Chapter 36

Minerva’s POV

It had been days since she confessed to me.

We didn’t talk for a while. Well, the ‘while’ had been weeks now. And I presume it will be longer.

The weather in the Grays’ private island is cozy and sunny. Of course, what do you expect for a signature island of the family of billionaires?

I heard this belongs to Damon’s. I wonder what Darwin’s own island looks like…

To be frank, I’m worried about Mariella. I hope she’s not drinking herself into insanity again. But, it seems impossible. I’ve never seen a woman crazy for me like Mariella. I didn’t even know that I am pretty much that attractive to my fellow ladies. Or is it only to Mariella?

Darwin said earlier to enjoy myself here in Isla de Rubia. I doubt I will. My thoughts on my bestfriend made me just sit here and bathe under the cold sun.

Some of the Gray Co. employees are here. Though I did not see Kevin.  Damon once told me that the party will last for three days. Well, what is it for me though? I’m carrying a freaking human girl inside my womb. How am I going to enjoy everything that I can’t even bend down my body?

“Minerva!” Jocelyn’s voice rang in my ears. What is it again with her this time?

“Care to join me in the pool?” It took me a lot of strength to not roll my eyes. Or even drown this bitch on the salty sea.

“Sure,” I blandly said. Even though some of the male employees turned to her due to her bouncing boobs and nearly-uncovered pussy, I can’t hide my curiosity on why Damon married her aside for business purposes?

Damon deserves more than being with this woman. Jocelyn is less deserving for a man like Damon. She deserves an uncivilized man, or worse.

Gosh, why are you so mean Minerva?! I scolded myself.

I walked towards her so slowly. I don’t care if she narrowed her eyes or rolled her eyeballs on the back of her head. I am clearly in a delicate condition. It’s her fault for asking me to accompany her.

Darwin once told me that Jocelyn doesn’t accept no for an answer. I wonder if I ask her if she indulges in weed delight, will she realize that no isn’t always negative? That saying no is often showing that you have more important things to do than accompanying her like calling one’s bestfriend and the likes…

As I face her, I don’t know why my heart beats rapidly. What is she planning to do with me this time?

If she ever tries to harm me, I’ll definitely remind her that Darwin is just watching. And if she ever lay a hand on me, he will break all her bones like how a kid snaps a twig.

            “Let’s go?” I muttered.

Lyla’s POV

“Lyla…”

Darwin uttered my name as bitter as a black coffee.

“Hi, babe!” I waved at him as I walked like Gigi Hadid towards him, wriggling my tits that were once the apple of his eyes.

I wonder if my melons are still the apple of Darwin’s sight.

“Want to score some points for me?” My voice is a hundred percent, maybe a thousand percent flirtatious. The waves crashed and my voice drowned in the noise.

I became the Vice President’s secretary last year. But before that, I served Darwin in everything. Literally everything.

From checking appointments and making schedules to swallowing the tip of his cock and giving him a nice ride in his car, I have been a loyal servant to him.

But it seems loyalty doesn’t even last long on this planet. Even life doesn’t last long to be frank.

“Shut it, Lyla. I have a fiancée now.” Then he shoved me aside. As if the nights that I spent bouncing on top of him and the days I blew him were just forgotten like a sandcastle being washed by the waves.

“Please.” I grabbed his arm, eager to not let him go. “I…We can still do it here, right? I have prepared a cabana just for the two of us…” Sweet and soft, that is exactly what my voice is every time I talk to Darwin, and to him only. To others, they describe my voice like the voice of a rumbling thunder when I talk to them—frightening and annoying. Well, obviously they are not my Darwin.

“You are not my girlfriend,” said Darwin with laser-like eyes. “And you have never been.”

His last words echoed in my ears, in my mind, in my heart. He never saw me like that, like a girlfriend. Even if I worship his body like some God that I only knew existed, he only saw me as Lyla, his secretary—and fuck buddy.

“Then who is it then?” I challenged. “Who is it that you’re busy with this time? Who is it that you worship this time?”

He looked at a woman in the distance, who’s accompanying Madam Jocelyn by a man-made pool.

“Her…” Darwin said with a point of his chin. He then walked away without turning back, without even looking at my beach-perfect body.

“Ooohhh, busted huh?” Larry, the senior manager of the accounting department, teased me.

            “I want it,” said Larry.

I was still looking at Darwin when I abruptly turned my attention to him. “Excuse me?”

            “Your epic service…I want it.”

My throat bobbed. I glanced at the woman that Darwin pointed, then back to Larry. Well, Larry is handsome for a forty years old widower.

            “It’s been a long time I haven’t tasted it… since my wife’s passing.”

No hint of sorrow can be heard in his voice. But Larry’s not looking at me. And I wonder if he is that good at hiding sad emotions.

“Just don’t do it roughly,” I remarked.

Larry smiled, a grin of delight. “Sure, I’ll let you be in charge.”

He walked past me and into the cabana near a palm tree. He’s very eager and excited, I can tell that. He didn’t even wait for my yes.

I’m thirsty too. Raymond has broken up with me three months ago and I never had fucked anyone since that. I even forgot how it tastes—the taste as if you’re at the edge of paradise. The taste of cloud nine.

I looked at the woman one last time, who’s now on her phone while facing her back at Madam Jocelyn.

And as soon as I entered the cabana, his skin glinted with the ocherous light of the bedside lamp.

Tearing my bathing suit from my body, I leaped right in front of his material.

And then we did it. Amidst the heat of the cold sun, in broad daylight, and in the middle of Isla de Rubia.
