Two Become One

Parker was acting oddly again. They had left Redwood pack a few hours ago, and he had been abnormally quiet. Rayne worried that he was feeling insecure now that she and Sebastion had become friends. Maybe he felt that now that Rayne had gotten to know Sebastion, she might regret the bond being broken. Oh, what a big fool Parker was being if that was what was going on in his mind.

Sebastion has the potential to be a great mate for someone who he would put first above his own needs. Rayne was glad that she got to know him, but that did not change the love she had for Parker. Their bond ran deeper than the mate bond. From the night he barged into her motel room, to the day they reached Bodega Bay, he had been by her side. He earned her trust in so many ways.

Parker had never once hurt her. He soothed her when she was upset. Listen to her when she bared her soul to him about her past. Not once in all these years had he judge her. He challenged her. Kept her on her toes with his inquisitive nature, crazy antics, and constant surprises. His tender side always melted her heart. She could never stay made at him for long.

The night she told him about what Wilson had done when she was thirteen, Parker got angry, then sad for her. Not once did she see pity in his eyes. She saw anger for the innocent child. The man that was meant to protect her broke that. It took all her strength to retrain him that night. There was nothing she or anyone could do now. Rayne didn’t even know where Wilson was back then, or if he was even still alive. Wilson is dead now that is all that matters.

That night Parker earned her respect. Their friendship blossoming to a new level. This one built on trust as she shared her most painful secret with him. Parker was the first person she ever shared that secret with. He soothed her while she cried. He didn’t once try to hug her, but he made her feel like she was not a broken person. That Wilson was the broken one for taking his anger out on an innocent child.

Parker later made her root beer floats. He made her laugh while sharing one of his childhood stories. All to distract her mind from the trauma of her past. That was the night she knew that their friendship would last a lifetime. That was the night she began her fall. Parker’s love was worth the wait.

Their love came on like a low simmer. Starting out as pure friendship. Then, as time passed, it boiled. Growing into something both thought the other was unaware of. Then it boiled over and exploded. Their hearts unable to deny the truth any longer. The mate bond amplified their feelings to a new level. One that made everything Rayne felt for him in the past pale in comparison.

Rayne decided that when they stopped for the night to sleep, she would ask him why he was being so withdrawn from her. She could feel his emotions, but all she got was happy feelings from him. Which contradicted how he was acting. Why was he acting this way? It was going to drive her crazy. No, she couldn’t wait. She had to know what was making him stay silent.

With a frustrated sigh she turned to face him, “Ok, Parks, spill it. What is going on? What are you pulling away?”

Parker frowned as he glanced at her, “I am not pulling away.”

“You have been oddly quiet since we left Redwood. Why?”

“Do you think you father will be happy when you tell him about us?” Parker asked.

Rayne laughed, “Is that what you have been worrying about this entire drive?”

“No,” Parker looked at her once again then back to the road, “There are other things, but they are a surprise.”

“Damn you and your surprises. Can I have a hint?”

“Absolutely not. You will just have to wait and see.” He chuckled.

“Will it make me want to slap you or kiss you?” Rayne asked as it piqued her curiosity.

“It will make you want to kiss me. You will like the surprise, I promise.” Parker reached over, grabbed her hand to lay a tender kiss across her knuckles.

Rayne laughed at the grin plastered to his face. Knowing that he wasn’t feeling what she thought, Rayne relaxed. Her father would love the idea that they were mates, and she couldn’t wait to pick him up. She wanted to tell everyone at the bar too, but that would wait until they got back from Jade Moon. “He will be happy for us, do not doubt that.”

Parker nodded his head as he continued to watch the road. He drove until the sun sank in the sky, then he pulled off the freeway and headed towards a fancy-looking hotel. Rayne frowned, curious why they were pulling over here. They were planning on just staying in a tent at the next rest stop. Was this part of Parker’s surprise?

“Wait right here, I will be right back,” Parker said as he pulled up outside the hotel’s front entrance.

Before she had time to say anything, his door closed, then he was rushing into the building. Fancy hotel, late night, newly bonded mates. Rayne’s mind clicked with what she thought Parker might have planned. His romantic side was showing, and she loved it. Twenty minutes later Parker came back, but this time he opened her door. A grin plastered on his face as he looked at her for a moment longer.

He reached in, unbuckled her seatbelt, then slid his arms under her legs. He lifted her out of the jeep as she squeaked in surprised. He kicked the passenger door closed, then carried her into the hotel. Parker went straight for the elevator, hit the button for the penthouse, then gave her a sly grin.

“We have the top floor all to ourselves for the night. Sound proofing, so you can scream my name all you want,” Parker whispered in her ear.

When they reached the top floor, the elevator doors opened straight into the penthouse foyer. White and gold marbled floors, pale golden walls, and a curving staircase that led to the upper level. Parker spared no time to explore and went straight for the stairs. Rayne admired his single-minded determination to get to the bedroom.

The scent of roses, calla lilies, and candle wax hit her the moment they stepped onto the second floor. The door to the bedroom stood open, allowing the candle light to flicker off the walls in the hallway. The sight that greeted her when they walked into the bedroom took her breath away. Candles were scattered all over the room, light dancing off the walls. Rose petals were strewn all over the floor and bed. Vases full of calla lilies were on every surface of the room. Light jazz music floated out of the speakers of the small music system on the nightstand.

Rayne’s heart melted at his tenderness. He had made their first time together as mates special. “Oh, Parker,” she whispered in awe as he set her down on her feet at the end of the bed.

“I wanted this night to be a one to remember,” He pulled her jacket off, “To make our bond complete.” He slid her dress straps off her shoulder.

Rayne watched his eyes as he spoke, as his hands slid her dress free of her arms. His eyes darkened with desire for her. The smell of her arousal was thick in the air, his nostrils flaring as he took in her scent. His hands slid down to cup her breasts, then he lowered her dress as he skimmed his hands down her body. Soon she was standing in just her strapless bra and lace thong.

“Goddess, you are sexy,” He whispered as he leaned down to fuse his mouth to Rayne’s.

The kiss took on a life of its own. His tongue sweeping her mouth then tangling with her’s as his hand went behind her to cup her ass. Rayne put her arms around his neck, tearing the tie from his hair, then fisting her hands in his silky hair. Soon she broke the kiss as they were both gasping for breath.

“Make me yours, Parker. Make love to me and complete our bond. Make us one fully. Please,” Rayne moaned the last part as Parker cupped her wet folds through the lace of her thong.

“With pleasure,” Parker said as he scooped her up in his arms.

He lay her gently on the bed, stood back to remove his clothing, then he slowly lay his body down over her’s. His heat radiating over her like a blanket. Parker lifted her hips to slide the lace away, his hand lingering on her thighs as she spread her legs to wrap them around his waist. Everywhere he touched her, sparks erupted like magic was living under her skin.

Rayne removed her bra for him as he kissed his way down her neck. When her breasts were free, he brought both hands up to cup them, flicking his tongue across one nipple and then the other. She moaned his name as he lavished her breasts with attention, her hips moving up against him as she felt his throbbing erection pulse against her core.

“Parker,” She whimpered as he bit her nipple.

Without waiting any longer, he moved his hips back and entered her slowly. Rayne watched his eyes as he filled her fully. Her entire body jerked like it was hit with a live wire. Electricity shooting straight to her core as he moved within her. Parker’s eyes went almost black as his baser animal instinct took over. He pulled one of her hands above her head, holding it there as he picked up speed. His other hand going down to her hip as he angled her up for a deeper angle.

Parker nudged her head to the side as he continued to glide in and out of her core. He kissed a trail down her neck until he hit the junction of her neck and shoulder. Then he nibbled back to her ear, taking the lobe into his mouth, grazing it with his teeth. He growled into her ear as she raked her nails down his back. Parker picked up his speed, then bit his way back to to her marking spot.

Rayne knew he was going to mark her, so she leaned her head to the side to give in full access to her neck. Parker growled as he sank his teeth into her neck. Light exploded behind Rayne’s eyes as the pain of his bite caused her to orgasm. She screamed out his name. When it faded, Rayne leaned up and bit down on Parker’s neck, sinking her teeth deep. His body spasmed over her as he reached his peak.

They made love throughout the rest of the night, taking breaks to eat, drink, or change rooms. They ended back in bed, breathing deep their newly mixed scents. They would now and forever smell of each other. They completed the bond. They were finally one, a fully mated pair.

The next morning Rayne sat on the balcony of the upper level of the penthouse. Parker was on the phone ordering them breakfast, so she grabbed his button-up shirt and headed out into the sun. Her body was still singing after their morning lovemaking in the shower. She stretched her body as the warm sun beat down on her, enjoying the feeling of her loose limbs and relaxed body.

“I ordered pancakes, toast, coffee, and bacon,” Parker said as he joined her on the balcony. He was wearing only his boxer, leaving his tight six-pack abs for her eyes to devour.

“We are going to have to work other meats into your diet other than bacon,” Rayne laughed as Parker sat next to her.

He gave her such a wounded look, “Why do you say such mean things, my love?”

Rayne only laughed at his expression. He moved her legs over his lap, then ran his hand up her leg in slow caresses. They sat together, letting the sun warm their skin, until the buzzer down below signaled breakfast had arrived. After breakfast, they showered again to clean the syrup from their bodies. Paker got a tad carried away with licking it from her body. Then they made love on the table.

Once they had showered again, Rayne dressed as Parker made the call to the front deck saying that they would check out. After they gathered their things, Parker gave her one more long lingering kiss, then that headed for the jeep. There were several more hours to drive before they reached Bodega Bay. Her father was waiting for them to take him home. Back to Jade moon to say goodbye to his mate. To all those that had died during the recent devastation that destroyed the pack.

Rayne was nervous to go back there. To the place that held so much pain to her. Having her memories of that night back seemed to make going back harder. Knowing what Wison had done to her mother. Why he kept Rayne alive all those years instead of killing her too. He wanted to ensure her silence, while he held the guilt of what he did.

Knowing that Wilson was dead made going home bittersweet. Wilson’s body would never rest with his wife and child, while Edmund lived and would return to mourn his mate. Wilson was gone, but they would live free of his darkness. Rayne always wondered what her life would have been like had her parents lived that night. She knew that there was nothing that would change that past. Moving forward was the only way to live.

With her father and Parker by her side, Rayne knew that she could handle the return home. There would be pain and tears, but they would leave there with love. Now was the time to lay the past to rest and make peace with the nightmare that was her life. Rayne would always be grateful for Sebastion setting her free that night. For setting her free now to live her life by her choice.

Parker was her life, future, and her end. The look in his eyes told her he felt the same. Their bond was complete. Now only death would break them apart. Rayne vowed to live each day to its fullest as long as he was by her side. He had a way of looking at her that let her know that everything would be just fine.

Rayne looked at Parker as he put the jeep in gear. Smiling as turned the radio to smooth jazz, then speed out of the parking lot. Home awaited.
