Part 48. Third Person POV
Nora’s face broke out in a wide grin, a low gasp escaping her lips as she stared at the Alphas. Her hand flew to cover her mouth as she pretended to act all shy and surprised. Play her part. Internally, the omega was beaming, of course, flickering her eyes towards Damon. Her brother devilishly grinned back at her, quickly averting his eyes. They cannot appear to break their character, not ever.
The idea occurred to her on the way back from that awful morning. Nora confessed everything to her brother in tears, easily including him in her plan. Damon has always been persuasive, and hearing that the Alphas hurt his sister, he got agitated.
Her brother forced a peal of enthusiastic laughter, turning around to look at Jacob, his eyes crinkling. “This is brilliant! Don’t you think Alpha Jacob? I was getting worried over here that these three have changed their mind about my sister.”
Jacob distractedly hummed, gaze shifting between his sons, who seemed far too out of their character. For one, Zach never expresses himself in that manner, and Dante was too quiet, to begin with. Ares also agreed to court Nora so quickly. The Senior Alpha could feel something was off.
Nora could see the wheels turning in Jacob's head, and she could not let that happen. The omega quickly wrapped an arm around Ares hand as he was closest to her, resting her head on his shoulder. He didn’t resist, eagerly welcoming her touch and patting the back of her head lightly. “I had no idea you three were so serious, Alphas. When you all told me you liked me this morning, I thought it’s a joke! I cannot believe this. Moons!”
“Really? These three?” Veronica let out a burst of surprise laughter, her eyes shifting between her stepsons. The Luna could not believe Bruno Alphas to be so approachable, especially with omegas. Of course, the unmated betas and omegas in the pack wanted them, it’s no secret, but the brothers never showed any interest before.
Nora hummed, her tone chirpy and loud. “I was surprised too! They are secretly romantic. Dante made me a nice omelette today and we all had tea together.” She pinched Ares bicep for a second, which made the Alpha smile.
Zach cleared his throat; his lips still stretched in a grin. “Dad, we are serious. We want to mate her as soon as possible. Maybe tonight?”
Jacob spluttered, his face red as he stared at Veronica, who appeared equally taken back by the absurd request. Without courting, no one mated in their pack. Why would his son ask him that? The Alpha sat up straighter.
The teenager omegas eyes flickered from her cupcake to the spoon and up to her brothers; her appetite instantly diminished. What was wrong with them? She couldn’t even use the mind link anymore, which startled her. The omega was worried that something or someone blocked her connection, but sadly Janet couldn’t say it out loud, or it would alert everyone, including Nora.
Trying not to keep staring at the evil omega sitting next to Ares, Janet bent down and sniffed at the cupcake. She was sure that Nora might have laced it with some potion. That must be the reason why her brothers were acting so weird. But then again, her father and mother ate the same thing. How did it not affect them?
Her eyes slowly shifted to Noras brother, Damon. That Alpha scared her for some reason, half of his face hidden by shadows falling over it from the hood pulled deep into his forehead. His left arm was below the table, hidden from view. Maybe Noras brother was concealing something under the table. To confirm her suspicion, Janet dropped her spoon and bent down to retrieve the metal, only to see Damon’s hand empty and gripping his jeans.
“Janet dear, why don’t you try it too?” Nora softly said, blinking her eyes innocently. “Your brothers loved it, and I am sure you will too.”
Before she could protest, her mother nudged her too. The omega swallowed the bile rising in her throat at that tone, poking at the cupcake more than actually eating it. Janet got through half the plate before pushing it away. There was nothing weird about it. The chocolate cupcake sat heavy in her stomach, and the tea had gone cold when she finally shook out of her thoughts, knuckles white where she's still gripping the dining table tightly.
“Do you like it?” Nora asked.
“Of course she did! It's the best cupcake I have ever had, my love.” Ares sweetly said, taking another bite.
Now Janet was convinced her brothers were out of their minds.
Jacob pushed the spoon on the table, clearing his throat, which gathered all the attention on the table. “I think you three need to go back and rest. You have been working a lot these past days. Hmm?”
Nora made a face. She cannot let them go not without finalising her courting days. At this rate, the effect may be dull by tomorrow, and they will talk to Jacob, and she would have to go back. The omega dug her nails into Ares. “Alpha Jacob, I know it sounds all too fast, but they already made their mind. Shouldn’t you let them talk?”
“One more day won’t hurt anyone, dear. Let them get some rest and sleep on it.”
Nora gritted her teeth, turning to Damon for help, who huffed, shaking his head. He could not oppose Jacob, or the entire ordeal would look suspicious. They could be caught, and the omega cannot afford that to happen. Not when they were almost there.
“Okay, if that’s what you suggest.” Her face fell, eyes cast down.
“Dad! You made her cry!” Dante hissed.
“How can you do that, dad? Are you that heartless?”
“I thought you wanted best for your sons.”
Veronica abruptly stood up, her hands on her hips, chin jutted out. “That’s enough, you three. You three cannot talk to your father this way. I think it’s better to go back to your cabin.”
Nora clenched her eyes shut. If they don’t stop now, the matter would well get out of her hand and arise suspicion. The omega nervously giggled. “Yes, I agree. Don’t worry about them, Veronica. I will see them off.”
Janet took that opportunity. She didn’t want her brothers to end up all alone with Nora. The omega was dangerous, almost made them fight with her father.
The teenager omega rushed to her side, forcing a cheerful tone. “Nora, I wanted your help. Let Cedric see them off instead.”
“But—”
Jacob hummed, his eyes narrowed at his sons. “She’s right. I will call Cedric. I don’t think you can handle all three of them.”
With her shoulders deflated, Nora glared at Janet and grudgingly nodded her head.

Shooting upright, Ava gulped noisily. Her heart was rabbiting away, producing an almost nauseating ache in her chest, the omegas insides clenching and head spinning. Something was wrong.
She curled forward and wrapped her arms around her middle, desperate to hold together that way, somehow. Her cheeks were wet, and she sniffled once, a single drop sliding down her face. Why was she feeling this intense rush of emotions all so sudden?
With a grimace, the omega looked out of the window and let out a sigh. It's been hours since the Alphas left. How long was this talk going on? She just hoped that Jacob wasn’t yelling at them. The Senior Pack Alpha was already in extremely fragile condition, and he needed to be happy. It reminded her that she should be telling the Alphas about Jacobs condition.
Lost in her thought, Ava almost missed the shadows falling on the floor, the door pushed open abruptly. At the sound, Ava startled and jumped back, pressing her back into the cushions, heart ricocheting in her chest, mouth parted.
“Moons!” She wheezed and exhaled a shaky breath when the omega realised that it’s her Alphas. Once her pulse slowed down again, Ava tilted her head at them, “You almost scared me!”
The three of them blankly stared at her.
Ava almost flinched when their gaze suddenly bored into hers, blank expression gone and replaced with anger, eyes turned into slits. They lowly growled making her shiver uncontrollably.
“Get out!” Ares snarled at her.
“You don’t deserve to be our mate!” Dante sneered, lurking behind, his voice full of hatred.
Zach darkly chuckled, not doing anything to defend her.
“What?” The omega inhaled sharply. “What happened?”
It felt like someone placed an invisible weight onto her chest that’s slowly but steadily breaking her until she’s close to choking. Tears prickled in her eyes as she stared at them, pain gripping her insides. Ava was so sure that she wouldn’t have to experience this type of pain again, but now it’s back and even more vicious.
Just then, Cedric rushed from behind, his hair in disarray, face flushed, and he shared a desperate glance with Ava. One look at him, and she was able to understand him. The beta took a step forward; he pressed his lips together and tightened his arms around the Alphas.
“I think something is wrong with them.”
Blinking back the tears, she took a step forward and closed her hand around their intertwined fingers and held on. Her eyes shot up as the omega saw a faint cloud hovering above them, almost blanketing the Alphas. She exhaled. “They have been poisoned with Love Potion.”
