Chapter 19: Six Years Ago pt. 13
"Starting from now, I'll be always near you." He started
"If I can't be by your side during some occasions, keep in my mind that I'm not far away. I will also stay in places where you can easily see me so run to me when something happens, okay?"
"Yeah, I know." Rian nodded, "The only place where you can't be with me is school right?"
"Mm, but don't worry I'll drop you off and pick you up everyday. I'll be also waiting inside the car right outside your campus gate."
"You'll wait all day?"
"Of course. It's written in the contract that I should always stick close to you. The roadside is too far already."
"So we'll be inseperable starting today. She chuckled.
"Shouldn't we take a photo or something to commemorate this event? Like 'your first day of duty' or something." She asked energetically while showing him her phone.
Xander's brows furrowed. "That's unnecessary", while he distanced himself from her.
Rian pouted but it was suddenly erased when an idea crossed her mind.
"Hey Xander, I think we should eat at a restaurant today. It'll will be my treat."
"You should refrain from going outside too much." He reminded her.
"You'll coming with me so I'll be fine." She whined and Xander then agreed.
-----------
Too many people are watching as right now that we are inside the restaurant.
Rian acts like she doesn't care but she's actually bothered by all those gazes judging by her twitching eyes.
This is why I told her we should just eat at home.
She acted like a kid today, whining and asking me things. Looks like the childishness she have suppressed all this time is finally coming back to the surface.
After minutes of waiting, our order came and after eating we quickly went out to be free from those uncomfortable stares.
"Xander, let's go this way." She suddenly grabbed me by the arm and started walking fast pulling my left arm with her.
"We're here." She said excited as me stopped at a mall.
"What are we gonna do here?" I asked baffled not knowing what's on her mind.
We them went inside an accessory shop with her still clinging into my arm.
"Good afternoon Ma'am and Sir." The saleslady greeted us.
Rian smiled back at her and continued to run her eyes to the ones displayed at the counter.
I told her that I'll be sitting at the waiting area and she nodded. I kept a close watch as she roamed the room.
There were promise ring, necklaces, and bracelets made with silver, and gold. Some were even studded with pearls and precious stones.
Rian's eyes sparkled at the sight of them. We neared a counter and she continued to look at the displays.
She was approached by one of the staffs that noticed her searching for a certain product.
I watched them closely as Rian began telling the lady about what she was looking for.
The personnel then nodded as a sign that she got what she meant and then lead Rian into a corner were different products were hanging.
She handed her a box and Rian took a look of what's inside. She then smiled brightly confirming that it was the one she's been looking for.

After paying in the counter, Rian walked close to me with two small bags on her hand. One was blue and the other one was red. She then handed me the blue one.
"What's this?" I asked her looking at it.
"For you." She simply said.
"No, what I mean is-
"Wear that bracelet. It will let you know if I'm in danger." She said.
"Why need a bracelet when you have your phone? Moreover, I'll be the first one to see if any danger approaches you."
"You're so confident about yourself aren't you?"
"If I'm not confident enough, I wouldn't have accepted the job in the first place." I shrugged while Rian slowly nodded in agreement.
"But what if, okay? What if I was knocked out and was taken away before you could even rush towards me?"
"Then I'll come and search for you?"
"How will you find me if you don't know where I am?" She asked tilting her head and shrugging her shoulders.
"I'm telling you, that won't happen." I casually replied.
"But what if? I'm asking what if?" She persistently continued.
I sighed then looked straight into her eyes, "Then I'll travel until the end of the world to save you then safely take you back home just what I'm supposed to do."
She became quiet for a moment.
"Tssk, no one is capable of hiding me that far." She scoffed while looking away.
"Besides, they won't waste their time kidnapping me. They will silence me the moment they walks up to me." She bitterly smiled.
