimed his ancient mate. All the doubts swirling around Gretchen's head were beginning to clear as each agonizingly satisfying thrust inside her swept away the confusion of her past.

As she started to clench rhythmically around him, Damien wrapped her hair around his fist and pulled as she arched her back. "AH! AH! AH! Damien!"

With a final grunt, Damien filled Gretchen with his seed ,then pulled her by her hair until her back met his chest. "Was that familiar?"

As Gretchen struggled to catch her breath, she put her arm around him and ran her fingers down his cheek as she nodded. "I remember everything."
