Elementals:

Patrick:

Unfortunately, my lord did not keep a structured record of his memoirs, rather he wrote when there was some important detail that he did not want to let go unnoticed. During the years we roamed Scotland and Ireland, he greatly admired the doings of Gráinne Ní Mháille, queen of Umaill and the 16th-century Irish female pirate. Who openly opposed English rule over her country and to whom he finally offered immortality.

My lord also took an interest in Irish legends and folklore. One of them in particular helped him explain in part the existence of the strange beings that had so aroused his curiosity.

“I firmly believe that these "Elementals" are none other than the ancient race of Irish gods, known as The Tuatha Dé Danann, that is, "people of the goddess Danu" also called Tuatha Dé, "people of the gods", Riders of the Sidhe ( "Fair Riders") or Faeries. From them derive the legends about fairies and elves so popular among humans.”

“They arrived in Ireland, around May 1 (the date of the Beltaine Festival), riding on dark clouds in time immemorial, it is believed that it may have been even before the appearance of humans on earth or when humanity was still very primitive. Pagan tradition regards the Tuatha De Danann as gods come from heaven, possessing inhuman beauty, great mystical gifts, occult abilities and qualities, displaying all the signs of immortality. Able to adopt a more acceptable human form to go unnoticed, however their true form is terrible to behold for a human, according to legends they caused the fainting or death of those who dared to contemplate them. They introduced the use of horse chariots and the Druid cult in Ireland.”

“These druids were wise men and seers, noted for their knowledge of astronomy and astrology. They were responsible for organizing worship, sacrifices, and carrying out court proceedings.”

“Whenever one of the Tuatha De made a pact with a human, granting him supernatural gifts and demanding payment in gold, they would have the terms of the agreement etched into the gold surface, but curiously never touched the metal. This suggests that perhaps gold is a weakness or could be used as a weapon against them.”
“They endowed special humans, men and women, with ability, who because of the writing with which they were made were able to withstand the weight of bending and twisting the laws of physics, chemistry and the forces of nature to fulfill human purposes. The most famous of all was witch Carman and her three daughters. Whose descendants spread throughout the world. I have come to suspect that the Sorceress who cursed us was directly descended from one of these women.”
“They fought a constant war with the Fomoré (Dark Faerie), these gods shared great similarities with the Tuatha De but their contempt for humans and the incomparable cruelty with which they treated their subjects differentiated them.”

“Exactly when is unknown, but one night they raised a magical storm and disappeared without a trace, both the benevolent and the evil gods. The Milesian poet Amergin calmed the storm with his verse, his people crowned him king, and their descendants (of the Milesians) are the current inhabitants of Ireland.”

“These investigations have made me understand that we are not the only ones who have had a hand in the happenings of human history. These beings, as I understand it, come from somewhere in the stars. They are not earthlings much less human and I fear they have descended to us, seeking the destruction of our world.”

"...special humans, men and women, who by the writing they were made..." It refers without a doubt to the genetic code in the DNA, in the sixteenth century, when my lord wrote these memoirs, it had not yet been discovered and yet the folklore of the Irish nation referred to it for centuries.

Intriguing...

A month ago I spread the word throughout our territories to keep our kind on the lookout for our unknown guests from other galaxies. I believe that as king of the vampires, it is my obligation to try to establish diplomatic relations with our unknown neighbors.

000
A few minutes ago I received a call from the ruler of South America. Apparently he found one, managed to apprehend it and sends it to me by aircraft.

The shipment must be arriving soon, I am anxious to see such a wonderful being up close. I have dressed up and I am sitting on my throne. The doors open and a team of five men enter, bringing in a chained girl sporting hand and foot shackles. The chain appears to be made of gold as are the shackles.

The girl is really beautiful, she appears to be a teenager, her skin is pale, she has large golden eyes, covered by delicate eyelashes, a small nose and a mouth with thin lips. Her hair is blonde, with huge white streaks. Her body has hardly any curves and her breasts are small, but I suspect this in front of me is just a façade.
An enormous power flows from her and I feel that, although she appears to be almost a girl, she is much older than me.

They arrive before me.

— My lord, we have brought you the strange creature we captured in the Amazon. - announces the one who seems to be thebteam leader. Bowing in my direction.

—Is it necessary to keep the girl chained?- I ask.

—It's essential, sir. Otherwise it will disappear and we won’t be able to capture it again.
—Will disappear?

— Yes, sir. They are not like us who move quickly. They disappear here and appear hundreds of miles away. - He hands me the key with which the shackles are opened.
— I understand. - I descend from the throne, addressing the young woman in my most cordial tone.
— I'm sorry I forced you to come, but as soon as I learned of your existence I couldn't wait to simply run into one of you. I must say that I admire the work you have done and it is my greatest wish that you accept my invitation to be my guest.- I bow

She raises her chained hands and frowns at me.

— Where I come from, guests are not chained. I advise you to release me, my parents are on their way and they will tear strips from your skin for your audacity, demon.

—Uh…more visitors? I'm excited.- I make a sign to the leader of the tactical team and the soldiers fall back, occupying positions in different parts of the room quickly.

“The pride of your kind knows no bounds. Do not confront us King of the unliving, free our daughter or we will exterminate you and all those under your rule...”

A disembodied voice whispers. I raise my eyebrows in puzzled amazement. In an instant, a man and a woman appear a few steps from where the teenager is standing.

Thanks to Buddha I am preparing, I take out the special sword that I ordered from the artisans, its blade is made of gold-plated metal and its edge is deadly sharp, I place the edge against the girl's snowy neck, I do not intend to kill her, I simply want to have the advantage in this interview.
—Put the weapon away from our precious daughter or you'll face us, monstrosity!-shouts the one who looks like a man.
—Finn, calm down. He simply wishes to meet us that was his purpose by taking our daughter. Let's see what he wants from us.- the woman whispers.

I am convinced that the disembodied voice that threatened my destruction before they appeared before me belongs to the woman.

—My name is Ibel, and this is my royal consort Finn. - explains the woman in a quiet and peaceful tone.

—The girl you have taken hostage is our daughter Ava. We are the last living members of the Court of Light and of our kind. We are the children of the goddess Danu. - she raises her face imperiously and looks at me with contempt.

If the girl is powerful her parents are omnipotent. It is incomprehensible to me, how they are able to keep these immense energies under control without exploding right there, where they stand. The woman is like ten atomic bombs, the man concentrates about eight and the girl at least two.

From what I have researched about them, I know that they speak to me with half truths. They cannot reveal their true names, not to a creature like me, least of all to a human because we would be able to control them and use their monstrous powers for our purposes.

—It is an honor for me and my house to welcome such distinguished...

“Stop playing games Ibel, this miserable monstrosity threatens the balance of our existence and you settle for empty words, destroy him once and for all. The eclipse is about to begin...”

Three other creatures appear in the throne room. A man, a woman and a boy. Where my first guests exude energy, these three seem to absorb it.

I tighten the hilt of the sword, keeping the blade against the girl's neck, facing the newcomers.

— And you are?
The man frowns at me, his features emanating disdain and malice. I always believed that our species was predominant in this world but I just realized that we are like dust under the feet of these six.

—We are the Dark court of the ancient race. My name is Luce, my royal spouse is named Lieth, and our son is named Adam. Now, that introductions concluded... release the girl!

I frown. I understand the arrival of the girl's parents, their eagerness to see her free is to be expected, but what interest can these other three have in my prisoner's freedom?

I pull on the golden chain and take Ava with me, luckily the chain is quite long so I manage to regain a seat on my throne and force the girl to kneel beside me. I take special care that she doesn’t occupy my human’s cushion , I don’t want to disrespect my woman, even if she is not present. I hold the sword by its handle, laying it down so that the tip of the blade is stuck in the ground, I move the hilt in circles between my fingers, turning the blade, it flashes with the surrounding light, menacingly.

—The...threat from her parents is understandable, but...what business is it of you if I release my prisoner or not?

Luce steps forward. He is outraged.

—Our matters are none of your business, freak!-Luce barks.

— Calm down, darling. - His wife, Lieth, places a hand on his shoulder, they stare at each other and then she steps forward. - These creatures are not human but they share many of their traits...mainly curiosity, hmm. Can't you see it? The new King of the non-living wishes to acquire knowledge... - the smile that the woman gives me is frankly macabre, it is a mockery and an invitation at the same time.

—Mother, please...- the boy whispers.
—Oh, I swear we won't hurt your fiancée, Adam dear.

—Fiancée?- I ask.

—Yes, your prisoner is our son's fiancée.- Lieth explains.

I look at the girl out of the corner of my eye and she looks at the boy with such an expression of hatred that it leaves me speechless. He in turn looks at her with admiration and frank attraction. I raise my eyebrows.

—The girl doesn't seem to like the idea too much.

The boy averts his eyes from my prisoner's face and searches my eyes.

—You want her for yourself, is that it? Does your black heart covets her? – he hisses. His whole body trembles with rage, his face is a mask of fury and I instantly understand that he is in the grip of the most terrible jealousy.

He thinks I want his girl for myself, rubbish. I look at her for a moment. She's pretty and intriguing, but I gave my heart and soul of stone to a certain human not too long ago. I smile.

—Adam, control yourself, son. - Luce orders, in an authoritative tone.

The boy purses his lips and clenches his hands into fists.

—Well, our reason for being here has been established. Now... what else do you wish to know, your highness? - Lieth asks me directly in a very coquettish way.

— I want to know... what objective do you pursue, what do you seek in our world?

— We want to leave this planet and look for one of our own.- Finn replies.
—Oh, they have no sense of humor. We seek to dominate humanity, of course. - Lieth responds smiling.

I frown.

—Does this mean that you fight a war? Between you, between the court of Light and the court of Darkness.
—Not exactly a war. Our powers and intentions conflict. We are natural enemies. It has been like this since the beginning of time.- explains Ibel.
—Couldn't you... come to a peace agreement between yourselves, some sort of truce?
—We have, we have engaged our children. You have meddled in matters greater than yourself, King of the Unliving. The eclipse is coming and if our children do not complete their marriage ceremony ... this planet will explode and we will all die.- Luce threatens.

—Release our daughter and we promise to leave in peace.- Finn whispers. - We don't have time to play with you, monster.

—How old are you?- I ask, I'm really curious.

The Lieth woman laughs, it's a sarcastic laugh.

—Our existence cannot be counted as humans count theirs. We age every thousand years, the youngest of us is barely eighteen.- Lieth explains.

I raise my eyebrows. Eighteen thousand years? The girl is older even than me. I'm two thousand and three hundred years old more or less...and if the girl is the youngest I don't even want to imagine the ages of the adults.

My prisoner begins to vibrate, ever so slightly. It is as if the energy she contains is fighting to escape from her body. In the blink of an eye her appearance has changed. The human girl has disappeared and in her place kneels beside me a creature of indescribable beauty.

Her face is thin, huge golden eyes cover most of her face. Her hair has turned completely white and seems to sparkle like constellations. The most striking are their pointed ears. Elves?
I narrow my eyes, the girl emits a glow compared to that of two small suns.

I look at the others present in the room, the light hurts my eyes. Ibel's energy seems like a supernova and her husband another a little smaller. In contrast, the kings of the Dark court appear to be a similar class of creatures, but not entirely alike.
Their aspects and energies are contrary to the first, their hairs are so black that it seems the deepest darkness, their eyes appear to be bottomless abysses. If I'm not mistaken, the king's energy resembles a massive black hole, those of his wife and son are smaller ones.
No wonder they were once worshiped as gods. The appearance of the members of both courts is terrible and overwhelming. At least while you see them in their true forms. If I were human I would already be dead.
—Our time is running out. Free our daughter or we shall all perish.-Ibel pleads.
The girl's energy is erratic. Even the chain with which I held her captive vibrates dangerously. Rising waves of power have begun to pour out of her. I open the shackles on her wrists with the key, the gold has hurt her and her wrists bleed, her blood is a dark blue. I release her ankles, she runs and throws herself into her mother's arms, in an instant they are gone.

—You have made the right decision, King of the Unliving.-Finn whispers.

—I had a younger brother and he met your former king. Jeshua told me that your sovereign was impertinent and frankly insufferable... I'm glad to see that whoever ascended the throne in his place is much more... reasonable.

—One last question... What was the girl doing running around the Amazon jungle? -I insist.

Finn raises an eyebrow, shooting a scornful look in Adam's direction, and disappears.

The young man steps forward.
—She refuses our union. She fled from me and hid in the Jungle. Your men took her prisoner half an hour before I found her hiding place.

In the blink of an eye the kings of the Dark Court disappear.

—If the girl refuses...can't you just leave her alone?

Adam smiles, twisting his lips.

—She has no choice and neither do I...

He's gone and I look around the room, empty except for the members of the tactical team who kept quietly watching everything.

“We are doomed to be together. Darkness always follows light.”

Although he is no longer present I hear Adam's last words echo around the throne room.
