Part 91. Dante VS Alpha Lukas

Zach, Dante and Ares were guarding the front line while the Romanos were setting up the tent behind with the guards. The Pack Alpha chewed on his lips nervously, his heart thudding as a drop of sweat dribbled down the side of his face. It was coming. He could feel it in his gut as they held their breaths, his feet constantly shifting on the spot.

As if on cue, they heard the loud howl followed by a war signal from the main boundary. Before they could make sense of one signal, distress and chaos spread from all four sides. Alpha Lukas was using his tactic on making them restless by going all out in the beginning.

The Pack Alpha was angsty as they did not inform Vipers about the plan. Zach stopped any contact he had with them after that night. His brothers were not too happy in the first place, and after seeing Ian's dedication and his brother's guards, he did not feel the need for Leader Kyle.

Zach exhaled, turning towards Dante, who bobbed his head.

"I'll evacuate the packhouse!"

Ares made a sound; his feet pushed forward, eyes narrowed on the army of rogues. "Tell Ava to be safe and not fight these rogues."

"I will!"

Once Dante was out of his eyesight, he saw Edward Romano approach him with his lips pressed tight. The Alpha came to stand next to Zach, his gaze turning into slits. "Judging from their strategy, they will not hesitate to fight dirty. Are you ready?"

"I don't have a choice."

Ares landed with a thud on his back; the wind knocked out of him from the rogue's latest attack. The rogue leader was indeed stronger than Ares had thought, but that didn't mean he was out of his league.

The Alpha stood with a limp, definitely favouring the ankle that hadn't been kicked with all of his might. Both of them
were panting and wincing, and Ares spat the blood out of his mouth and gave a cutting smirk. "Not bad," He grunted as he got back onto his feet.

"I've been training a long time for this," The opponent replied, beginning to walk in a circle around him.

Ares locked his eyes onto the rogue and beckoned him forward. His attacks had been predictable and exceedingly direct, and just as he expected, the rogue sprung forward as he extended his claws to tear another scratch into his skin. Still, this time the Alpha dodged both swinging arms and took advantage of an opening to dash right up to him.

He was almost too fast to register, and the rogue didn't get a chance to retreat before Ares hand wrapped around his throat, but the most alarming thing was the searing, burning sensation he felt at the contact. Yelping, he slapped his hand away as firmly as the rogue could and jumped to a safer distance as he inspected the damage with a careful hand.

"W-What is this?"

Ares lips curved in a smirk, innocently blinking at his opponent. "You didn't think you would be the only one with a few tricks up your sleeve?"

The witch told them about the herbs, the kind that is almost equivalent to the poisonous wolfsbane. The only trick was to get around the central vein in the neck, and the wolf will be out in seconds. They will lose their ability to speak for a while, and even some parts of their body shut down.

He heard the rogue choke, pointing his finger and grumbling something incoherent before collapsing on the floor.

Zach, on the other hand, wanted to curb the guards from stepping close to the packhouse. His canines bared, digging painfully into the side of his cheek and claws slicing across the air. The attacks kept coming, one of them flying forward and punching him across the temple, quickly stepping back to witness the damage.

The Pack Alpha wanted to yelp, but he didn't. He refused to make one sound that would please his opponent. Zach stayed sideways and doubled over the position as he mentally managed the pain to a tolerable level. When the Alpha got over the shock, he grinned and slowly looked back to the snarling rogue, returning to his upright stance.

"Is that all you got?"

The opponents eyes darkened, and his anger bubbled in his stomach, beyond offended at such a disrespectful insult. "You little bitch," The wolf barked, clearly upset it didn't seem to have the effect he was hoping for. As he raised his hand in the air, Zach dashed as quick as lightning to the unsuspecting rogue and gripping his shirt as he pulled him in, savagely shattering his nose with a punch that had his opponent dropping to the ground.

From the corner of eyes, the Pack Alpha saw the Romanos trying their best to keep the guards at bay. There were too many of them while Lukas stood in the centre, watching the whole thing with a bright smile on his lips. That psycho.

Distracted, Alpha Zach allowed some wolf to plunge his entire claw into his leg, but he regretted every second. A sharp yelp slipped out of him, blood spluttering and drenching his pants. His brother Dante who witnessed the sight, let out a growl, snapping his head towards Lukas.

"I am going to kill him!"

It was too late for Zach to stop his brother, who had already bolted out of there, agitated beyond control.

Letting out a deep exhale, Zach wrapped his arm around the base of his wrist and started twisting it. The painful howls of the rogue echoed in his ears as the Alpha fully broke his wrist and ripped the claws out of his leg.

Dante raced towards his enemy without an ounce of fear, thinking back to his mate and their pup. The Alpha wanted this to end so that they could go back to how things were before this mess started. After healing his father, Tristan was bedridden, and they all started blaming themselves.

Their mate had just found her brother, and they let him sacrifice for their sake.

So, watching Lukas smile as if nothing happened with a massive grin on his face irked Dante. It triggered him.

As he ran towards him, Alpha Lukas raised two arms in the air, using his strength to push Dante. With a thud, he landed on his back. Amidst his victorious cackling, the Alpha grunted the whole way but successfully got back onto his feet, staring at Lukas through one eye as he tried to stand up straighter.

Lukas was amazed he could stand at all after a blow like that, but the Alpha also appeared happy in a way. If it had been over that quick, it wouldn't have been that fun for him.

"I would expect nothing less from Jacobs, son," Lukas noted approvingly as Dante stumbled over, eyes darkening and canines digging into the side of his mouth.

Dante ignored the comment as he focused his power back into his good hand. The Alpha finally stood at his tallest height and growled at the shocked face of his opponent.

Lukas visibly gulped but shook himself and prepared to strike while the Alpha smirked and sliced his claws through the air, itching to hack it into the rogue. They stood motionless for a few moments before shouting out and leaping together again, each Alpha desperate for nothing more than to kill the other.

The Alphas were neck-deep in their feud, landing and dodging deadly blows every few seconds. Their energy levels seemed perfectly matched, which wasn't a good thing, but Dante was younger than Lukas.

"You can't kill me so soon!" Lukas spat, wiping the blood off his face and holding his gruesomely gashed arm that Dante's claws had just barely grazed.

Taking a deep breath, Dante used both his hands, joyously exclaiming when his aim turned out to be symmetrically slashed through both of Lukas's hands, pinning him to the wall behind. The enemy roared in outright rage as he was grotesquely pinned against the stone wall. He tried to make a first careful attempt at moving his hands, but the resulting pain was evidently blinding.

Dante took a step closer to him, with murder in his eyes.

"Release me this instant, you brat. Let me go!" Lukas barked with a forceful timbre, trying desperately to take back control of the situation.

Dante condescendingly laughed as he got closer and closer until their feet touched, his eyes narrowing. The Alpha held his breath as he met Lukas eyes, raising an eyebrow at the terrified opponent. "Who said anything about killing you? No, Alpha Lukas, I am going to humiliate you in front of your entire pack, drag you to the council and make sure you pay for all your sins."

It took victory cheers to ring around the air for Dante to register that everyone witnessed them. Alpha Lukas finally lost.
