10 dare to hurt her

Raige

I was about to unleash a punch on Rojan that he wouldn’t forget when I heard Aliyah’s desperate cry for help. Someone was hurting her! Damn it, who dared to disobey my order that no one should touch her? Thankfully, she was close enough for me to hear her clearly.

My blood was boiling, I could feel it. I found her standing in the middle of a group of girls, Hilda pulling at her hair. I used my power, the one I’ve been hiding from everyone, to stop time. I knew this power would cause chaos if others found out; they’d use me as an experiment to try and possess it. Maybe I got this unique power because my mom was a wolf, but I didn’t know the consequences of using it, so I rarely did. Besides, it only lasts for a minute or two, but that’s enough to do a lot.

I effortlessly removed Hilda’s hand from Aliyah’s head. As my power faded, I slapped Hilda. Her eyes widened in shock, as did her minions. They must have wondered how I got there so quickly without anyone noticing.

Seeing Aliyah’s messed-up hair and face, a result of Hilda’s actions, sent me into a blind rage. I forgot that Hilda was still just a girl. But damn, she hurt Aliyah, and that was all the justification I needed. My girl was a fragile human, while Hilda was a vampire with a bunch of minions.

“Ra…Raige, how…” Hilda looked around as if searching for something or someone, probably her lookout. Then she turned back to me.

“I mean…” I slapped her again before she could say another word.

“Seems like my announcement didn’t reach your tiny brain,” my voice echoed through the place, and everyone jumped in fear. This was the first time they’d seen me this angry. Maybe because they hadn’t seen me often, no one really knows me well.

“Raige, I was just teaching her a lesson,” Hilda said, her voice laced with a desperate attempt at justification. “She’s a gold-digger, I promise she’s plotting something. That’s why she’s flirting with you.”

I gritted my teeth, my anger simmering. “Do you hear yourself? Do you think I’m easily fooled? This girl is a human, do you think she has the power to harm us? This is my last warning, Hilda. Stay away from her or I will make you regret it, my way.”

Hilda and her minions took off, leaving Aliyah and me alone.

I held Aliyah, asking if she was okay. But I was taken aback when she cried and poked my chest. For her, it was probably a punch, but since I’m a strong vampire, it was just a light poke.

“This is your fault,” Aliyah said, her voice laced with frustration. “If you hadn’t shown everyone that you were interested in me, they wouldn’t have picked on me. If you’re doing this because you think you’re responsible for me or something, please be discreet. We can be friends if you want; I can’t stop you from doing what you want. But please don’t show it. I’ll end up being bullied by your fan club or someone who likes you.”

I smiled a little as Aliyah continued to punch my chest, or rather poke.

“I’m sorry, but I think it’s too late now,” I said, my voice laced with a touch of regret. “Everyone at this school, and even some people outside, know my command—that you’re mine.”

Aliyah cried even harder, and I felt a pang in my chest, a familiar ache, like when we were kids in her past life as Sierra.

“If I take back my word, they might bully you even more because they’ll think you’re no longer my concern,” I said, my voice filled with a gentle urgency. “Let me protect you as I’ve planned, and I promise you’ll understand why someday.”

Aliyah harshly wiped her tears, then punched me in the face after turning around. I didn’t see that coming, and she hit the side of my lips, making it bleed.

“Damn…” I muttered, making her turn around to look at me. I turned away so she wouldn’t see how quickly my wound healed.

“Did I hit you hard?” I heard her step closer, now behind me.

“No, it’s nothing,” I said, trying to sound nonchalant. “Sierra… I mean, Aliyah.” A hard object poked the back of my head, and I’m sure it was Aliyah’s bag.

“Who is this Sierra and why do I have to suffer because of her?” she said, her voice filled with frustration. “Ugh, I hate you, Raige Victorious!”

I turned around and hugged her, trying to stop her from squealing.

“I can’t explain it now,” I said, my voice laced with a promise. “But I promise I will someday. I sometimes forget your name, but I promise you’re the one I’ve been talking to. Stop fighting me; I don’t like you mad at me.”

“Ugh, release me,” Aliyah said, her voice laced with frustration. “I don’t want to be a scandal at school. I’m going back to my room. Don’t follow me.”

I laughed. “Have you forgotten that we’re classmates, my love? So I’m going to follow you whether you like it or not.”

Aliyah shook her head in frustration before walking out. But like I said, I followed her, and that definitely annoyed her, knowing I was just behind her.

“Hey, Raige… is she your flavor of the month?” a random girl asked as we walked up the stairs. Aliyah was definitely furious now, hearing that. So I replied immediately.

“No,” I said, my voice laced with a hint of amusement. “She’s my flavor of all months, so you better be friends with her if you don’t want to see me mad. Besides, months won’t end forever. Be careful; she easily gets mad. She’s already plotting your funeral.”

The random girl’s face paled as Aliyah looked in her direction and then ran away. I laughed louder, then Aliyah looked at me.

“What?” I asked, my voice filled with a playful tone. “I’m just happy. Seems like you didn’t need me to protect you, huh? Just one deadly stare and anyone would run away for their life to be saved.”

“Hilarious, Raige,” Aliyah said sarcastically, then she slipped inside our classroom.

Everyone stopped what they were doing as they saw me. While Aliyah sat silently on her assigned chair, I followed her. And there was my annoying step-brother, Rojan, who I had forgotten to punch.
