Part 33. The New Omega

There's never a moment Zach's mouth was away from the omega. It's always on her, somewhere, bruising her neck or nipping on her lips. Still, she couldn't believe that the Alpha managed to find out her secret. Then again, Ava was very careless at how she acted around him, stared too long and hard, quickly losing her breath and almost going out of her way to challenge him. Despite all that, it angered her that he followed her to the packhouse to catch her red-handed.





Zach tasted bitter, like remnants of his morning coffee and the colour of rage and anger. She began losing the thoughts forming in her head, unable to force the words out of her mouth, head reeling and melting in the Alphas hold.




Ava enjoyed having his knee in between her legs, eyes rolled back, the sensation causing to form fission of heat in her stomach. Her abdomen clenched painfully, breathing coming out on soft gasps, especially at his growl.




She caught a glint in his eyes, his tongue flicking quickly out over his bottom lip before it's gone again, animal instinct bringing their faces back together for more sloppy kisses.




"You are so infuriating, omega!"




Then maybe he should stop kissing her. She thought with a hitched breath, mind struggling to fit together the pieces of how much she wanted to touch Zach as much as he tried to kill her for lying.




When the Alpha reached around to grab at her ass, firm and plump as he forced their hips closer made the omega mewl. Her free hand slipped underneath the hem of his shirt, fingers tracing over the edges of his abs, moving their way up and around to drag her sharp nails roughly down the skin, leaving a stinging burn in their wake. The omega was aware that she'd regret this as soon as it's over, a fact Ava didn't care enough about to do anything to stop it from happening.




Her skin started to glisten in the dim light coming from her bedside lamp. She sagged in his arms, her legs moments from giving out, but from one second to the next, the Alpha had her pressed against solid wood. Ava's head banged almost painfully against the door, but her resulting gasp was licked up by Zach's tongue, and she kissed him back.




The phone rang in his jeans, and the Alpha almost missed it. He didn't remove himself, tongue smooth and exploring the ridges of her mouth. Ava made a sound that made him curl a hand behind to fish out the mobile buzzing rudely in his pocket. She took a step back, cheeks bright red and eyes downcast, unable to meet his stare as he answered the phone.




Ava wished the ground to open up and swallow her as a whole, her nails digging into her thighs painfully. Why did she act so wantonly with him? Throwing herself in his arms when she's supposed to be cross with him about her secret.




"Hello?" His rough drawl snapped her out of the thoughts, brows furrowed together. Who could it be? Whoever it was must have angered Zach in some way because the hazy look on his face was replaced with a frown, lips pursed together.




"Hmm," He grunted. "I'll be there in a minute."




With that, he hung up, slipping the phone in his pocket before turning around. His fierce eyes bore into hers, making her skin crawl. Now was a good time for the ground to open up.



"Tell me, Ava," The Pack Alpha breathed, leaning back a little. "Do you think of me as a fool? Someone who would never find out your precious secret?"




"I—what?" Ava opened and closed her mouth, hands clasped together.




"Do you think I'm an idiot?" The Pack Alpha asked, emphasising each word as though she couldn't understand him otherwise.




"Of course not," The omega quickly said, shaking her head. She would be a fool for thinking such a thing and an even bigger fool for saying it out loud. "Alpha."




The Alpha nodded slowly, pinning her with a pointed look. “Then why did you lie to me, omega?”




Before Ava could open her mouth to answer, someone yelled his name. It sounded a lot like Janet. Why were they calling him? She was thankful for the interruption, though, letting out a sigh.




“I’m coming!” Zach yelled back, looking over his shoulder. His hand raked over his hair with a frustrated groan, pushing them back before meeting her eyes again. “This is not over, Ava Pearl.”




Her heart beat in sync with the harsh footsteps of the Alpha as he stormed out of her room, letting the door slam shut behind him. Then it clicked to her that Zach knew her secret, and he had the power to expose Ava in front of the pack. With a curse, she quickly turned on her heel, abandoning the tote bag and the pill bottle that rolled down on the ground.

When she descended the stairs, Ava heard multiple sounds of laughter echoing around the walls. Two among those stood out to her, making her ears prickle. With curious eyes, she peeked in the living hall only to see Zach sitting beside his father, facing two blobs of heads. Who were they?





“Ava!” Jacob turned to her, the laughing lines on his face more prominent under the bright light. “You are just in time. Meet Nora, the daughter of my best friend.”




Ava froze the moment she heard that name, chills running down her spine. Her gut twisted as she knew what that meant for her. Nora. The new Luna. The omega was solely called to be courted by the Bruno brothers. How could she forget about that? That’s another one of the reasons she didn’t want to stay with the Alphas.





Nora turned around as if to greet her only to set her lips in a thin line. The new omega was stunning, Ava realised with a bitter curl to her mouth. Her dark brown hair flowed down her shoulder smoothly like a river, eyes warm brown, all sharp lines and milky white skin. She was wearing a skimpy dress, barely reaching her knees, legs crossed together as the omega sat in front of Zach. Was she trying to seduce him?





“Hello Ava”, Nora smiled, showing off her white pearly teeth. Damn it! She also had an appealing honeyed voice that Alphas loved. She’s not only attractive but also soft-spoken. “You are?”




“She’s the newest member of our pack”, Jacob added, unaware of the tension that settled between two omegas. “And Ava, this is Nora's brother, Damon.”




The omega barely flickered her eyes towards her Alpha brother, more focused on gauging Zach’s reaction. He refused to meet her eyes, hands resting atop his lap.




Ava wanted nothing more than to march right up to her Alpha and demand why she was being treated like she didn't exist, but the omega knew it would only spark more conflict. It could even damage her chances of mending the bridge at all. He had staked a claim on her minutes ago by kissing her senseless—so everything about this Nora burned like lava.




“Do you need anything else?”



“No, I was leaving.”



Jacob made a sound. “Great! Can you do me a favour? Would you please ask Ares and Dante to come to the packhouse? Their phones are unreachable for some reason.”



Ava felt as if someone had reached inside her chest and ripped her heart before crushing it into pieces. Of course, Nora would want to meet those two Alphas. Her breaths were coming in shorter gasps and pants the further she stood there.




With a nod, she rushed out of the packhouse, not even bothering to excuse herself politely. The moment cold air hit her face, she felt it like an ache in every joint, and the omega was shivering nonstop, now. It had been so long since she'd let the omega side loose to prowl, so many hours and days of feeling it clawing her from the inside.




She managed to drag herself away from the pack-house when the omega felt the emotions rolling off in waves, all the memories from minutes ago rushing back and on top of all of that, she was scared.




The omega dropped her face to her knees and sucked a sharp breath through her mouth. She curled in as tightly as she could, pulling her knees into her chest and wrapping those tingling arms around them. What was happening to her?




She rubbed her hands up and down her bare legs, unable to get dry or warm.




"No, no," The omega repeated, shaking her head with closed eyes as the sudden realisation sank in. Nothing made sense anymore because she couldn't think, and the space around her was spinning, and she felt so hot, and suddenly she was falling in slow motion into her heat.
