Chapter 12: Spill

"You've got to be kidding me. You're actually pregnant?" Melissa asked. She wasn't prepared for such sudden news.

"Yes I am," Anna answered.

Antonio wanted to run for the hills. Anna's pair of eyes locked with his mischievously and he knew that it was all over for him.

"Anna, well this is very sudden but congratulations. The father must be so thrilled," Melissa said.

"Oh believe me Mrs. Kissle, he's not happy. Actually, he gave me a check so I can have an abortion when I told him that I was pregnant with his baby. He hates me."

"Oh my goodness, what an awful thing to do. Why would he do such a thing?" Melissa asked. She had a soft spot for babies.

"Because he's married." Anna broke down in crocodile tears. Melissa went to her side, rubbing the low of her back and saying sweet things to her to better the situation she let herself got caught into.

Antonio's jaw tightened but he was speechless. One wrong move and everything was going to be over. But no matter how he looked at it, it was still going to be over for him.

"It was a silly thing to do, I feel so ashamed of myself," Anna cried.

Antonio rolled his eyes and scoffed to himself. 'Ashamed'? He asked himself. 'Anna knew exactly what she was getting into and that was what she wanted.'

"It's okay Anna, no-one is perfect. We all make mistakes and I want you to know that Antonio and I would be here for you and the baby."

"You're such an incredible woman Mrs. Kissle. And I'm so sorry."

"What are you sorry for Anna?"

Anna swallowed her fear and looked at Antonio again. Melissa followed her gaze.

"Your husband is the father of my child."

Antonio caught an instant headache as Anna said those words he was trying to keep a deep secret.

"What?" Melissa asked.

"I'm so sorry. You're a very..."

Melissa didn't let her finish. "You're telling me that my husband is the father of your child? Which means that the two of you began screwing behind my back as I hired you?"

Tears flooded her eyes. She walked over to Antonio.

"Did you slept with her?!" Melissa asked with a shout.

Antonio didn't answer. He couldn't. He was too ashamed of himself.

"Mel, I'm so sorry baby," he begged.

Melissa slapped him across the face then followed by another slap to the other side of his face.

Anna was panicking. When Melissa got angry, she was a complete different woman.

"How could you do this to me? We've just gotten married, we haven't even left our honeymoon as yet and this shit gets laid on me? Why didn't you tell me before I walked down the fucking aisle and married you?"

"Mel, I'm sorry."

"Shut up Antonio! And you!" she turned to Anna who had her back against the wall. Melissa wanted to scream at her, to hit her and drag her out of the house by her weaves but she couldn't bring herself to do such an awful act. She wasn't a heartless person.

"Get out of my house," Antonio directed to Anna.

"Oh so now you want her out of the house Antonio, you didn't want her gone when you were screwing her!" Melissa cut in.

"I'm trying to restore things back to the way it was and I can't do that if she's still around us!" Antonio yelled.

"Things wouldn't go back to the way it was Antonio! It can't go back! A baby is involved now, another human being. How the hell are things to go back to normal around here!"

"Baby, you don't understand. Anna is a seductress. She came onto me!"

"That's bullshit! You had a choice! You could of told her 'No' and fired her but instead you decided to stick your penis into her."

"Why are you defending her?"

"I'm not defending her but right now, she's pregnant with your child and putting her out of the house and firing her isn't going to change anything for us."

"Baby, what are you saying?"

"I'm saying that Anna should stay on one condition."

"What's that?" Anna asked, fearing the worse.

Melissa walked up to Anna. Anna's heart pounded more and more as she got closer to her face.

What everyone didn't know was that Melissa had a secret on her own, a secret she was meaning to tell Antonio but afraid she'll lose him if she had told him such.

"You can stay. You can have the baby but once the baby is born, all rights would be handed over to the father and you would leave this house and don't ever come back."

"You want me to hand over my child to the both of you? I'm not going to do that!"

"Look at you Anna. You don't have the resources to take care of a baby and I did some background check on you and you've been lying since the beginning. You don't have any family, you don't have anyone but an abusive stepfather.

Now ask yourself, do you want your child to grow up like you did?"

Anna's heart sunk. She shook her head no.

"Good. So just hand over the baby to Antonio and me and we'll take care of him or her and you can move on with your pathetic life. Right Antonio?" She turned to Antonio.

"I don't understand why you'd want the baby," Antonio was puzzled. He was expecting Melissa to put Anna out the house or threw the wedding ring at him and call it quits.

"Because I can't have babies!" Melissa yelled with anger.

Anna and Antonio were both shocked.
