Chapter 37

Jocelyn’s POV

 

Her phone rang and she immediately answered it.

            How dare she prioritize a random phone call over me? I am Jocelyn Gray, the great and only self-made billionaire.

            Well, not so much of a self-made person as my parents are already multi-millionaires. I just doubled, tripled, my income compared to theirs.

            “Minerva…” She didn’t budge at me and still continued to talk to that woman named Mariella.

            Her back is facing me just a few meters away. I wonder if I pinch her ankle, will she fall down hard? Is it enough to eliminate Darwin’s heir on her fucking womb?  

            Never mind, Damon’s eyes are at me. He’ll definitely put something on my drink tonight again.

            I grabbed my cigarette by myself. As soon as I was about to bring it on my lips, my phone lit up.

            “I want to see you naked, babe…”

            Damn, does my boyfriend know that I am on vacation? Why is he bothering me this time of year?

            “I am having a vacation, Ridley,” I texted back. For hell’s sake, Leonardo, the one who jackhammered me before going here in Isla de Rubia, is much more patient than Ridley.

            As I turn off my phone, I can see the reflection of me and Minerva who’s still talking to who the hell called her.

            Then in a blink, I now have a plan. A plan that will make her a talk of the town, the gossip of the office.

            As soon as I stood up, she also finished talking to her mobile phone. Here and then, I attacked in the most subtle way.

            “Can you take me a picture, Minerva?”

            ”Sure,” she said and quickly walked towards me.

            “No, no darling…” She looked at where my finger was pointing. “…I meant in there.”

            “On a cliff?”

            “Yes,” I smiled, a spider’s grin. “It will be instagrammable!”

            I can see the hesitation on her eyes, the anxiousness on her lips, and the fear on her face.

            “Why don’t we try that palm tree near the cabana?”

            I shook my head. “No, I have a fear of palm trees. The last time I took a picture under a palm tree, a coconut fell right into my head. It’s only a second when I dodged away. Still, the tip of my toe was hurt.”

            “Ohh…I see.”

            “Yes.”

            She looked back at the cliff. It’s situated above an archway. It’s a little walk up there, and the distance of it from the water is around twelve meters only.

            “Okay,” said Minerva.

            “Okay…”

            Then, I led her into the cliff, unbeknownst of my plan.

Minerva’s POV

 

This girl is on fire.

            Fire as she is very eager to burn me down.

            I don’t know what she’s thinking. But one thing’s for sure: she has a plan of taking me away from the Gray Family. 

She doesn’t want me to be part of this family, maybe because of jealousy or maybe because I was both a lover to the brothers Darwin and Derrick.

            “Here,” she said as she handed me her phone.

            She walked nearer at the edge of the cliff. Nearer.

            She put her two hands on her waist and untied the cloth covering her breasts. Holy cow, does she want me to take her picture naked?

            “Uhmm…”

            “It’s okay, Minerva.” Jocelyn then handed me her cigarette and sunglasses.

            And before I could take a breath, she fell from the cliff.

            Down into the freezing waters of the island.

Jocelyn’s POV

 

“She pushed me!”

            I kept on screaming on the top of my lungs. “She pushed me! Damon, she pushed me! She tried to kill me!”

            One of the employees at Gray Co. helped me get out of water.  The employee stared at me for a second at my tits before handing me his shirt. I looked at my leg and I realized I was stung by a jellyfish.

            Shit.

            Damon rushed at me and instead of handling me a towel, he went to Minerva.

            “What happened here, Minerva?”

            “I don’t know.” The witch simply answered.

            “What do you mean you don’t know? You’re the one with her all the time?!”

            I can now feel that Damon is siding with me. His voice is unusual from his gentle-like way when he talked to Minerva. Now, he showcases his firm voice, like the voice of a manager scolding an employee.

            My personal nurse came immediately to me. He’s handsome, of course. At least his face doesn’t make me panic as he removed the remnants of the jellyfish’s sting on my left leg.

            “This will hurt a bit, Madam.” Then he poured disinfecting alcohol on my wound, on my left leg. I can feel my cheeks heating up. Not because of the pain I feel, but because my nurse could no longer trail my wounded leg with his soft kisses just like last night while we traveled here.

            “Are you okay?”

            “No,” I looked up to see Damon’s pitiful eyes.

            I can see thenasty  look of the people at Minerva and their look of sorry towards me.

            Of course, what would an orphan, pregnant woman like Minerva can stand against a wealthy, well-respected, and influential hot woman like me?

            She rushed to Darwin for support but even my stepson shoved her aside as soon as the whispering gossips of the employees commenced.

            Glad that I paid them well to act naturally.

            “Does it still hurt?”

            I looked up at Darwin and answered with trembling lips. “Ye-No…I am-am cold...”

            “Bring her some warm water,” he told my private nurse. “And treat her wound well.”

            The employees' eyes are still on me. Damon’s eyes are still at me while he strokes my back as if to comfort me. Darwin may not have his eyes on me but I can see that he too is trying to squeeze what really happened by questioning Minerva.

            I smiled secretly. It just takes a little scene to gain the empathy of people after all.

            I win this time…I mused. And this shall just be the beginning, Minerva Miriam Miller.
