Chapter Twenty-Two - Shit on my car

Freya Rose

There was no denying that Tristan felt Selene's power, I was pretty much immune to it now, but when she turned it on, she had wolves falling at her feet. And that is exactly what Elsa, Tyler and Cassie did. I looked around and even saw a few of the crowd kneel down on the floor. I hadn't bothered to find out if more wolves were here, but now I knew they were.
“I'm sorry Goddess, I... Please forgive me,” Tristan replied.
Marik laughed, so I dug my claws into his hip even more. I could feel blood running down his skin, so I quickly pulled my hand away slightly. He raised his eyebrow at me and then grabbed a hold of my hand through his t-shirt and shoved it back down, shoving my claws deeper into his skin. He sucked in some air with pleasure and I couldn't do anything apart from worry about what he had in store for me later. He winked at me and then addressed his mother,
“Mother, seriously, let the poor wolves get up off of the floor. Look this one’s pregnant.”
He walked forward and held out his hand for Elsa, she glanced up at his hand and then over to Selene.
“Fine, you may all rise,” she said with annoyance.
They all began to stand up, Marik was a gentleman and helped Elsa up. Tristan helped her from her other side. Once standing again, I expected them to want to ask Selene questions, but they all just stood there staring at her like braindead zombies. Marik walked past his mom and over to me and then said,
“We will meet you at the restaurant, I'll get Finn to text you and tell you which one we're in.”
He then held my chin and placed his lips onto mine, his kiss was soft and gentle, the complete opposite behavior to his earlier display of liking pain. This was definitely going to be interesting, I thought as he pulled away from me. He then walked away and then shouted out,
“Come on mother, leave the wolves alone.”
She went to turn around but then stopped and approached Elsa instead. Elsa froze and stood perfectly still in front of her. Selene placed her hands onto Elsa's stomach, she then bent down and whispered to her bump,
“Goodbye tiny wolf. Stay strong for your daddy.”
She then kissed Elsa's stomach, stood up and walked away. I could see that Elsa was confused by what Selene had just said, and I was too. Maybe she meant that the baby is already strong and she's just telling it to stay strong. Whatever she meant; I could see that it had Elsa thinking. Selene snapped me out of my daze when she shouted back,
“Freya, don't take too long, the pack is ravenous, they're minutes away from eating the waitress.”
“Ok, I'll be there soon,” I shouted out to her.
“Oh my God Freya. What is it like being around her all the time? Is it amazing?” Cassie asked me as she held onto my hands.
I chuckled and replied,
“It's ok, she's a little annoying, to be honest.”
“I heard that!” Selene said through a mind link.
“Sorry, I love you, but you know it's true!” I replied to her through the link.
She just laughed through the link. Tyler stood in front of me and asked,
“Is she mind linking you right now? What's she saying, did she say anything about me?”
I furrowed my brow at him, and Cassie said,
“Why would she talk about you? Wait, did she mention me?”
I shook my head at them and then replied,
“Look, we are having a bbq and party later for my birthday, would you guys like to come?”
Cassie gasped and replied instantly,
“Yes! Yes, yes, yes!”
“I'll take that as a yes then. Would you two like to come?” I asked Tristan and Elsa.
My smile faded when I saw Elsa, she was terribly pale, and she looked awful. Tristan had his arm around her and replied,
“No, thank you for the invitation, but Elsa isn't feeling too well, so I'm just going to take her back to the house and take care of her. Tyler, Cass, can you take Elsa to the car please?”
Cassie and Tyler nodded and then took an arm each of Elsa's, they then began to slowly walk her away. She glanced worriedly over at Tristan and he quickly reassured her,
“I'll be along in a minute, I promise. I love you.”
My heart still sank hearing those words come from his lips and be directed at someone other than me. I don't think I'll ever be ok with hearing him say I love you to anyone else. She smiled weakly at him and then walked away with Cassie and Tyler. Cassie shouted back,
“Text me the address!”
“I will see you later,” I shouted back as I waved goodbye.
I turned back to look at Tristan, wondering what he wanted. He stood there watching behind me, I turned to look, and he was waiting for them to leave. I turned back around once they had left, and before I could react, I had Tristan's arms around me. The familiar feeling of his hard chest, them strong arms and that tight death embrace, had me feeling weak at the knees. I felt the spark in my mate mark as he kissed the top of my head. My hand slid up and found my mark. He noticed my movement and his hand joined mine, our fingers interlinked as they both traced around the mark.
He then pulled away from me and stared into my eyes as he said softly,
“I am so sorry for what I did to you. The turning, cheating... God, I can't believe I tried to kill you. What the hell was I thinking? I'm just so, so sorry for everything Freya! Can you ever forgive me?”
I could see the sadness in his eyes, and hear the guilt and regret in his voice. It was impossible for me to deny him forgiveness. I still loved the guy for Christ sake, how could I hate him forever? I needed to let him go, this was my opportunity to finally move on from him. He looked down at the floor, so I placed my hands onto each side of his face and held it up to look at me. He looked into my eyes as I said sincerely,
“I forgive you Tristan.”
He instantly sighed with relief and pulled me in for a hug. He whispered into my ear,
“Thank you Freya, thank you for forgiving me, thank you for being my best friend, for being my first, and for loving me despite me being a complete dick.”
He then kissed the top of my head again, and then whispered again,
“I love you always, Forever be mine.”
He then reached into his pocket and pulled out my locket. My eyes grew wide as I stared at the locket. He placed it into my hand, and I walked over to a bench at the side of us and sat down. I turned the locket over and read the inscription. It had a few new dents in it, but it still opened. I looked at the pictures inside of Tristan and me. A tear slid down my face as I traced the pictures with my finger. I was sad because it reminded me of my old life, my human and ordinary life. It seems like a dream now, like it was never real. But holding that locket in my hand again, brought it all back.
“I'm sorry, I found it that night in the woods. It's actually the thing that brought me to my senses. When I stepped on it in the grass, I thought it was a sign. Then I saw Mason burst into flames, so I used the distraction to leave. I thought you would want it back. Do you want me to take it away?” Tristan said as he sat down beside me and reached for the locket.
“No, please don't!” I choked out as I moved it out of his reach.
“But it's made you sad,” he replied.
“No, it's fine, I just find it hard remembering our life back then. Back when I had everything I ever wanted. Back when I was happy, in love, and human,” I said quietly.
He put his arm around me and pulled me to the side. I rested my head on his chest as he said,
“I'm so sorry I dragged you into this world. I should never have dated you.”
I pulled away from him, hurt by his words. I looked into his deep blue eyes and asked,
“Do you regret falling in love with me?”
“Oh my God Freya, of course not. You and your love was the best thing that ever fell into my life. I could never regret being with you, I loved you. Hell, I still do, I just lost track of that for a while. I know that my life is on a different path now, but what I would give for this to be our life,” he said as he took my hand into his and then looked down at them.
“Tristan, please don't do this. You have a new life now, a wife and a baby on the way. You have to forget about me and move on with your life. Be an amazing father and husband, and be happy,” I replied softly as I tried to keep my tears at bay while running my thumb over his thick gold wedding band.
“I don't think I can Freya, not now that my wolf and I know that you're our mate,” he said as he snatched his hand away from mine.
“You have to, it's what I want. No, it's what I need. I need to know that you're happy, that you've moved on, and that you're living the life that we should have had. Tristan please, it's the least you owe me,” I choked out as the flood gates gave way, allowing my tears to break free.
He placed his hands on my face and then smashed his lips onto mine. I inhaled as the world slowed down and my lips began to slowly caress his. It was like they had returned home; he tasted the same as I remembered. His lips as soft as ever as they gently traced mine. They knew exactly where they were going, and it was like they had never been away from my own. I began to sob into his mouth, and then pulled myself away.
“We can't,” I whispered, and even I didn't believe my own words.
“Tell me you don't want me, tell me that you don't love me, and I will leave right now,” he said harshly.
I snapped back,
“That is unfair, you know I can't say it and mean it. But if you ever loved me at all, you'll do what I ask. You need to let me go, please Tristan, I can't do this, you can't make me be the reason why your family falls apart, I don't deserve that. Neither does your wife or your unborn child.”
“I know, I'm sorry. I've hurt you again, I just can't stop hurting you. I'm sorry Freya, you'll never have to worry about me again, I'll leave you alone. Goodbye Freya,” he said in a broken voice as he stood up and began to walk away.
I grabbed his hand and pulled him back, I then stretched up and kissed him. My tongue dove into his mouth and greeted his, our breathing labored as we kissed each other. He then grabbed my ass like he used to and lifted me up around his waist. I ran my hands through his now shorter hair as I intensified the kiss. Sparks flew all around and it was like the entire world didn't exist anymore.
“Ahem, Tristan?” Tyler said quietly.
My eyes shot open and I pulled away from Tristan. He sighed and lowered me to the floor. I tucked a stray strand of my hair behind my ear as I glanced up at Tyler. He smiled at me and grabbed me for a hug, he whispered into my ear,
“It's none of my business. I love you and I'll see you tonight.”
He then kissed my cheek and turned to Tristan. In an angry voice, he said,
“Your mate is waiting in the car; we need to leave.”
Tristan nodded his head, turned to me and kissed me softly while holding my chin between his finger and thumb. He then opened his eyes and said,
“Happy birthday Freya, I will never forget you.”
“Goodbye, Tristan. I'm so happy for you, you're going to be an amazing father,” I said softly as I finally took the beginning steps to move on from my first love.
He smiled and then turned to walk away with Tyler. I knew he would be ok, they all would. In a few days he would forget that I ever existed, he would be able to give his mate and his baby his entire heart, and that thought made me happy. I finally had closure and in a few days so would he. I looked down at the locket that was still in my hand, I read the inscription one last time and then shoved it into my pocket. I then looked at my phone and headed over to the restaurant where my pack were waiting for me. I hurried along hoping that they hadn't already eaten the waitress.

Mason Hart

I groaned as I opened my eyes, I was still trapped beneath the collapsed roof of the car. My head was banging, so I tried to touch it but there wasn't enough room for me to reach my hand up to it. Worry quickly popped into my mind as I remembered what had just happened.
“Evan!” I screamed into the air.
“Ya, I'm here,” he shouted back, and I sighed with relief.
“Are you ok?” I shouted out to him.
“Well my ass hurts like a bitch, but ya, I'm ok. Are you ok?” He asked.
“Yeah, I think so. I'm gonna try and open this door, can you get through to her?” I asked him and then pulled my legs back as far as they'd go, and then booted the door.
It popped open, so I turned around and crawled out of the car and onto the ground. I then stood up and stretched out my back as the wind continued to rage around me. I held onto the roof of the car and then pulled myself up onto it to join Evan.
“I think I can get through to her if you cause a distraction,” Evan shouted out, not even giving me a chance to settle on the roof.
“What do you need me to do?” I shouted out, trying to be heard over the roar of the wind and rumbles of thunder.
“I need you to go all Phoenix on her, and when she's focused on you I'll tackle her,” he shouted back.
“Really, you want me to be bait?” I asked hoping that he had a better idea.
He didn't bother to answer me, he just nodded and then jumped off of the car and began sprinting as fast as he could against the wind. I knew I didn't have long before she had him tied up in green lightning bolts again, so I stood up and jumped down onto the bonnet of the car. I positioned myself in the middle of it, and then ascended as fast as I could. Once ascended, I swiftly burst into flames and screeched extra loud into the air, to make sure that I well and truly had Cora's attention.
It worked, and she quickly came charging towards me screaming like a crazed banshee. I held firm as she got closer and closer to me, I glanced around in a panic trying to spot Evan, but I couldn't see him anywhere. She was getting closer and closer and when she was only a few feet away from me, I crouched down and placed my arms over my head as I prepared for her onslaught.
“Oh shit!” I mumbled as I closed my eyes and waited.
And waited, and waited. I was still crouched down on the bonnet of the car, long after the wind and rumbles of thunder had stopped. I don't know why I hadn't moved, I figured it had all gone quiet and still like it does when you're in the eye of a tornado or something. I thought it was the calm before the storm, and I wasn't going to risk having my head electrocuted, as soon as I peered to see what was happening.
“Dude, what are you doing? You look like you're taking a shit on my car!” Evan joked as he banged on the bonnet of the car.
I gradually lowered my arms and opened my eyes. The sun was shining again, and everything was back to normal, like I mean everything, the tree that had been struck by lightning was normal, the leaves were all back on the trees. I spun around and even the roof of the car was back to normal, like Evan's ass hadn't slammed into it and nearly decapitated me.
I frowned as I turned back to face them. I sat down on the bonnet of the car and exhaled heavily. I then looked at Evans mom, she wasn't anything like I had expected. I was expecting some old hag, with long stringy gray hair, warts over her face, giant hooked nose, you know all the cliché things you see in the movies. But she didn't even look old enough to be Evans mom, or anyone's mom in fact. She looked younger than either of us. She looked around 25 years old, with her youthful porcelain skin. She had a bright red curly bob that sat just above her shoulders. She had Evans green/hazel eyes and that was the only resemblance. She was absolutely breathtaking, and I gulped as I took in all of her beauty.
She smiled sweetly at me and said in a soft and innocent voice,
“Hello Mason, I haven't seen you since you were in diapers. Get your ass over here and give your aunty Cora a hug!”
I slid down the car and cautiously made my way over to her. She grabbed my head and pressed it into her ample bust and I couldn't help but blush. She could definitely get a guy or two in trouble, and I made myself feel sick knowing that she was my aunt.
“Ahem, It's nice to meet you Coraline,” I said as I tried to pull myself away from her death grip.
“Just call me Cora, now come on, I'll put a pot of coffee on, and I bet you boys are starving. I'll rustle us up some lunch, how does that sound?” She asked sweetly as she ruffled my hair and then let me go.
“That sounds amazing mom, thank you,” Evan answered excitedly, and as if his mother hadn't just tried to kill us with a crazy storm and aluminous green lightning.
She casually walked over towards her quaint little house, and it wasn't too dissimilar to my own moms house, very rustic and homely looking. I took in a deep breath and then exhaled heavily as I followed behind Evan and his incredibly attractive and slightly insane mother. Once inside we were shown to her living room, the house was spotless and nothing like I expected. Again I expected a typical witches house, loads of cats, or at least one creepy black one. But, there was no sign of any cats, no crystals, no satanic symbols, no witches spell books, no nothing. It was just a normal house, comfy brown couches, dark wood coffee table and furniture, and beige walls with one wall covered in a light floral wallpaper. It was a little bit of an older style than you'd expect from the looks of Cora, but then again she was a lot older than she looked, so I suppose the decor was perfect for her real age.
I sat down and made myself comfortable, and Evan did the same. Cora eventually came back into the room carrying a tray of coffees, she placed them on the table and then went back into the kitchen. She then returned with stacks of bacon sandwiches. She then sat next to Evan, opposite me and said,
“So, what brings you boys to my door? I love seeing you son, but this wasn't planned, so I guess somethings very wrong. What do you need?”
I looked over to Evan to explain but he was already stuffing his face with the bacon sandwiches. I shook my head and said,
“Well, my Fianna is a werewolf/hunter hybrid. And she's on the run from Azael.”
“Ooo, right into the juicy stuff. I see Azael is still running around trying to build his hybrid army then!” She said as she sat forward on the couch.
Before I had a chance to reply, Evan muttered,
“Ah huh!” With his mouth stuffed full.
“Don't talk with your mouth full dear,” she replied as she patted him on the knee.
It was very odd to watch her being motherly when she looked more than 10 years younger than him.
“Wait, your Fianna is Freya Rose?” She asked me.
Evan put down his sandwich and looked at me and then his mom, I stared at her and then asked in shock,
“Yes, how do you know Freya?”
