He dashed his eyes through the party, his eyes finally landed on his dad. "Ohh, there he is," he said to Whitney while pointing at the direction of his dad.
They didn't say anything instead they walked to where Mr. Moore was.
"Hey Dad," Ethan called out to his father.
Mr Moore turned to his son.
"Excuse me," he said to the people that he was discussing with, then he left from their midst.
"Son?" Mr. Moore called to him.
"Yes dad," he answered.
"Why did you keep me waiting and where is my beautiful daughter in law?" The man asked, his eyes were so focused on his son, that he did not notice Agnes, who was standing beside his son.
Ethan stretched his hand to his wife, "she is here dad," he said, locking hands with Agnes.
Mr. Moore moved his eyes away from his son and brought them to his daughter in law.
"Beautiful," the old man remarked.
She smiled at his words. "Good day and happy birthday to you, father in law. I am so delighted to have finally met you," she said to him politely.
The old man spread his hands out to her for a hug. Agnes stepped forward at once and in no time, she closed in on him.
"So you are the one that tamed the wild demon my son and replaced it with a humble angel," the old man praised, causing his son to curse under his breath.
"Dad? You do not need to tarnish my image in front of my wife," Ethan spoke up.
The old man laughed, "are you this ashamed and shy in front of your wife?" His father mocked on, still laughing loudly.
The little drama between Ethan and his father, made Agnes smile and at some point, she laughed not so loud. Wow she was becoming more amazed by the sense of humor this family harboured.
After the introduction, the party commenced and everything was indeed awesome.
Three weeks later, Ethan's dad transferred almost everything to his son, causing some people to be happy while some others were so bitter inwardly.
As for Ethan, he had already gotten the properties he needed and so Agnes wasn't needed anymore.
He asked his lawyer to prepare the divorce papers. In not less than a week, a divorce paper was made on his behalf but in the paper, it was declared that the marriage would end only after three months. He did not mind at all. All he needed, was to have her sign the divorce papers, then they both could live separate lives.
The scene opened with Ethan tapping on Agnes's back, in order to wake her up from sleep.
"Hey Than, why are you up so early?" Agnes asked him, as soon as she opened her eyes.
"I have something to say to you," he told her, not mincing words.
"What is it that you want to tell me that can't wait?" she asked, looking dull because she had just woken up from sleep.
"Sit up and I want you to listen to whatever I have to say carefully," he said to her.
"Alright, I am all ears, so go on," she said to him.
He contemplated for some moment, then he opened his mouth and said to her, "I want a divorce." He dropped the bombshell.
Agnes's eyes widened in shock, then she thought about it a little and started smiling.
"You better stop your joke," she said to him.
He looked at her with guilt on his face. He needed to summon courage and explain everything to her.
"Agnes?" He called her name.
"Yes?" She answered in a questioning tone.
"I want to tell you the truth," he spoke out, with no glimpse of repentance in his eyes.
"What truth Than? You are really making me scared, say something," she urged him
"The truth is that I never loved you Agnes and I can never love you or anyone else. I only pretended to love you," he finally admitted.
She held her chest, she couldn't bear to hear anymore words from him.
Daniel's POV
I tapped on Agnes's back, in order to wake her up from sleep.
"Hey Than, why are you up so early?" She asked me, as soon as she opened her eyes.
"I have something to say to you," I told her, not mincing words. I did not waste any more time in this fake relationship of ours.
"What is it that you want to tell me that can't wait?" she asked, looking dull because she had just woken up from sleep.
"Sit up and I want you to listen to whatever I have to say carefully," I said to her.
"Alright, I am all ears, so go on," she said to me.
I contemplated for some moment, then he opened my mouth and said to her, "I want a divorce." I finally dropped the bombshell.
Agnes's eyes widened in shock, but she remained silent and the next thing I knew was that she started smiling.
I was a bit confused.
"You better stop your joke," she said to me. Now I understood why she was smiling.
I looked at her with guilt in my heart. I needed to summon enough courage and explain everything to her.
"Agnes?" I called her name.
"Yes?" She answered in a questioning tone.
"I want to tell you the truth," I spoke out, not feeling remorseful at my actions.
"What truth Than? You are really making me scared, say something," she urged me
"The truth is that I never loved you Whitney and I can never love you or anyone else. I only pretended to love you," I finally admitted to her.
Agnes held her chest, she couldn't bear to hear anymore words from me.
Whitney's POV
I felt Ethan tapping on my back, in order to wake me up from sleep

My eyes widened in shock, but then I thought about it a little and started smiling. Maybe he was just playing a prank on me

He looked at me with what looked like guilt on his face. He needed to summon courage and explain everything to me, I guess.
"Agnes?" He called my name.
"Yes?" I answered in a questioning tone.

I held my chest, out of pain. I could not bear to hear anymore words from him.
I could not believe that all these was happening to him.
I did not want to believe his words but the expressions he had on his face showed that he was really serious about his words.
How can he say that he never loved me, when he used to promise me so much?
Many times, when I looked into his eyes, all I could see was the love he had for me. So what was he saying to me now?
