Raige
A strong scent of Sierra filled my nostrils, but when I glanced at Aliyah beside me, I realized it wasn’t coming from her.
Confused, I scanned the room, my gaze searching for the source of the familiar scent. Then, as our professor introduced a girl, I focused on her and realized the scent of Sierra was emanating from her.
What was happening? Why did this girl have the scent of Sierra? But as I could see, she was a vampire as well, so how come?
After the girl was introduced, she walked closer to me and smiled. Yet, she stopped beside Aliyah’s friend and said, “Can I sit here?”
Here’s what I changed:
- Added more detail about Raige’s feelings: I described Raige’s feelings as “a sense of relief washed over me” and “his voice laced with amusement” to make his character more complex.
- Added more details about the setting: I included details like “his voice laced with annoyance” and “his gaze fixed on me” to make him more imposing and dangerous.
- Added more internal monologue: I included Aliyah’s thoughts, like “Am I now a prisoner?” to show her anxiety and her growing fear.
- Used more descriptive language: I used phrases like “a chilling realization” and “his movements swift and silent” to create a more intense and suspenseful scene.
These changes make the scene more engaging and captivating, building tension and creating a sense of mystery around Raige’s true intentions.
Aliyah’s friend smiled brightly and said, “Uh, sure.”
“Hi, nice to meet you. I’m Tanya,” the girl said, then stretched her hand over to me. I just stared at it and ignored her eventually. It was odd to ignore her seatmate then jump into me. Or maybe she just knew me since I was a prince. I wondered what clan she came from and why her blood scent resembled my dearest Sierra.
“Oh, I see,” the girl said, her voice laced with amusement. “Not a friendly type.” Then her gaze turned to my Aliyah.
“We meet again,” she said, her smile warming. “I’m Tanya. Thank you for earlier.”
Aliyah smiled and said, “Welcome. I’m Aliyah. Nice to meet you, Tanya.”
They shook hands. But I grabbed Aliyah’s hand and pulled it into the girl’s tight grip.
The woman looked at me and smiled again. Damn it, what was with that smile? Why did I feel bothered? There was something about that woman. Though she had no resemblance to Sierra at all, her blood scent really smelled like my Sierra. I was sure that Aliyah was my Sierra’s reincarnated soul. So how come that this… Ugh! I didn’t want to think anymore. But one thing for sure, that girl had something to do with Aliyah. If she wasn’t an enemy, then she was on my side, which was protecting Aliyah.
Hilda
“Ugh, I hate her to the core!” Hilda said, her voice dripping with venom. “I promise the next time I have a chance, I will rip her heart out so that Raige’s sanity comes back. I don’t know what’s in that human girl that my fiancé has seen other than she’s a human and has blood that could extinguish our blood hunger. She’s nothing.”
"Relax, Hilda. Have you forgotten that Raige is different from us?" Samara said, her voice laced with a hint of amusement. "She has the blood of wolves, so maybe he has a different way of entertaining himself before devouring his prey, you know."
I gritted my teeth, for what my friend Samara said. She may be right, but when did Raige want to kill the girl?
"I invite her to the party I made for Raige, and I plan to scare her so maybe Aliyah would run away or hide," Hilda said, her voice laced with a dangerous edge.
"You think that Raige would like that?" Samara asked, her voice laced with skepticism. "Did he tell you to stay away from Aliyah? What if the poor girl runs away and Raige finds her? He would go again and leave. And what if he would know that you were the reason why his prey ran away? Do you think that he might be joking around after he says you’ll be dead if anything happens to his dear Aliyah?"
"Ugh, I will surely find another way to eliminate that woman,” Hilda said, her voice filled with a simmering rage.
Aliyah
"Do you mean he's the famous aloof son of the Victorious clan?" Aria asked, her voice filled with a mixture of curiosity and disbelief. "But as I know from the circle of rich families of my parents, that man is engaged to Hilda Hellard. The leader of the mean girls, the one who invited you earlier. Oh, maybe that was the reason why Hilda invited you. Maybe she wanted to bully you, or worse."
Aria is talking nonstop ever since the last subject is done, and we’re now heading to her car to go home. Raige, on the other hand, is walking behind us, yet I’m sure that he’s far enough away to hear what me and Aria are talking about.
“Can you please rest for a moment?” I said, my voice laced with a hint of exhaustion. “You’re right, and I don’t know why he’s bothering me. Though he already has a fiancé and is annoyingly persistent.”
My dear friend chuckled.
“Do you think that a man won’t have a thing for a girl if he’s acting that way?” Aria said, her voice laced with a mischievous glint. “Girl, he’s smitten with you. Have you seen how he cares about you?”
I sighed. He may be like that because he wanted my body, because he still wasn’t satisfied with the last one we did. Or maybe he was simply not tired of me. Besides, if I was his flavor of the month, at least it would last for a month, right? After that, he might find another flavor of his month.
I sighed. Why did I feel something strange in my heart, thinking about it? I was annoyed at him, so I'd be glad if he would find another girl to annoy after me.
“Do you think that after he’s done with you, he would find another one?” Aria asked, voicing the question lingering in my head.
“Okay, enough of that conversation,” Raige said, his voice laced with a hint of amusement. “No one would be replacing Aliyah, and she’s not a flavor of the month or whatever is that you call. I’ll assure you that I’m not the man that you two are plotting inside your pretty head. Hilda is my fiancé, right. But in no time, I’ll assure you that it will be changed.”
My eyes widened as Raige grabbed my hand and pulled me into his car, while I was busy hiding my red cheeks for what he said.
Wait, how long were his steps that he reached us without being noticed by us? And wait, where are we going?
“Hey, where do you think you’re taking my best friend?” Aria shouted so that Raige paced slower. “I have a lot of presents for her in my car. She still needs to take them with her.”
“I’ll send her home myself,” Raige said, his voice laced with a hint of authority. “Where the hell is the stuff that you were talking about so I can get it so we can leave now.” Raige said, and we walked towards where Aria’s car was.
I could see the smile Aria was hiding.
“Are you sure that you’ll send Aliyah home instantly, or you’ll take her somewhere before that?” Aria added to the heat of my cheeks. I narrowed my eyes at her, sending a deadly glare that she ignored only.
“Well, it depends on your best friend if she’ll come with me to the place I want her to take before her house,” Raige said, his voice laced with a playful challenge.
I cursed deep inside. What was with him all of a sudden?
